The food was good as usual but the loud , and obnoxios group at the back left my ears ringing. They need to separate groups like that in different rooms. Also, the waitress was the bartender. They need more personnel with large groups.
Rather disappointed overall.
It was my first time to FINZ and I brought along my midwestern relatives who were craving New England clam chowder. While the FINZ chowder was decent, it was NOT traditional clam chowder, so it was a bit of a disappointment to my guests.
I had the Spa Water cocktail, and while delicious, I could not taste any noticeable amount of gin. My dinner companions drank beer.
The oysters (we tried all three types) were fresh.
The hot buttered lobster rolls were delicious and meaty and came with crispy fries (and a dollop of coleslaw) for $27 ea., but the real dish we missed out on was the grilled scallops with gnocchi--very yummy! (we had to help my DIL finish it).
Service was slow and inattentive at times (due to the young staff?). No bread was offered, no water was offered. Very few check backs, and we were half way done with fries before ketchup arrived. I saw another guest eating what looked like a very large strawberry shortcake, but we were too full to enjoy dessert.
I would try FINZ again, but hoping they either hire more waitstaff so the few on shift weren't running all around the property, or perhaps revisit some training. Seafood tends to be at a higher price point, so diners expect a level of service to match.
Service was very good. Food outstanding. Kitchen was a little slow however the restaurant was overflowing. We were celebrating a graduation as many people were. I would go back again.

Finz does an annual Mother's Day brunch buffet. Nice variety of breakfast and lunch option, including oysters and shrimp.
Disappointed. Buffet was not replenished often dried up and empty just getting ready to leave and the chicken finally came out Finz is great normally this time they were not prepared seemed service was off also
Mother’s Day buffet could have been much better. They were slow and replenishing items and would have preferred a little more variety. Service was excellent though

This restaurant is very nice for most occasions the food is great and most of the waiters are very nice. I eat here about 3 to 4 times a year. Overall I give Finz's 4.5 Stars.
This restaurant is inconsistent. We've been going here for 10+ years; sometimes it's great, sometimes not, and this time it was terrible. They tried to seat us in the noisy bar area, despite having an Open Table reservation. The oysters were poorly shucked and full of shell shards, plus they were not especially good oysters. We tried 3 different types, all tasted the same, not briny, small, unremarkable.
Our waiter was minimally competent. We asked if we could have the Cajun spiced tuna blackened, he said "yes, with the Cajun spice", we said "and blackened, right?"; he said "yes". It was not blackened, merely dusted with some Cajun spice. He obviously didn't know what blackened meant, and failed to ask the chef and clarify for us. The saffron seafood stew was good, as were the fried oysters. But overall the experience was negative and we will not be going back.

Wonderful as always! My favorite is the black and white tuna. Best oysters and martinis hands down.
Oysters were not delivered where the origin was recognizable (did not match description) and when re-ordered, were served in different order with same printout of descriptions. When server was asked to clarify, she basically brushed him off. So who knows what he received. Were out of several common food options. Filet was ordered medium and came out well done, vegetable was severely undercooked. For amount paid, would not recommend nor would we return. It's a shame - really wanted to like the place.
Great wait staff, outstanding beer selection and all 4 of our meals were perfect. The price was good and the area is Salem at its finest
Had an excellent experience here, right on the water. Ordered entirely too much food, but not a single complaint about the place. Food was outstanding, the service even better. Lively inside, pretty quiet and more relaxed outside, depending on the ambience you and your crew, date or family would like. Totally fine for any crowd or family. Our waitress was phenomenal (don't recall her name, unfortunately). If you're visiting the Salem area, there's plenty to walk around and see in very close proximity to the restaurant. Highly recommend the paella. Seafood tower was awesome. The pan-seared halibut special was out of this world, and the triple-layer carrot was, while gigantic, was extraordinary that night and even better the next morning when I ate the other half for breakfast. Will definitely be back next time I'm up in Salem again. Note for those that get chilly easily... bring a little jacket for yourself and the kids if you're staying after sunset and are sitting outside.

Drink menu was very interesting and tasty. I ha the shrimp linguine and thought it was very good. Perfect portion. My wife has a shrimp wrap. Wonderful. Pleasant place!!

Finz specializes in seafood, as the name suggests, and they prepare it very well. We had a very pleasant experience dining there with friends. The service was good, and the environment was quiet enough for casual conversation. Finz is definitely a higher-end restaurant - not overwhelmingly expensive, but not cheap. It's certainly worth it for a special occasion.
The food was absolutely superb! The crab cake appetizer was the best I've ever had - and I order crab cakes everywhere. The fish, shellfish, and sides were worth the trip and I hope to have dinner there again.
We come to Finz's a lot. Always great food. The Tuna is unreal. It's expensive but you really get your money's worth here.

Service was prompt and attentive without feeling rushed. The food was unbelievable my Lobster Ravioli was to die for. Crab cake was excellent and my wife's meal was fantastic as well. We will be back soon.
The Hostess forgot about us despite the fact that we had reservations. She asked us to wait 10 minutes for our table to be cleaned and after 35 minutes I had to ask if we could be seated. This was ironic as we received 3 Opentable emails and a call from the restaurant asking us to confirm our reservations. Our waitress was very nice but we were rushed through our meal. I overheard the party sitting next to us say that they felt rushed to order as well. Our food was good but our dinner arrived while we were still eating our appetizer. Definitely not the place to go to enjoy a relaxed dinner and drink.
Finz is a fabulous seafood restaurant located on Pickering Wharf on the Salem waterfront. The seafood is the freshest around. Creative dishes and a great staff!

We love coming to Finz! We had our first date there. We are excited to see the new location. This location is super packed space wise and it felt especially cramped this time. Food is always delicious and Crispy Nigiri offered was next level AMAZING! Please bring that to the permanent menu! I wanted more of that!
Good food. Bad experience. Six of us for 25th Anniversary. We informed the waitress of our problems - first a lovely but blinding sunset thru a full glass door (made worse as it was over the water}. There were shades for the windows but not the door and it was a problem that could be easily be solved but wasn't. The menus are transparent plastic- so no help there. I sat sideways for 45 minutes, Sunset, which should have brought relief, put our table in near darkness - the small pendant over the center of our table was out - it had no bulb. The waitress said she would send a manager to our table but that never happened. We passed the mini candle among us to read the menu. Guessing the restaurant doesn't care about return patrons, treating us like tourists. Still wondering why they asked if it was a special occasion when we made our reservation and acknowledged our response.
The Baked Oysters were delish! Sea Scallop dish was excellent as well! Great service by Juan!
We’ve eaten here many many times in the past and continue to enjoy it each and every time. My wife ordered the grilled shrimp and I had the sea scallops. Both dishes were appetizingly served and absolutely delicious. Service couldn’t have been better and we love the fact that it’s right on the water which is beautiful even in the dead of winter.
The service was great and the food was delicious. Nice variety of seafood prepared in
eclectic ways. After my wife's scallop dish arrived not very hot, (my selection was very hot)
the waitress took it back to reheat. When it came back exactly the same, someone from the
kitchen came out and apologized, took back the dish again and prepared a totally new one, on the house. My wife was very satisfied with the replacement. I'm not sure what went wrong but they were more than accomodating and willing to take responsibility. This doesn't happen very often in our experience, so we were pleased with their priority for customer satisfaction. Nice
ambiance near the water and looking forward to dining there again in their new location.
Not busy on a stormy night... but great service and food. Paella was outstanding. Table right by the windows to watch the last night of the 'Noreaster come through Salem. Look forward to our next visit to Salem!
My fiance and I dined at Finz last weekend as part of a visit to see my daughter in school on a recommendation from an acquaintance. It's in a perfect location - and our food was phenomenal. We got the goat cheese appetizer, the cheese was served warm with garlic and olives along with a nice crostini. It was creamy and delicious.
She got the yellowfin tuna entree, and I ordered the sirloin tips. Not only were both of the entrees' meat selection cooked perfectly, but the sauces that accompanied both were incredibly additive to the plate. The sides, while not as much to write home about, were also well prepared and presented.
I will go out of my way to eat here again, although it is nearly two hours from home. I don't know if I can give a stronger recommendation than that.

Finz was great. The seafood was fresh and fantastically seasoned. Our server was very friendly and fun, and you could tell he loved the food because he gave us very honest reviews. Great calamari and the crab nachos are SO GOOD. Also recommend the paella, mussels, lobster mac and cheese and the halibut.
Finz was a great take on Friday. Busy enough to have atmosphere but certainly not over crowded. The bar and wait staff were polite and efficient. The menu had some great options (tried the seared Haddock with mango salsa) that were a great value.
