Great food and great service. Will definitely return if in the area again.
They were out of two types of beer we wanted. Then it took ages to get the beer I ordered. They brought my entree salad as an app and then forgot the dressing. Not great service.
Terrible restaurant. Overcooked fish. Mushy sides. Loud music. Uninspired ambiance. So-so service.
Too much money for all this.
Good food ! Cold outside and we were like rushed a bit by the waiter.. Overall it is a nice place.
Went to Finz this past Saturday to celebrate a sibling's birthday. We all had a good time, and 2 out of our 3 meals were very good; however, my meal -- the special, seared halibut -- was either overcooked or left under the heat lamp for awhile. My fish was a bit dry as was my rice side dish. Drinks were good and service was OK. Overall, not a great experience and not sure if I'd go back.
This was our first time. We enjoyed everything! Had a great experience and would definitely come back!
It was busy, but our table was ready on time. There were 5 of us and we had a great booth that comfortably sat our party. My husband was paying the bar tab so it was just me and 3 children when the waitress arrived. I could visibly see that she was disappointed with her anticipated tab. It seemed her mood shifted when my 8 year old asked about the lobster on the kids menu (love that there was lobster on the kids menu). Bread took a while, but it was nice and hot when arrived. We didn't have silverware for a bit and I think it was due to the crowds and pace of the dishwasher. We received them clean and hot.
Overall it was a good experience. Food runners have to "auction off" the food which is a pet peeve, but the food arrived together and was tasty. Fish tacos, lobster, steak, swordfish... all a hit. Sour pickle bloody mary isn't sour or pickle-y at all, but is still good.
First time @Finz and it will not be our last. Food was ridiculously good. Tequila lime enchiladas with shrimp and Christmas sauce forget about it just great!! OYSTERS so fresh and clean just all around enjoyable. Yellowfin tuna was the freshest I've ever eaten in New England. FINZ is our new fav. Check it out you won't be disappointed.
the clam chowder and linguine with clams were the best I've ever had and I'm over 60, so I've had both on numerous occasions
If you live or are heading to Salem this is a great spot to go to. Located on the pier on the Salem waterfront - nice view - outside seating but lively - nice menu ~fresh seafood all great choices - halibut, swordfish and monkfish tasted as if it was just caught -great wine list by the glass or the bottle.
For the average food quality and mediocre service is definitely on the "too expensive for what it is" list. Having better trained staff and little more attention to the needs of the customers will go a long way in retaining good customers.
The seafood is excellent. The service wasn't the best but we will definitely go back.
We liked Finz. Our waiter had some issues with details, getting us drinks on time, forgetting things we ordered, etc. so that was kinda a drag. But we were having fun, what we did eat was delicious.
Me and my wife went here for dinner on our first night in Salem. Excellent food and staff, very courteous and friendly. I had grilled swordfish in a lobster cream sauce with truffled fingerling potatoes and my wife had pan seared tautog with a crispy mushroom and goat cheese risotto cake
Good value. The stoli wasabi caviar oysters were outstanding.
The food was good it was not outstanding the view was overstated. We sat at plastic tables out on the deck which did not impress me. Found a much nicer restaurant in town with more ambiance, Pricing, and food.
It was a tuesday night, so kinda quiet - but we had Great service - I really wanted lobster and there were many fresh seafood options. But unfortunately not many other options for my date who does not enjoy seafood. My server also was efficient and helped me pick an amazing white wine.
They closed their kitchen before we even arrived for our reservation.
Food was great. Most of us had seafood. We weren't rushed which I appreciated since some of my family who were from out of town were running a little late. Highly recommend
We were visiting our children who live in the area (one in Salem, the other in Boston). On our last evening there we had dinner at Finz. The food was excellent and our waiter was great, and we enjoyed the setting. We sat inside, as it was a bit cool to sit on the deck, but I think the deck would have been even more enjoyable. Definitely a winner!
Food was great service was not. Sat us down and it took 20 minutes to have someone get us a drink. To find out it was. Ecause they sat us at a table at 430 and the server did not start till 5 .
Service and atmosphere was great. The meals were excellent. The noise level is a bit high as it was hard to hear each other at times (4 people). Would recommend this restaurant.
The food , the staff and atmosphere were very good. We were visiting and would definitely go back
Food had great potential. The lobster mac and cheese would have been amazing if it had more lobster, especially for the price. There were just a couple pieces in the entire dish; def not a good ratio of lobster to noodle. The seafood risotto would have been amazing as well if the fish was over-cooked to the point of being dry and tough. Lastly, the mussels were good but needed more broth. Everything had potential if there were just some slight changes.
Our service wasn't the best, but perhaps the waitress was having an off day. I didn't get the feeling this was a normal thing.
Great seafood restaurant. Waiter was really great. Restaurant was very busy yet we were not rushed at all. We had a great time.
Nothing beats seafood at Finz - fresh, creatively prepared, and perfectly cooked!
We had littlenecks (always a hit) and salads, followed by lobster ravioli, crab-stuffed haddock, halibut and swordfish. Fish was cooked perfectly - done through but still moist and flaky (not easy to do), sauces and marinades complimented fish without overpowering it. We even succumbed to berry shortcakes, which featured fresh, ripe berries. Nothing better (and it didn't even break the bank!)
Service, as always, was friendly and knowledgeable. Choice of wines was extensive, with something for everyone.
We came to Finz for a birthday celebration for my son who lives in Marblehead. It's his favorite. The food was excellent. We sat outside in the sunlit evening. There was no umbrella and the sun was tight in my sons eyes but he didn't mind. He had the view. His vegan wife decided to come--she never eats out and she found something to her liking. A couple if our orders got muddled, but nothing serious and our waitress fixed it up.
It was very expensive, but on birthdays I try not to complain
Great we will be back delicious great service great cocktails
My wife and I visited for the second time. This time it was our 10th Anniversary. We had Michael as a server. He made us feel very welcome and he was more than happy to accommodate our every request. The food was outstanding and we had an excellent evening.
We went here for our 44th anniversary and enjoyed every single thing about the place. The menu is wonderful and creative without being annoyingly au courant. Our server, Erik, was attentive, funny, and did his job well. We sat on the outdoor deck on a perfect summer evening, and could not have asked for a better experience. It's an hour and fifteen minute drive, but we will return, hopefully soon. Loved it!
Great location on the water. The food was exceptional, our waiter, Mike was friendly and attentive. Watched the ferry boats dock while we ate. Great time.
I may have been a little generous with my star ratings. Five of us went to Finz on a Friday evening, and the general opinion was that it was disappointing. Two people had a seafood risotto that contained too much rice and a smattering of seafood. Another diner had a seared tuna that was cooked as desired, but had very little flavor. The pickled ginger was good. The salmon was nicely done. I had haddock with crabmeat and a very flavorful sauce. Seasonal vegetables were perfectly prepared. We dined outside, but instead of a lovely water view we were treated to a harbor/ inlet with some boats and commercial buildings
I assume there was water involved somewhere! It was pretty noisy and the service was not professional. I think most of the staff was college kids on summer break. Sadly none of us will go back.
We went to Finz for our anniversary. The food was great and so was the service. Our waiter, Michael, over heard us toast our anniversary and at the end of the meal he brought us a complimentary dessert. We will definitely return to this restaurant and will recommend it to our friend.
Get together for friends long lost friends, had an amazing time, food was great and our waiter Ethan rocked, he made the night
We enjoyed our meal. Server was excellent! Attentive but not too much and very knowledgable and friendly. Apps were excellent. We had some oysters and steamers which were sweet and delicious. Mains were ok. Paella was a little mushy and tasted like maybe it sat for a bit before it got to me.
Been a few years but Excellent as always!
We sat outdoors on a beautiful day, very pleasant. Good food and good service.
Food was fantastic. Server was less than enthusiastic to take care of us. The service wasn't poor, we just got the feeling that she really didn't want to be there. It was noticed by the entire party and was the only negative on the evening.
The food was good but the service and lack of parking made it so I would not return
