Extremely pleasant on a quiet weekday afternoon. Loved the rigatoni with tuna, mushrooms, and tomato sauce.

Wonderful food across the board. You can spend a lot or you can spend a little. You will not be disappointed. Try the polenta - ask them for a meatball in it or meat sauce.

We have dined here several times and it was always excellent. This time was very disappointing. We used to highly recommend this restaurant to friends. We no longer will. I could have gone to Olive Garden and had better food.

Great dinner, good service, good atmosphere. We ordered a salad to share at the table and it was quite small (not really a sharing plate at $16) but the food was great. Eggplant parmigiana was delish.

Amazing as always. The servers make you feel at home and the food never disappoints. If you want to get there a little early before dinner, they have great happy hour special from 3-6pm in the bar area. We always do a cosmo and some calarmari, yum!

Authentic Italian food perfectly prepared. I had a risotto dish (and there were 3 to choose from), husband had veal picatta (he rarely finishes his meal but for this he practically licked his plate clean), and daughter had the fettucini alfredo and loved it. For dessert we shared a dark chocolate mousse and a tirumisu. They too were fantastic. I highly recommend this jewel of a restaurant for a taste of old world Italy.

When we arrived at the restaurant at 2pm on Christmas Day the host told me we had no reservation although I had made one weeks earlier. After several minutes of confusion we were given a booth in the bar, not the dining room and received abysmal service. Thanks for ruining our Christmas for us and our 90 year old mother.

Authentic Italian hit the palate perfectly but the service was off the mark. Had to ask for the dessert offerings 2x and the check 3x. The veal piccata was devine.

I grew up in San Francisco but this particular restaurant was never on my radar. I am so glad it was open Christmas Eve for our three-day getaway to SF from our North Bay home! It was a special meal. We focused on seafood and they did not disappoint, from the perfectly-shucked oysters to the black risotto. We sat at the bar a few minutes waiting for our table, but the server checked up on us, and the bar was its own fun scene--beautiful carved wood bar, by the by. The wine list has many reasonable offerings by the glass and bottle, and we had good guidance on our selection. The server complimented us on our holiday garb (really, just red turtlenecks) and made sure we were attended to. The layout of the restaurant lends itself to people-watching, and everyone was having a great time. This will be a place I return to again and again.

We went to this restaurant for Xmas eve dinner twice - it’s really festive for Christmas, lots of families celebrating, great food and service. Really enjoyed it, and we’ll keep this tradition going for next year too.

Christmas Eve and the place was hopping! Many family parties made it fun. The osso bucco was well-cooked, falling off the bone with delicious marrow. It was good though not the best I've ever had. The veal chop was cooked just right and the sauce delicious. Though good, the quality of the meat was not the highest.

On Christmas Eve we were a few minutes early for our reservation, we were taken into the dining area by a waiter but left standing in the middle of the restaurant for 5 minutes when the waiter walked away while clearly a table had been set up and was ready for our party of 8. The restaurant was cold and most of our food was served lukewarm which is unacceptable for their high prices. First visit to this restaurant and do not plan to return.

entered restaurant and greeted and sat promptly. we were told who our server was, however he never showed up. it took roughly 10-15 min to be seen by someone. service was nothing outstanding, we got our drink and dinner orders placed, but during the 2.5 hours we were there, our server only swung by once. room for improvement in the service area. food was excellent. had tutto mare; highly recommended.

Wonderful old school italian. Food was very fresh and very good - exceptional pasta and salad, and lovely zabaglione with fresh berrries. Waiter was a professional and friendly but seemed distracted, maybe too many tables. Very nice atmosphere and dining room. Great night out

Very authentic “Mezzogiorno” Italian food. Great menu with reasonable prices. Wine menu is spotty with too many high priced choices and not enough modestly priced wines. The ones they have are good. The dessert menu left me wanting.

The food is extremely disappointing. The minestrone tasted like it was out of a can. This place has gone way downhill over many years. The only nice thing about it is the ambience. And since they moved, even that isn’t very nice.

Had dinner here before attending a comedy show at Cobbs. Food was good, presentation ok. My only issue I had is, I mentioned it was my boyfriend's birthday to the waiter and he didn't acknowledge with a small gesture of a small slice of cake or scoop of ice cream....nothing. That was disappointing.

This is a nice classic itailian restaurant but I’m surprised to hear it’s America’s oldest, I just feel like the food there isn’t the quality of what the oldest itailian restaurant in America should be. Don’t get me wrong it’s amazing that they make the pasta everyday, that part was amazing, but I had the Alfredo there and it was just very bland and my dates dinner was kind of dry, I feel more spices should have been added
