Fire & Oak - Montvale Ratings and Reviews
Visiting family member and I had another great meal. From generous cocktails to well prepared meals we were satisfied. The only glitch was the menu on Open Table app was out of date and I was disappointed to not be able to order the entree pictured in the app's menu listing.
The food was good, the wine list had something for everyone, and the ambiance was decent as well. Unfortunately, I had no idea it was a restaurant in a hotel, so it was kind of embarrassing to find out when we got there - I was under the impression that it was a bit nicer. I would have chosen to spend $150 on dinner somewhere nicer, but you live and learn.
Fire and Oak is by far our favorite restaurant! The food and service is outstanding, and the owners are very welcoming and make us feel they are sincerely happy to have us dine with them. It offers something for everyone, whether romantic dining, ladies night, family or business dinner, Fire and Oak will make your evening memorable.
The food and drinks were excellent. Service was as well. One negative comment on the restaurant. I went on Open Table to make a reservation for this restaurant and all that was available was 6:15 and 8:45. I arrived around 7:30 and met friends at the bar. Place was empty. Could have definitely taken reservations all night. Don't understand this practice that some restaurants partake in. This is a small critique. Fire and Oak was very good and I will go back.
Have eaten here before. The service is very good. My steak was bad. I ordered medium which is usually a slight pink center. Mine was very well done and dry. It was a business dinner so I wasn't going to send it back or complain about it. The food here is usually pretty good; I just won't order the steak anymore.
The room was extremely loud and my group of 4 were sat at a round meant for 5 or 6 so it was hard to have a good conversation flow. We were too far away from each other :-/. This was with a reservarion too.
This place is much better on a weekday early. Good food, quieter and good service.
Overall, I was very impressed with the food. I am vegan and although there was only one vegan option on the menu (a vegetable sushi roll), I ended up having the vegetable sushi roll as an appetizer and the ahi tuna salad for dinner (without the tuna of course). They packed the salad full of extra veg to compensate, and the peanut dressing was really heavenly. I had a very fun experience there when all was said and done, and I left full. :)
We were in the area and wanted to dine at a great restaurant in or near Montvale. We are very happy we dined with you. Everything was lovely - - the ambiance, the service, the menu. We shared a great quesadilla appetizer and then enjoyed our entrees along with a nice bottle of wine. Joe our waiter and Patrick the manager were most hospitable.
We wish you continued success!
I come here on a regular basis as my office is near by. I brought a client and was raving about the seared tuna salad.
While the tuna was good, the lettuce was rancid in spots. I was too embarrassed to say anything to our server because I didn't know the client very well.
It was on a Tuesday if that makes a difference.
Gorgeous place, good food, creative dishes, drinks were plentiful and made exactly as ordered, as was everything else. It is upscale, not moderate, but not insanely expensive.
Construction created an echo chamber, so noise level is high. Fine when we arrived, but getting difficult to talk to each other by the time we left.
Will go back and will recommend to others.
Here's the message I sent directly to the restaurant.
I want you to know what a wonderful waitress Allie is. Sorry, I don't know her last name.
We had a reservation last Sunday, 9/17, 5pm, 4 people.
Allie was one of the best servers I've ever had, and as a retired person, I've had many. She was friendly, attentive, responsive, couldn't do enough to be helpful, explained everything with a smile, and if she refilled my water glass one more time I would have had to swim out of the restaurant. I saw the way she waited on nearby tables and she treated them the same way.
The food was delicious, too.
Please tell whoever who needs to know such things what a wonderful gem you have working for you.
We will certainly be back.
New City, NY
We went with a small group of friends as a mini reunion of sorts. Very vibrant bar scene, even on a Thursday evening, but the dining room is very well insulated for noise so there was no distraction. Very good food and service, will definitely go there again when we are back in the states.
The ambiance of this resturant is its biggest draw. Beautiful and fun inside for a semi fancy date night with good cocktails and drinks. That being said the food is totally par, and the service is very subpar for the price of the food. All plates I've had are just underseasoned and the staff will leave you without checking on you for 30-45 minutes easy. I had to flag a buser down to get coffee and my check after my waiter left for 45 minutes and didn't come back for the rest of the evening. The bus boy became our waiter and was very nice just simply because we made eye contact. I'm usually not one to write reviews or put down a place but for a $60+ a head place I expect better. Also the fact that you have to request "water and bread service" is obnoxious. When paying $42 for a entree you would think they could provide you water and bread when you sit down, and the fact that it says in small print on the bottom of menu That it is "Provided upon request" is just annoying .
