Our service was slow, the food was awful, we had the beef slider Nacho's; there was little to no cheese on them and what was there was over cooked and dryed on. Then we tried the sliders which weren't much better. The restaurant wasn't crowded but our lunch took for ever. Clearly you all don't cater to the office workers in your area. We need to get in and out in less than an hour. I also ordered crab soup which was good but came with cilantro sprinkled all over it! Ughhhh! We had to ask multiple people and multiple times for different things. I can't say that I would return any time soon.
We had some great Margarita Flatbread with balsamic which we craved for days after... along with the Lump Crab Bisque. Both were Very very good!! Will be back when we are in DC.
After a week of service work in DC, we just wanted a great steak and good service. We had both! Our server was attentive and the food excellent!
Lacking ambiance, I felt deceived because we had no idea this was a hotel restaurant. My fault for not doing a lot more research. The food was ok, but way over-priced. Drinks were more expensive than many DC restaurants. For the $300 we spent for 3 people to eat and drink, I would have much preferred Ruth's Chris!
Menu was not the same as it was on the App. Totally different and although the food was good it was not what I was looking forward to. Also it should be noted that this is a hotel restaurant.
First time dining in DC location after dining many times in Alexandria location. Surprised by the sparse menu! Service was slow despite the limited number of diners (mostly sorority members) for a Sunday lunch.
Ate there before walking to the mall for the 4th of July celebration - it was a great way to start the event! Great for kids too!
We checked into the hotel late Friday night and my son and I were starving, we decided to check out the hotel restaurant and was not disappointed at all. We had ministone soup and a salad and it was very good, the food came out very quick and definitely hit the spot. We sat in the dinning room with Stephen and he was excellent, very attentive and even though we were his last table we were treated like his first. He was able to give us tips on what to see and do in DC and made us feel right at home.
When I looked at the menu, I thought the prices looked good, but the portions are tiny and the food isn't anything special. Also, I given the name of the restaurant, I thought this would be a steak and seafood restaurant (a play on "fins" and porterhouse), but it's an Italian restaurant.
Decent food, but nothing to write home about. Average for a hotel restaurant.
We were staying in the hotel and were celebrating my 11 yr old grandaughters birthday. We had a 5pm reservation and were stuck in DC traffic for 2 hours. Moved our time up twice and ended up getting there 2 hours later before the Bruno Mars concert and had to eat quickly. I ordered our meal and explained to our server. The food was served within 10 minutes. All staff was attentive, courteous and we ended up coming back after the concert for a more relaxed late night snack and found the service to be the same excellence. The food was great and the service we received really started our night off perfectly after a stressful time getting to DC.
My dinner at Finn & Porter was disappointing. The kitchen had run out of the flatbread pizza so I had to make do with 2 appetizers for my meal. The caprese salad was described as being made with teardrop tomatoes but it came out with just ordinary cherry tomatoes. The table bread was tasty but served in stingy portions.
This restaurant was known for steaks and sushi. Neither is offered in the current menu. I ordered a steak medium rare and got a steak that was medium well. The staff was attentive and energetic but the food was disappointing at best.
Great food and wine. Very attentive wait staff.
The night we were there we were one of only a handful of groups. Thus the ambiance was a bit off. The service and food were very good however.
The service was attentive, the portions were generous. The food was good but not great. I did find the waiter was helpful and accommodating with a substitution I wanted to make with my meal.
Had a lovely late lunch following the theater, food was wonderful, cocktails superb and service spectacular!
Delicious food, fast and friendly service, quiet atmosphere. Will definitely go back!
The staff was very friendly. Our waiter, Darrell, was friendly and attentive, with light conversation. The tables were spaced far enough apart that we didn't feel crowded at all. The food was very good. We had the appetizer sampler. The calamari was crisp and tender, not chewy. The pasta di mare was really good, as was the salmon. It's a nice gem by the Verizon Center, great for a preconcert dinner. We will return.
After a long flight across the country my wife and I were looking to grab a quick bite to eat. We decided to check out the hotel restaurant and we were very impressed. Are server Steven was very engaging and knowledgeable about the whole menu. We started out with some cocktails and then Steven suggested a bottle of organic red wine that paired very nicely with our meals. My wife had the butternut squash and I had the chicken marsala and they were both outstanding. Steven timed the wine and the courses perfectly and after a long agrivating flight to DC my wife and I left very happy.
The restaurant was very good. The food and the service was great. The only problem was that when we got there they seemed to be short staffed and no one was working the front desk. It made it difficult to check in with our reservation. We had to wait ten minutes before anyone even acknowledged our presence. Other than that the rest of the experience was great. We were sat next to the fireplace which was really nice. Our server was really sweet and offered suggestions. The food was delicious as well.
Wait staff demonstrated affable incompetence. The food was essentially tasteless and warm because if the excessive time under the heat lamp. Save your money and grab a hot dog at the street vender on the corner...
This is a hotel restaurant. I thought the food was very good. The server, Gordon, was timely and very nice. I will consider for future dining whenever I'm in DC.
Awesome food with good service. Was a little noisy, but no fault of the restaurant. A family had kids running around.
This place has potential, but no soul. The server was hard to locate. My $10 salad included some dry, overcooked chicken breast unfit for human consumption.ALthough the restaurant was 20% full, nobody dropped by to ask if I enjoyed my lunch. I had to chase down someone to bring me a check.
They have potential, but I am not sure I would return.
Food was on par with Olive Garden. ICK!
I made a last minute reservation with a work colleague and was wowed by the service we got. We sat with Steven in the dining room and he basically picked our meals for us by describing them in detail for us. I ended up having the salmon entree and it was so good very light and very flavorful. I started with a crab soup that was amazing, it had a generous portion of crab meat on it with cheese bacon and chives. I totally did not expect that kind of service or food quality from a hotel restaurant but i was blown away.
Had to wait to be seated even when the place was almost empty. Our server Brian was good he tried to make up for it.Soup was warm and very small portion of pasta for the main meal.My lady meal wasn't fully cooked with the chicken and capers.
Great place that had a decent valentines specials
Had to send fish back it was way overcooked. Then was given attitude about it. Will not go back.
Finn & Porter had a very nice ambience to it. The waiter we had was very courtesy and made a few nice suggestions on menu items. While the food was only moderately proportioned, it was very tasty.
I did not like this restaurant. It was in a hotel, so I had to walk across the hotel lobby just to use the restroom. Also, it was a very cold and unfriendly environment. There was no one in the restaurant at 9pm so I felt like the restaurant was trying to close when I was there. Also, the service was TERRIBLE. I had no idea who my waiter or waitress was since there were so many people helping my table. Getting a refill on drinks and the check was a huge headache. The food was good, but I was not impressed by anything on the Restaurant Week menu- shouldn't they be showcasing some of their best plates? I definitely do not recommend this restaurant.
It is a hotel restaurant. Need I say more.
Good service, better than average food, killer crab soup.
Party of 8 had no trouble conversing. Food was well-prepared and quite tasty. Service was excellent - separate checks were provided without us even asking for them.
Didn't realize this was a hotel restaurant till I got there. And it was an Embassy Suites. Everything was bland. Not horrible, but nothing special.
We chose F&P to eat before an Inaugural Ball based on the recommendation that it was a 'Romantic' location & we would escape the raucous celebration for a few minutes. Far from it... the restaurant was very loud with noise reverberating from the bar. We tried several tables in the restaurant, all were loud.
The food quality was OK. Portion size was good, price was fair for a downtown DC. We had chicken picatta, somewhat bland. The service was a real disappointment. Initially met by a very enthusiastic & attentive waiter. But after the food was served... he literally disappeared! I had to track down another waiter after 20 minutes and ask for our check.
The food was presented well; it was as described by the server and was served timely. All four of us enjoyed our meals. Two of us had the same emal and we thought it good, but not great. Salads were fresh and the dressing was served in an appropriate portion (not overwhelming/drowning).
very romantic and quiet. Spacious and serves delicious wine.
Love this place. Found it on Open Table planning my office Christmas Lunch. Was everyone's first time there, and we all loved it. We didn't feel rushed or overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of other office holiday gatherings. It was a very relaxing atmosphere, and the service was GREAT!!
This was our first time here at your restaurant. It was my birthday celebration with two of my friends and we all enjoyed the atmosphere, server, and fantastic choice of food. We shared a dessert (apple pie) and it was great. Our server, Brian, was on top of his game, he stopped by frequently to see if we needed anything and made suggestions on some of the items were questioned.
I plan to visit again and will recommend your place to others.
