Evan is the best waiter!
We were definitely pleased with the food but it felt like our table was an afterthought service-wise...perhaps because he had tables near the window and we were near the hostess stand. A manager actually had to ask us if anyone had come by yet.
My martini was served with a lemon wedge instead of olives.I thought that was unusual. When my son asked for a beer he was finally served just a lukewarm can of beer.
My son had to go to the bar to get a chilled glass.
Other than that the food came out timely and was really delicious. We had also visited your sister restaurant Sea level 2x and was very pleased.
We had a beautiful table near a fireplace, very romantic. Our server was friendly and checked with us just the right amount. The noise level was perfect-happy chatter in the background but not loud enough to make it hard to hear our conversation. The seafood was utterly delicious and more than enough.
The food was all very good and our server was fantastic, but we had a reservation for 7:45 and didn't end up getting seated until almost 8:30. They did comp a first round of drinks to make up for the wait, but not until we were already seated.
Came here while on trip to North Shore. Was recommended by Trip Advisor. The oysters and tuna were so outstanding for our first visit, we came back the next night for the blue crab martini appetizer and a salmon poke entree.
My girlfriend and I both ordered the lobster mac and cheese. Finz rendition is more like a lobster vodka creme sauce. The taste was definitely good for a vodka sauce. But both of us only got about a claw and a half of lobster meat. When you're paying 23 bucks for lobster mac and cheese you expect the star of the dish to be cheese creamy lobster goodness, not a negligible amount of lobster in a a red sauce.
The atmosphere was very pleasant, with decor associated to the seaside. Meals were absolutely delicious however wine selection was on the small side, but fairly well priced.
Service was adequate, waiter did seem to be quite busy as it was Valentines Day
The seafood at Finz is some of the best on the North Shore. Also , atmosphere and service are great. Good beer selection. I love the place.
We had a very delicious dinner and wonderful evening at finz this evening. I ordered the platter raw seafood lobster &. Shrimp and it was a wonderful dish and a great price and then ordered the clambake which was equally delicious and the size of my lobster was wonderful. My husband enjoyed his steak tips and we finished it off with the delicious dessert berries and whip cream and ice cream. Our staff was wonderful I will definitely return again. I do miss the Brussel sprouts! Please bring them back.
We arrived a bit early for our Valentine's Day reservation but had no problem being seated right away. The staff we interacted with were friendly and personable, especially our server. Because of the holiday, we were sort of squished into a 2-top next to a support pillar, with very little room between the adjoining tables. That was disappointing, particularly since there were other better seating options that remained open during our entire meal. Onto the food. We ordered some Chatham and Barnstable oysters and a Caesar salad to begin, and both arrived promptly, and were flavorful. I ordered one of the martinis from their featured bar menu and found it tasty and not skimpy on the alcohol. Too often when I order martinis, they go heavy on the flavorings and lite on the Tito's. At Finz, the proportions in their martinis were just right. My husband ordered the Grilled Swordfish from the regular menu. Our server said it was an excellent choice, and it was. I kept stealing bites from hubby's plate. I ordered the Sole PIcatta which came with sautéed spinach and ricotta mashed potatoes. I wasn't as pleased with my meal. The little amount of sole I got was buried under way too much sauce, with the spinach under that, and the bottom layer was heavy with their signature mashed potatoes. It was all one note, with no texture. I picked through the fish and spinach, and left behind what I would call a double serving of potatoes. It could have easily been called Mashed Potato Picatta. Though it was only $20, it wasn't worth even that. After dinner, we got a few more drinks. Again, drinks were excellent...my Espresso Martini was a good capstone. Kudos to the bartender. We also got the berry shortcake, which we finished. Overall, good service with a a star or two off for my meal.
Food selection was great and overall, quite YUMMY! Derrick our waiter was fabulous. We were there for our standing weekly-date-night, which happens to be on a Tuesday so I suspect that the noise level of 'quiet conversation' is a mid-week thing. Seems that the weekends would be a bit more animated. All in all we LOVED IT! #FinzRocks
We were getting together with old friends that we haven't seen in several months. We were able to catch up and take our time, and the waitperson was very accommodating. She and the kitchen handled special dietary requests very well. The food was excellent, and we all had a great time.
My only minor quibble was that the draft I wanted was not available. I'm over it :-)
Delicious meal. YELLOWFIN BLACK AND WHITE SESAME TUNA was outstanding, would order that dish again for sure! SEAFOOD TOMATO-FENNEL STEW was also delicious- lots of seafood and a very tasty tomato based sauce. Server was excellent- very friendly and accommodating. We arrived early (6:15 pm) and the restaurant was full of families with young children so it was a bit noisy. Tables turned over and it was a more adult crowd by about 7:15pm.
We try to get to Finz 3 times a year. We live about 65 miles south but the trips are always well worth it. The food and ambience is amazing. The Tequila lime enchiladas with shrimp are ridiculous!!!! The OYSTERS are always fresh and nicely sized. We just love Finz , honestly if we lived closer we would be there once a week.
Great setting and great food. Plus Rebecca did a great job waiting on us.
We found Finz while looking for a halfway stop between our daughter’s university and our hometown. Set on the water in colorful, romantic Salem, Massachusetts, Finz is now our go to stop. The dishes are lovely, especially the seared black and white tuna, and it’s a very nice ambiance. If you’re planning a trip to Salem (for Witch Trials, The House of Seven Gables, or just Fowler a walk, plan dinner at Finz.
Very fresh seafood even on a cold Thursday night in February. Excellent service. Creative seafood dishes that are a refreshing change for the traditional New England fish fry (which is also available.
It was relaxing and enjoyable
Waiter was attentive but not intrusive
Mouth watering seafood. Lobster ravioli to die for.
Another wonderful evening out at Finz. As is usual the food was fantastic and the service was attentive. The best filet mignon on the North Shore!
Took my wife out for some seafood on Friday evening. Arrived a bit late for our reservation but we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Waitress brought our drinks and let us peruse the menu at our leisure. The Littleneck clams were very fresh and sweet. The Calamari was also very fresh. I really enjoyed the Tomato and fennel fish stew and my wife's pan seared salmon was (her words) delicious!
Convenient to Waterfront Hotel but the coleslaw was so highly spiced as to be inedible. Is this usual?
We were there to celebrate my son’s Birthday.
We liked the place,The service was good. However the food needs improvement.
AJ was our waiter and he was great! Our steak tips were fabulous!
Will be visiting Finz again,
Had New Years brunch which was amazing. The quality of food, service and ambiance was outstanding. Will definitely return.
As always, Finz never disappoints! Great dinner. Delicious drinks and the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable.
The Asian Shrimp Po’boy was most unusual. Fish tacos were good.
Christmas event with friends.
Not busy at all which was nice for noise level.
Oysters were fantastic.
Seafood stew was good.
Octopus tacos not so much, overly spicy and cut too big for its chewiness.
Dessert came and went minus coffees ordered to which we were told a new pot was brewing. Awful. Comment from staff “well were are not known for our coffee”.
Too bad,it was pretty at night inside.
Always consistent kitchen, although the noise level is high on weekends.
This was one of the best meals my wife and I had while in the Boston area. We had taken the train to Salem and booked the reservation via OpenTable. Eric was our server and he made the dinner memorable. The food was phenomenal and the presentation artistic. Fresh, delicious, creative and inspiring.
