With dishes like burgers, sandwiches, pasta, steaks, seafood and more, there is always something to enjoy at Fire & Oak.
Great food as always but was disappointed to be seated towards the very front of the restaurant behind a loud party of 25 instead of being seated in the half empty inner room.
From the bar food (burgers & wings) to the ribeye and seafood specials, Fire & Oak does it right. Delicious food, good selection of draught beers, enough of a wine selection to keep the finest palettes amused. I've eaten here severaltimes and never been disappointed. My wife tried and enjoyed the sushi as well. Solid go to anytime you'rein Jersey City looking for a quick bite, entertaining clients, or looking for a nice place to take the inlaws.
Appetizer: The one which came out - the cold seafood platter - was quite small for something which was specifically intended, according to the menu, to be shared with the table. The three minutes we spent eating it were quite pleasant, though.
The first course of my prix-fix dinner managed to arrive after the second course. We also gained an accidental hummus plate, which would have been nice, had the hummus not been flavorless and terrible.
Main course: My husband's fish was tasty, if not spectacular. My Shanghai lobster was incredibly disappointing, especially for a house special which required a supplemental cost on top of the prix fix's cost. It was adequately broiled, but the "ginger curry" sauce wasn't at all gingery, and was worse than curry that comes in a bag. Also, my lobster arrived nicely split open, but with only a symbolic crack on the claws, which was especially saddening as it took twenty minutes to get a lobster cracker.
Dessert: Clearly not made in house; it was rather good.
Service: Our waitstaff clearly wanted to be attentive, and were clearly overwhelmed by a busy night. I can understand that. Still, we waited about an hour for our entree.
service was not good and very, very noisy like a dance club :(
GREAT truffle fries!!!!
Food was really off and not prepared correctly
They tried to fix but just made it worse
Spent over 300.00 for a meal that really might be worth 0
Fire & Oak is a must-do for any mod business executive. The atmosphere ranges from relaxed to energetic but, never over-done. You can be just as comfortable taking clients or the boss as a fellow staffer. The food is something out of a culinary awards magazine review while at the same time, not busting the budget. Fire & Oak's staff are warm, welcoming and ready to assist with your dining experience. The chef and his kitchen staff are eager to accommodate special dietary restrictions without so much as a smirk of disapproval. This is one to repeat, time and again.
Love this place, excellent food and service. The outdoor dining is very nice in the evening
The food is good to very good. However the prices are outrageous. Also, up charge on holidays without notice. Went there today for Father's Day and was disappointed with the limited menu. Yesterday, when confirming my reservation I specifically asked what menu would be used. The hostess or woman on the phone said the regular brunch menu. Today upon arriving there was a shortened menu with a $10 up charge on all items. Very disappointed. Waiters have lack of knowledge on the menu and the beers. It was also extremely loud In the restaurant. I have been there when it was packed and it never seemed this noisy. Disappointed over all.
I had a pleasant experience at Fire & Oak. The food was delicious and so were the drinks. The ambiance is nice too. I definitely would recommend this restaurant and would go again.
I love this restaurant. Everything is always excellent and super fresh. The drinks are also delish. :)

A neighborhood staple in Jersey City. Great brunch with bottomless mimosas and good, consistent food in a beautiful atmosphere. I am here 2-3 times each month. Favorite dishes are BBQ ribs, salmon & shrimp provencale, chicken sandwich, crab cakes, rotisserie chicken pasta, macaroni & cheese, meatballs, almond French toast, short rib hash. Great cocktails too....try the Kingston margarita.
Food was truly excellent, but service is so bad I would not go back.
Our server was great the food was great drinks was amazing
Can't say enough about Fire and Oak. Must try! Food, service and ambiance are all fantastic!
I've actually been to this restaurant several times. However, last night I attended a business dinner and although it was a little dark more romantic ambience. The outstanding service and delicious food would make me go make over and over.
We had a wonderful dinner at Fire & Oak. The validated valet parking was a nice extra. The lobster Mac and cheese was to die for, as we're the Kobe beef sliders and the lobster and shrimp cocktail. Very relaxed atmosphere.. our server, Anthony was friendly and helpful. We we'll definitely go back.
Meh - the service can be slow during dinner time. Food is pretty average. Best thing they have is the burger and fries. It gets very loud as well. Good for when you want a casual dinner out to avoid cooking.
This place was nice. The food was okay the service was nothing to write home about. The price was too much for the product being served. I love the hotel so it was disheartening that the restaurant did not compliment the establishment.
This is the worst restaurant that I have ever been to. My husband and I had to wait more than 30 minutes to be seated although I made a reservation. The service was very poor. Our waiter was MIA most of our dinner. My husband's steak was cold... of course, food was not good at all. However, 20% tip was already included in the bill.
I loved the layout of the restaurant. WIsh there was a little more room where the tables, felt a little too Close next to other guests. But other than that everything was great, from the food to the drinks and dessert
My filet mignon was burned where is asked for medium well. By the time the food came my wife from t&co finished her food and I ate already alone
I love the ambiance of the restaurant and bar. The restaurant is dark but we'll lit. Service is always amazing and food is wonderful. It's not very kid friendly, so that's a plus if you are having a kids night off.
Overall decent food... Burgers are the best and $1 oysters on Monday. Nice selection of beer....
Recently moved to the area, plus being restaurant week, wanted to try it out! Glad we did, very vibrant and enteric scene. Restaurant menu was great, big, yet healthy portions. Lobster bisque was creamy and rich, filet was cooked to perfection and keylime pie was everything you'd want and more to wrap up your meal. Service was great too! Definitely recommend.
Went to Fire & Oak for the 1st time to celebrate my son's accomplishment. Party of 6 and when the order was being taken by the waiter, he said we have no more lobster. Okay so we won't order Lobster. My wife and I ordered the RIBS. The waiter came back 10 mins later and said they have no more RIBS. Then when it came for dessert, he said this is all we have left and gave us a choice of 3 items. VERY POOR AND TOTALLY WRONG. Being we were a party of 6, the gratuity was already added to the bill or else I would have reduced the tip from 20% to a lower amount. We always go out to have dinner and this was our first experience in Jersey City. Just get to Manhattan and you will not encounter an experience like the one above. I would not recommend
Ambiance is beautiful. The hostesses, although professional, seemed to not know the seating system too well. I made reservations and a couple who walked in almost got seated before I did. They also did not mention that they validated parking; we had to ask. The waitress did not give her name nor was she very attentive to our table. We had to flag her down at least twice with questions.
Took my family there for my moms birthday & had a great time! Food was excellent, waited a little long for entree to come but waitresses were checking on us
Awesome ! I'm not into hotel restaurants ! But this one was the exception
I've eaten at F & O many times and never have a bad meal. In fact every meal i've ever had there has been great. I had the Striped Bass over Mushroom Risotto. The risotto was creamy and flavorful. The fish was outstanding. By the way, the bread at F & O is fantastic. Not necessary a negative, but the noise level is high.
Different and super yummy. Excellent scallops, filet, and mushroom risotto Don't forget the truffle fries.
We had our family Christmas dinner here due to a mix of under planning and wanting to try something new and were well taken care of. The staff was in excellent spirits and the kitchen was on top of it's game 3 of 5 entrees were excellent, and the two fish entrees we tried were very good. Next time I would like to try the sushi which I suspect is a treat.
Huge portions of really well prepared food with 12 dollar bottomless mimosas or bellinis.
This is the 2nd time dining at Fire & Oak and everything about it was great. Had reservations and was seated right away. Service was great and food was delicious!
My salmon dish was great. The Ceasar salad was not that tasty. The dressing was a bit bland.
Food, atmosphere, service.. I can't say enough good things. The food was exceptional and reasonably priced! We will definitely be back and of course recommending it to others!
The service was not good. They took forever with our food and not once was my coffee refilled.
I've been in Jersey City for 5 years and it's one of the most consistent places to go. The food is good and the staff is friendly. I think it has great potential for more (like a nice upscale restaurant) with notable wines.
Was one of my favorite"date night" dinners my wife and I have had in a while.
