Great staff! Great food! Great drinks! I had a wonderful time at Finn McCools!
Very noisy with the live music but great food!
Been going there for years. Never disappointed.
New Year's Eve Irish time (4PM) is the best.
Service couldn't be better.
Staff were very accommodating.
Many people there at lunchtime but noise levels were quiet
Expected a more authentic Irish experience. 5 o clock Saturday crowd is loud...therefore the music was on blast...no Hozier, Luca Bloom, U2 music selections just loud 90s. Drinks were excellent, Guinness very well poured. Guinness Irish beef stew, not to order again. Tasted like it was a week old, frozen and reheated.
Fish and chips quite good, fresh.
Go for the drinks, bar is a beauty.
The food was very tasty and good value. However more attention to detail is required both our burgers had fillings missing and had to be queried.
Monday night with Dave and Dream Builders T
How can opentable suggest a 10:00 am reservation when the restaurant was doesn’t open that early? I noticed the same time was available today at North Italia in Santa Monica. Luckily, I knew they didn’t open until 11:00.
Know it concerns both opentable and the selected restaurant when the guest with a reservation doesn’t show. How about when the guest shows after making a reservation on your site and the restaurant isn’t open.
You can do better. At least we had a nice walk even though the door to Finn McCool’s was locked.
Made a reservation and showed early only turned at door. Not first time I've gotten bad service there. Certainly the last time.
I had reservation from 1 week ago. When i showed up at the door they said reservations were cancelled. No one contacted us to make such a change. We asked for the manager and the bouncer went back and forth and he never showed up. When i asked for manager they said ok wait. Made us wait for a while and then they said you have to pay a $10 cover each. Very rude and disrespectful! Totally ruined my night and St. Patty's!!!!! Not coming back!
They never seem to have enough help - long wait times to have your order taken; have the food delivered; have tables cleared...
Service was very sketchy. Made a reservation for 6 for 745pm. Host seemed to have no clue. Waited at the bar until a table opened up. Waitress was in a big rush to take our order as we sat down. Once the food came which was good she disappeared and we had to check with another waitress to get our check. Definitely not a Gastro pub. Food was good but service was lacking
Great drinks, ambiance, and service!
Supposedly this restaurant has brunch on Sunday. According to Open Table it starts at 10:00 AM. We made a reservation for 11:00 AM. Finn McCools was not open at that time. A rather disagreeable employee came out to water flowers. When I asked him when the restaurant opened he replied, "in the afternoon".
We came here for Father's Day with a big group and it was great. The service was great and the food was so good. They have many options for everyone to choose from. We had a vegan in the group and she had many options to choose from. Their bar is great as well. The drinks were awesome. Fun atmosphere and near the beach and near an area where you can walk around afterwards.
Love pubs and had high hopes after checkout by out the menu here on Open Table before we went. Unfortunately food was not as good as we hoped and service was lacking as well. Parking was easy which was nice (there is a lot behold me the pub), but the place just wasn't that good. The first three types of beer on their list my husband ordered they were out of. All three were on the happy hour special menu. Not really a special menu if you don't have it. The one he ended up with was actually pretty good, but overall not going back :(
It was very crowded because it was Memorial Day but they took very good care of us!
This is the best place for trivia in town. Also really good vegan food options!
A lively neighborhood bar with excellent food. There's also good music and Monday night pub quiz. Check it out!
They hold trivia night on Mondays, which we did not know about. This is NOT a gastro pub, it is an Irish Pub with mediocre food.
Brought the boyfriend here for Valentine's Day. Food was excellent, waitress was friendly and accommodating, music was authentic, fun, and not overpowering. We had a great time. Will definitely be coming back!
The food is always excellent - as is the service. I love this place!
Only hours before we were going I found this place online and booked a reservation. The host was gracious enough to call me ahead of time and ask if we preferred near the band or further away. He had our reservation ready and a nice table that wasn't quite as loud. And that's where the positive experience ended.
We waited quite some time for the waiter who did show up. He seemed friendly but didn't appear often. My husband got a beer and it can quickly. I ordered a cocktail with our food and it never arrived. A food runner brought our food. We thought maybe our waiter quit because we never saw him again, even in other sides of the restaurant.
My husband had a burger that was huge and he said was very good. I got h Reuben and a side salad. The salad was great. The sandwich had very well toasted bread and scant sauce, so it was quite difficult to eat.
Eventually we tracked down another waitress and got our check. We never received the cocktail but they didn't try to charge for it, fortunately. Seems more of a bar scene and perhaps they should stop serving food at later hours since they can't seem to manage it.
Great atmosphere great music great burgers
Delicious food! We had a burger and fish and chips- all things made perfectly. They have an impressive menu for vegans, which was appreciated by the others in our party. It did get a bit loud for conversation, but what do you expect on a Saturday night? Also wished for Irish music like in Dublin at Temple Bar, rather than a cover band. But we all had fun and would return!
Been a few times, always great food and fun. The service is great, and they had the Tray App to order, pay and make things so easy if you want, we were on a casual night so went traditional, but the service was good enough to not need an app escape.
Easily the worst waitress we have run across in a long time. The waitress had to be asked by the bartender to seat us as we stood next to the "Please wait to be seated" sign. So completely disinterested in serving us. The bar was fine and the Bloody Mary's good but Sugar, find a job you like and not take it out on the bar's customers. I even asked if I could just touch the material of her shirt to see if it was of quality to purchase and she acted as if I had humped her leg. I am glad that you have set yourself with such high standards as you work in a dive bar.
Awesome place for brunch....
Very disappointed. Went to hear Irish music and the band was not there because of a futbol game that went into sudden death. It was not listed anywhere on the website that the music would be delayed because of the game. Could not have a conversation because of the noise related to the futbol. Waited for 3 hours to hear 45-60 minutes of music. The food was good. Good time spent with friends but not really worth the long drive to get there from Monrovia and back.
Will not find a finer example of Irish hospitality this side of Boston, New York Philadelphia or Galway Bay, for that matter.
Service is top notch. The bartenders are responsive and knowledgeable and there's always a joke and A laugh at the bar.
In Ireland, the public house is the communal living room of the village or town. Place were friends become family. McCool's does this like no place I've ever known.
good irish bar, very loud, even smells like beer :)
We went here for a festive lunch with co-workers. I was pleasantly surprised by the food even if the surroundings leave a bit to be desired. Definitely more of a local bar feel then a sit down restaurant. The waitress was very accommodating and sweet even if she was overwhelmed as I think she was the only one working. I will definitely go back as the food was pretty yummy.
Despite being "sold" as a gastropub, I would say this is an Irish pub with just ok food. Some of the prices seemed high for the quality of food, but other food items were of ok value. I found the ambience of the place a little worn down and even trashy. The service was substandard at best.
Bottom line, I'd pass on going to Finn's.
This is truly one of the best if not the very best Irish pub experience I've had and I have travelled extensively in Ireland. Not only is the food Devine and all homemade even the sandwich bread the staff are straight off the boat from Ireland for the most part
Eat drink and tip for tomorrow you may die
I've been twice! Both times I had their amazing fish & Chips!! They have many beers to choose from as well as mixed drinks. I go to hear Marian sing with the Bracken Band
We made reservations a couple weeks out, arrived 10 min early no issues. We were seated and received great service, even though it was crowded. The food was stellar. Steak was cooked perfect, my wife had salmon it was also perfect. It is a little loud, if you want quite and cozy go somewhere else, it didnot bother us, it was a great atmosphere. I recommend this place highly
My friends and I enjoyed our visit to Finn's. It was the first time for all of us. The gentleman in our group tried the "Smithwick" (sp?) beer and loved it. He wants to return just for that! The food was good, but we all agreed that it was kind of average. One friend had the fish and chips but she wasn't very impressed with it. She said she's had better elsewhere. My other friend had a custom burger, and although he enjoyed it, but he also was not that impressed. I had salmon and brussel sprouts. Since I was following a very strict diet, the chef agreed to help me stay within my restrictions and cooked it all with no butter or oils; he blackened it for me. I thought it was delicious, and I was very appreciative! I liked the menu and would like to go back to try some "traditional Irish fare." Our server was very nice and helpful. She could have been a little more attentive - we had to flag her down to order more drinks, but overall she was very good.
In summary, it was a nice experience. We'll be back!
I hate going to sports bars. That said, Finns does a great job of balancing having sports on television but somehow keeping out all the screaming idiot football fans. Nice work.
Come here often, decided to make a rest for fan though. Didn't even know they did that to be honest-nice.
Here's the skinny-it's technically a 'pub', but it's way better than that. Great food, awesome staff, live music, etc. I don't know of any other pub that comes close to be honest. Lot's of work going on lately too. Paint, design stuff, etc. New management I think, which is clearly rocking it.
