Finz Salem Ratings and Reviews
Service was horrible and I wish I could say it was due to the restaurant being busy,it was not, our server Erik was just bad.
We had to wave down erik 10 minutes after ordering drinks( 2 glasses of wine and a diet soda) to ask if our drinks were coming out, instead of apologizing for the delay, he just said "yeah" then he only comes out with 1 glass of wine and the soda, before we can ask where the other glass of wine is, he runs off. We then 5 minutes later had to wave him down again and ask for the 2nd glass of wine and once again, did not apologize for the delay or for forgetting the wine.
Food was pretty good, i got the lobsterac and cheese and it was amazing, huge chunks of lobster so good. Mom on the other hand, got the swordfish, the outside of the fish was great, but as you got to the middle, it was just cold and mush. You could tell the fish was still frozen when cooked.
I would still recommend this place , can't let one server and one item of food ruin the all around experience. I would give this place another shot.
My husband and I were celebrating a belated wedding anniversary. We had a quiet waterfront table, excellent/attentive and pleasant server and outstanding tuna and sea scallops. The mussel appetizer and hot crusty rolls were delicious as well. We would definitely recommend FINZ for outstanding food, service and ambiance.
Been coming to Salem for 11 years. This is always a must stop. Now, having said that, the food for some reason is a crap shoot sometimes. When it’s good it’s FANTASTIC! When it’s ok it’s really just…. Ok at best. Especially the chowder. It’s god stuff but they’re fond of thinning it out with water which is too bad as on those good days it’s excellent! Worth a stop and for special occasions.
We wanted seafood while visiting in the Salem, MA area. Finz Salem was the perfect selection. The sources of the seafood are posted and specials are also featured. The seafood was fresh and excellently prepared. My wife had the grilled swordfish and I had the Haddock and they were both nicely sauced, tender and delicious. Prices were very reasonable for these delightful seafood dinners. Service was excellent. The restaurant was comfortable and nicely decorated in a clean modern style. This is an excellent restaurant for very good seafood.
We got there for a 5:15 pm rsvp... we sat down ...took 15 mins to get taken care of.. then we ordered appitizers and they took 45 mins to come back to take a next order... 6:45.. still no dinner.. we walked out..at least.. i guess mangement offered to pay for apps but i paid anyway... the waitress was rude and tells me its halloween weeekend...(she forgot about us for over 45mins...) horrible.
We had made a reservation and we were aware of await for outside seating. Hostess informed us she would text us when seating would be available, about 45-60 minutes. We waited with no response. Upon checking we were told she had no record of our request and would have to wait again. I was not happy and she told us we’d have to take a table in an undesirable area. She was very rude. We finally were seated elsewhere after much debate. The service by the waiter was ok but our food (fish) was cold and over cooked.
Needless to say I was disappointed. Owner did apologize for his staffs treatment but it left a bad impression.
Great!!!!!! Started off with oysters and lump crab. Very fresh, and nice portion.
I had the salmon, and my husband had the tuba entree. Everything was so fresh!
The service was great, our waitress was very attentive and friendly. My husband liked that he could see the Yankee game from our seat.
After driving 7 hours from New Jersey, we were really looking forward to trying fresh seafood. I have to say, my dish was extremely dry and very disappointing. It was so dry, it sounded like someone tapping on a desk when I touched it with my fork. However, the calamari was the best we ever had as well as the oysters.
Went with a friend to celebrate my birthday. We had a nice tropical drinks. I had the shrimp po' boy sandwiches with a spicy remoulaude. Delicious. Service was great, view was pretty good. we were on the fence as to eating indoors or out. We opted for indoors and had "outdoors" envy. We'd definitely go back, prices were very competitive.
Went to Finz this past Saturday to celebrate a sibling's birthday. We all had a good time, and 2 out of our 3 meals were very good; however, my meal -- the special, seared halibut -- was either overcooked or left under the heat lamp for awhile. My fish was a bit dry as was my rice side dish. Drinks were good and service was OK. Overall, not a great experience and not sure if I'd go back.
It was busy, but our table was ready on time. There were 5 of us and we had a great booth that comfortably sat our party. My husband was paying the bar tab so it was just me and 3 children when the waitress arrived. I could visibly see that she was disappointed with her anticipated tab. It seemed her mood shifted when my 8 year old asked about the lobster on the kids menu (love that there was lobster on the kids menu). Bread took a while, but it was nice and hot when arrived. We didn't have silverware for a bit and I think it was due to the crowds and pace of the dishwasher. We received them clean and hot.
Overall it was a good experience. Food runners have to "auction off" the food which is a pet peeve, but the food arrived together and was tasty. Fish tacos, lobster, steak, swordfish... all a hit. Sour pickle bloody mary isn't sour or pickle-y at all, but is still good.
First time @Finz and it will not be our last. Food was ridiculously good. Tequila lime enchiladas with shrimp and Christmas sauce forget about it just great!! OYSTERS so fresh and clean just all around enjoyable. Yellowfin tuna was the freshest I've ever eaten in New England. FINZ is our new fav. Check it out you won't be disappointed.
