Christmas event with friends.
Not busy at all which was nice for noise level.
Oysters were fantastic.
Seafood stew was good.
Octopus tacos not so much, overly spicy and cut too big for its chewiness.
Dessert came and went minus coffees ordered to which we were told a new pot was brewing. Awful. Comment from staff “well were are not known for our coffee”.
Too bad,it was pretty at night inside.
This was one of the best meals my wife and I had while in the Boston area. We had taken the train to Salem and booked the reservation via OpenTable. Eric was our server and he made the dinner memorable. The food was phenomenal and the presentation artistic. Fresh, delicious, creative and inspiring.
What makes all the difference in the world is getting a really good server. We got that with Evan! Really appreciated Evan's attentiveness, sense of humor, and level of engagement. The food was fantastic. The view was nice. We couldn't have asked for anything better!
Finz was a good experience. The food was tasty and hot. Our server Jennifer was very attentive and served us quickly and was able to take care of some of our special needs quickly and with a wonderful smile. The prices were a bit on the high side but not surprising given the location
Service was horrible and I wish I could say it was due to the restaurant being busy,it was not, our server Erik was just bad.
We had to wave down erik 10 minutes after ordering drinks( 2 glasses of wine and a diet soda) to ask if our drinks were coming out, instead of apologizing for the delay, he just said "yeah" then he only comes out with 1 glass of wine and the soda, before we can ask where the other glass of wine is, he runs off. We then 5 minutes later had to wave him down again and ask for the 2nd glass of wine and once again, did not apologize for the delay or for forgetting the wine.
Food was pretty good, i got the lobsterac and cheese and it was amazing, huge chunks of lobster so good. Mom on the other hand, got the swordfish, the outside of the fish was great, but as you got to the middle, it was just cold and mush. You could tell the fish was still frozen when cooked.
I would still recommend this place , can't let one server and one item of food ruin the all around experience. I would give this place another shot.
My husband and I were celebrating a belated wedding anniversary. We had a quiet waterfront table, excellent/attentive and pleasant server and outstanding tuna and sea scallops. The mussel appetizer and hot crusty rolls were delicious as well. We would definitely recommend FINZ for outstanding food, service and ambiance.
Been coming to Salem for 11 years. This is always a must stop. Now, having said that, the food for some reason is a crap shoot sometimes. When it’s good it’s FANTASTIC! When it’s ok it’s really just…. Ok at best. Especially the chowder. It’s god stuff but they’re fond of thinning it out with water which is too bad as on those good days it’s excellent! Worth a stop and for special occasions.
We wanted seafood while visiting in the Salem, MA area. Finz Salem was the perfect selection. The sources of the seafood are posted and specials are also featured. The seafood was fresh and excellently prepared. My wife had the grilled swordfish and I had the Haddock and they were both nicely sauced, tender and delicious. Prices were very reasonable for these delightful seafood dinners. Service was excellent. The restaurant was comfortable and nicely decorated in a clean modern style. This is an excellent restaurant for very good seafood.
We got there for a 5:15 pm rsvp... we sat down ...took 15 mins to get taken care of.. then we ordered appitizers and they took 45 mins to come back to take a next order... 6:45.. still no dinner.. we walked out..at least.. i guess mangement offered to pay for apps but i paid anyway... the waitress was rude and tells me its halloween weeekend...(she forgot about us for over 45mins...) horrible.
We had made a reservation and we were aware of await for outside seating. Hostess informed us she would text us when seating would be available, about 45-60 minutes. We waited with no response. Upon checking we were told she had no record of our request and would have to wait again. I was not happy and she told us we’d have to take a table in an undesirable area. She was very rude. We finally were seated elsewhere after much debate. The service by the waiter was ok but our food (fish) was cold and over cooked.
Needless to say I was disappointed. Owner did apologize for his staffs treatment but it left a bad impression.
