Fiorillo’s Ratings and Reviews
I've been coming to Fiorillo's for years, even before they moved to the current location from El Camino. I used to eat there with family every two or three weeks but dropped off for the last few years. We decided to give it a try and went there with family group of 6 for a 6:45 PM Saturday evening dinner reservation.
Parking was terrible.
Even with a reservation It took about 10 minutes to be seated after checking in, then we were left alone for about 25 minutes with our waitress oblivious to our sitting there while she took care of tables beside us. The place seemed to be totally disorganized with some staff just walking around tripping over themselves rather than helping out.
We finally asked our waitress for help and she said she would be back....took our order 5 minutes later and things got a little better. Appetizers finally arrived about an hour after we sat down. Bread arrived after appetizers.
Waitress tried hard but was stretched too thin to cover tables until diners started leaving. By then we could not wait to finish and leave.
Really wish I had gone elsewhere. It was just too much work to try and make this place work to modest expectations. Things have changed and the current owners/managers seem to have lost the recipe on service. It used to be a great family place. Food was still good for family fare but just not worth the hassle you have to go through.
We dined here for the second time recently and enjoyed our meal. The vibe is sort of upscale diner, but the food and service are good. I had petrale sole and veggies, which was prepared with a caper wine sauce, and a house salad. The fish tasted very fresh and was a good sized portion. We had some sort of small breadsticks served to the table when we sat down and then a seeded bread with salad. Other family members had pasta and pizza, which looked pretty standard and they said were good. Overall it was a good meal and I would go back more often if the restaurant was closer to home.
This was my first time for dinner and it was on Valentine's Day, which did make it a little more crowded as expected. Although we had reservations we still had to wait about 20 minutes. Our server either was new or not experienced as she seemed to forget our order and had to come back and have us repeat it, and she forgot our appetizer. The food was good and we will go back someday. Perhaps another server would be more attentive.
Been going to this restaurant for many years and it never disappoint me. Food is always good and the sesame bread is my favorite. It is always good for group parties or for two people. I was glad that I got the accommodation on Valentine Day when I am unable to get reservation from other restaurants. I told my husband that I want to celebrate Valentine every year at Fiorillo's.
We had a group dinner with 10 people and the staff was very polite and helpful, the food was very good overall and everyone had a good time. We had appetizers, salads, main entress and beer and wine. The prices were very fair and you got a lot for your money!! I would reccomend for a business dinner anytime. We will be going back as it's very convenient location to our office.
I've been going to this restaurant (at current and former location) for as long as I can remember. The food here is amazing, on this last visit the restaurant had a banquet going on in the hall and a large group of at least 30 people sitting in the middle of the restaurant. As a result the restaurant was very loud, I could barely hear my wife sitting next to me let alone people across the table. The kitchen was backed up but eventually delivered excellent food. I will avoid this restaurant next time if the noise goes out the door like it did the other night. Any other time I would surely return as the food quality has never left me down and I have never left hungry!
Recently celebrated my mom's 90th @ Fiorillo's with a group of 9 family members. We were pampered with great service and yummy food! The menu was extensive and moderately priced. In checking out the property, it appears they have a very nice bar area and a separate banquet room. Very nice ambiance! I would highly recommend this restaurant!
We felt like we were in bad episode of kitchen nightmares. We waited an hour and 15 minutes for our entrees. Meanwhile people sat after us served faster and it was clear they were friends of gentleman who either owned the place or was manager. He was going table to table of people he knew. Our waitress tried very hard but struggled to get things right like the drinks. We asked for wine recommendation and she went ask " wine guy" he only recommended host expensive on the menu no second choices or what might go well with what we were eating. Food left alot to be desired as well. Veal that was ordered was like a rubber sole of a shoe....
Great place for the whole family or overnight guests. Full bar, adequate wine list, and a menu that should satisfy even the pickiest of diners.
Our group of five adults was promptly seated and recognized by the server. Everyone was happy with the appetizers, their entree and the very reasonable prices.
We will return.
Food was so-so, definitely expected more for the price. Location is a bit odd, in that it is at the very end of El Camino, and a bit removed from other establishments. The interior was spacious and has lot of potential, if only they worked on fixing the quality of food. Eggplant parmesan and the tomato basil pasta were average / below-average, and fell short in the flavor department.
we had never been to this restaurant and were very pleasantly surprised to get a reservation since we called at the last minute on a Friday night for a party of 5.
we assumed that the food may not be fabulous, but we were visitors in town and we did not want to go the fast food route.
we were very happy with the menu, the service and the food was flavorful and the portions satisfactory for everyone in our party.
there was no attempt to disguise good Italian food with odd ingredients or experimental additions.
and as it turned out, the restaurant filled up to capacity later in the evening-so we may have just been lucky to get in.
We were on a date night and shows this restaurant because it had a lot of good reviews. The highlight of our evening was the wine we brought and the lobster corn chowder which was delicious. From there it went downhill, we had their tilapia with scallops special and veal cutlet special. The veal was overcooked and covered with with canned mushrooms the scalloped potatoes tasted like they were out of a box. This is probably why the flys stayed at our table. What was supposed to be a romantic evening out wound up going into the garbage can and cost me $135. What scares me was how many four-star and five-star reviews they had. It was a total waste of time and money we will never go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!!
Fiorillos is our go to restaurant for spdcial occasions. We've been going for years. The sole is always a winner. It is lemony though. Mushroom bordelaise is delicious, make sure to sop up the sauce with the bread they serve, so good. The marinated beef salad is also very tasty. The service is always great.
This was our 1st Fiorillo experience and it was a good one ! We were very impressed with the food and service even though our server was very busy taking care of her tables we still had a positive dinner out! The stuffed mushroom, meal, and wine were all excellent! Even the bread was hot fresh and awesome! We will definitely be back and tell our friends about our find!
My husband and I have passed Fiorillo's a few times the past two years while visiting our son at SCU.and finally decided to try this restaurant to see if it was any good. It had mostly great reviews and so we were excited to try it. We invited a few of our son's college friends so we were a party of 9. I didn't think you could ruin Italian food but they did. I love eggplant parmesan and I only ate half of the portion they gave me. It was one of the worst eggplant parmesan I ever had. One of my son's buddy had gnocchi with meat sauce which he had a few bites of. He said the meat sauce didn't even taste like meat. Really? Another had the shrimp fettucine with cream sauce--too salty. I can go on and on. Never come back!! So very disappointed.
Fiorillo’s is one of those great restaurants for dinner with family and friends. The have a very good wine list and a good liquor list. I would like to see them add Oban 14yo to the list, but that is hardly a distinguishing characteristic. The menu offers a great selection, and the food never disappoints. Finally, the service is very good.
I travel to Santa Clara a couple of times a year. I try to dine at Fiorillo's once each time.
Sat night dinner was great. Food, service, wine, dessert were all superb. There wasn't a banquet going on that night, so I can't speak to the comments others have made about difficulty finding a parking spot or wait staff being preoccupied. This was a wonderful surprise to find a place where every single table of patrons seemed to know each other and the staff. Will definitely come again.
I have passed by this place many times and have never tried it until now. Went after a concert at Santa Clara University and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and good size portions. The service was excellent and the overall dining experience was top notch. I would highly recommend this place. Open til 11 on the weekends make it even a nicer find
