Delicious and authentic Italian dishes. Service was OK, a bit slow. We did ask that we're there for a birthday event, but they forgot about it and didn't do anything SPECIAL. We ordered dessert: chocolate pudding and turemesu and both were below average. I don't recommend their desserts menu. Overall, it was good.
We requested a quiet table if possible and were seated in a nice booth. Our server was excellent and we enjoyed each course. We look forward to our next visit. Thank you!
Service was very good.
My salad was a little tired but fine. A little more bread would have been nice.
Having said that, we loved the food. Nice portions, exquisitely plated. The pasta was perfect. I was a cook, I make and eat pasta, bla, bla, bla, it couldn't have been better. Thin, freshly cooked pasta.....the timing has to be just right. Food doesn't need to be cutting edge to be great. Just the classics, please.
We would have walked out if squid ink gluten free pasta was offered with vegan parmesan cheese. Forget about it.
We came for a classic San Francisco Italian restaurant and we got it.
This is a San Francisco gem. It is especially fun on Sunday afternoon when a great New Orleans style band plays from 3 to 5 . The food is delicious and the staff more than gracious. We always have a fabulous time. I highly recommend it for the true San Francisco experience. Great for locals and visitors alike! Go!
We had an amazing dinner! Our waiter was exceptionally attentive and entertaining. The night was fun and the food was divine. I can't wait to go back!
The best Italian food I’ve had in a long time. Classic old San Francisco charm. Highly recommend
We eat at Fior D’Italia 2 weeks ago. We have been to this restaurant several times, it is one of our favorite restaurants and I frequently recommend it. However we had the worst service experience ever. One reason we selected Fior on this occasion was several of our group were older and we needed the valet parking service. There was no valet in front & when I went inside the waiter told me there was “no valet at lunch”, not true.
When we ordered I asked if the grilled fish was breaded, he said no breading, there was breading. Several times during the meal as he served and cleared the plates he reached in front of one person to served or clear. There was no need to do so,we were at a round table, lots of space to move from place to place. I actually think he was behaving disrespectfully to a group of older women.
I will return to Fior’d Italia, the food is consistently good, lovely environments and we enjoyed our time there. However the misinformed regarding the valet caused 2 older women some unnecessary inconvenience. Again we felt this man’s insensitive behavior was due to our age. I would hope the management will do some staff retraining.
Great dinner with friends. The fresh homemade pasta was delicious!
Food and service were both outstanding! Nice selection of delicious food and wine for every pallet.
Love this classic SF restaurant. It can always be counted on for a delicious meal and a great glass of wine with friendly service.
Simply amazing! Would absolutely eat here again. The food and service are awesome
I took my sister for her birthday we had a fabulous time. The service was great the employees friendly & curtious & the food was delicious. They even sang happy birthday to my sister & gave her a complimentary desert.
This is the most wonderful restaurant in the city: great service, ambiance, bar scene, food- just a wonderful, classic style City restaurant where they have mastered the art of making everyone feel special. We have been there twice in the last month, will return again and again.
Great Caesar salad, I’ve had better tagliatelle bolognese but the pasta was cooked very well, fettucienne Alfredo was excellent, burrata was good. Overall, decent Italian food.
Prices were ok, it’s the usual expensive San Francisco.
The best part was the ambiance. The restaurant itself reminds you of a home-owned restaurant in New Jersey or New York.
Was entertaining a co-worker from MN who had last been to SF on a high school trip. After a trip down Lombard St and a stop at Coit Tower, I wanted the perfect fast tour to continue. Fior D'Italia was perfect - a piece of SF history. The food was fantastic, the wine was wonderful, and the live music was ideal for the evening. The older woman vocalist was superb. Thank you Fior D'Italia for a superb dinner.
Every bit as good as it has been for the past 15 - 20 years! Food, service, presentation and value was outstanding. Noise level was very low and conducive to lots of wonderful table talk. Hospitality was outstanding. Thanks so much for another memorable evening!
Our server Antonio was absolutely delightful. He was attentive. Our food was excellent. Great place! Would definitely go back
They were wonderful to accommodate our large party. The food and drinks were good.
Excellent service and food. Mom said her chicken dish was the best she ever had. Chocolate mousse was decadent. My daughter has food allergies and she was able to enjoy a delicious dinner. We will be back.
Appetizers and entries were solid to great. Desserts in general were disappointing, unfortunately. Next time we’ll skip dessert, I think.
Fior D'Italia has been open for over a century, having to relocate as property owners change. The quality is outstanding and many of the dishes are "authentic", not Olive Garden or other mass production Italian-like. My grandparents and parents dined there as do we.
I don’t usually write these because I usually never have an issue with any restaurants. I’m not a picky eater, but their food was horrible. My gnocchi was completely soggy and the sauce had NO flavor. Honestly the worst Italian food I’ve ever had.
Wonderful bar, service, food, wine selection, piano player-it could not have been s better place to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Will definitely come back.
We had a valentine's day celebration, the food is very good, but we feel that the house drinks menu was a bit limited, we were looking forward to the happy hour but ended up ordering wine due to limited selection. Wine was very good. Service is wonderful and we loved the live music.
The restaurant had a 4 star rating but I was not impressed. The place was practically empty of diners. The appetizer offerings were minimal. The wine list was not very good and the quality of service and the food was just only okay.
Very comfortable restaurant with lovely Italian comfort food.
Great food and bar was a nice quiet alternative if you didn’t want to listen to the live jazz which was also good. Great cocktails too
Our pastas were great. Our osso bucco was average. Excellent house wine.
the experience of eating in the 'First Italian Restaurant in America' did not disappoint. Delicious food and superb service. We went early (before a concert) and were the only folks in the dining room when we arrived. We were doted upon! I have a strange measure for Italian restaurants - they are only as good as the foam on their cappuccino. Fior Di'Italia has excellent cappuccino with a luscious creamy foam - an excellent end to a great meal.
excellent food and service from the bar to the dining room, we highly recommend it
Very good food with professional service. I reserved a high top table during a convention period and was quickly moved up to a full table. Very nice gesture.
Very nice place with pretty good ambiance in North Beach. Pretty good for conversation. Noise level less than most restaurants these days. Food was not special, but certainly OK. Pricing was good.
Would be great if the server would not comment multiple times on my friend and I ordering “too much food”. Most of it came home in to go boxes, but we also wanted to try many dishes.
My fav restaurant in the bay area
My wife and I were greeted warmly at the door and promptly seated at 6 PM when we had a 6:15 PM reservation on a Friday evening. Our waiter, Gil, was wonderful and knowledgeabe. Gil had visited the kitchen earlier in the day and could describe the details of menu items having viewed the fresh food items avaiable to the chef this day. The gin martinis were made to perfection. The ceasar salad and minestrone soup were both excellent. The veal chop was outstanding and the rabbit was very good, as well. We finished our meal sharing a sumptious blackberry sorbet. The bottle of Bertani Valpolicella Repasso 2015 was a wonderful compliment at a reasonable price. Service was prompt, our water was replenished often and the live, background piano music helped make the evening very special.
Food is excellent
Fior d'Italia never disappoints. The food and service are excellent. Great for early dinner.
The service is very bad as the server didn’t even have patience to explain the food I wanted. Obviously was rude. But the environment was great it was quite and there was a guy playing piano. Service very slow. Definitely not coming again. The food is ok, not really authentic for Italian pasta.
The experience was phenomenal! The atmosphere was fabulous, music was just right, not too loud. We all loved it and we will return.
