Food was OK ambience was beautiful, service was nice but definitely stretched thin. Will definitely go back once things return to normal.
We went there for brunch. The food was tasty and was delivered in an efficient manner. However, we were not checked on by our waiter during the time we were there. I had to get up and find the waiter to ask and retrieve our check. He made us feel as though it was such an inconvenience to divide the checks (it was a bachelorette party - a party of 6) but never vocalized that he could NOT do it. He made a snide remark that what we want to do is "difficult." If he had come to see us we would have communicated that we needed separate checks or would have open to paying for the check in whole. Instead, he pushed us aside because I watched him serve and cater to other tables while our NOW separated checks have been sitting on the counter. Ultimately, what was lacking was staff presence, professionalism and communication. If our waiter or ANY staff had come check on us we would have been able to verbalize what we needed regarding the check and whether or not it was even feasible for them. What started as a great meal left a bad taste in our mouth due to staff.
Fabulous rooftop views, and delicious food. One of our favorite spots in a town filled with great places.
As as "out-of-towner" I realize that my expectations need to be kept in line with both local standards and especially with current Covid protocols. This review is my honest opinion and taking the above in consideration.
I made a reservation online line using Open Table for a table for 2 at 5 PM. I was meeting with a programmer from SBIFF (SB Film Festival). We were catching up for the first time since last year and had a small window to meet in between screenings. As a publicist I was in town for the day to see my client's film presented at the drive in.
Pulling up the valet was fast and efficient as well as courteous and informed. He even mentioned the Sunday brunch on the roof, nice touch! I didn't even know about it and now I wanted to go!
Entering the lobby is was quiet and appealing. The restaurant however was dead. Only 1 table of three (a toddler with his parents) were in a booth. There was no host/ hostess present and we waited a good 5-6 min. before seeing anyone. We had such limited time I suggested we move on but just a min. more a server appeared and took us to a booth.
From then the service was great and attentive. Suggestions were made, personal contact and rapport established. We only had time for two apps and drinks - but both were terrific. I got the mushroom flat bread- with chèvre. Amazing. I could have had two! My dining partner had the Togarashi Tater Tots with scallions and a miso aioli. Terrific as well! For drinks I had the American Riviera (Hendricks Gin, Elderflower, Sparking wine and lemon). She had the Hibiscus Habanero Margarita. Both hit the spot, were attractive and on point. I could have had 2!
We really wish we had more time. The menu looked amazing and the choices endless. I will be back and hope to not only stay at the attached boutique hotel, but also eat a full meal there and take part in the rooftop Sunday Brunch! If only time were not so limited and money never an object!
Bon appétit et bon voyage!
It was open and we needed food. Would not recommend
Very nice and convenient place. We went for a special occasion and our expectations were better than expected! Service is really good and friendly, the food is delicious and the views are amazing. We enjoyed and for sure we will come back soon. Highly recommend it!
Great pork chop! Caesar salad was just okay.
Impeccable service! Server was excellent and described our dishes perfectly and very proactive with suggestions and such to our dinner. Will be back for sure! Love the pork chop!!!
Our go-to place for special occasions. Always delicious and great service!
Excellent service, delicious food, great ambiance!
Food not that good.
Beautiful outdoor rooftop dining during covid. We thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer of devil eggs and for our entrees we were pleased with the trout and hamburger. This hotel restaurant is definitely worthy!
Outstanding food, service and help with keeping us warm! Super glad that they have opened up the rooftop patio.
Despite the pandemic, they were still able to provide a great experience.
Beautiful setting!! Food was delicious & they kept the mimosas coming :)
Great service, food, and atmosphere from the room top.
It did not live up to the expectations. They had one waiter & one bartender serving the entire rooftop, about 15-20 tables. The food and cocktail menus were much smaller than what their website shows. The drinks were served in plastic pool cups. The food and drinks were mediocre. All in all, they’ve done a poor job of adapting to the new way of Covid life and quality has clearly gone down.
Sunday Brunch. Great location on top of the roof! Great for locals and visitors alike! Thanks
We went for Sunday brunch recently. The restaurant is located on the rooftop during the pandemic which is nice. The views are amazing up there, and there's plenty of space. They definitely have some kinks to work out though. The waiters were overloaded and very busy. It took a while to get initial drink order and refills. We placed 2 orders of the cheeseburger which is a double patty burger. One was ordered without cheese and came out with a single patty. We asked the waiter and he said they ran out of patties as other double patty burgers were coming out. Maybe he was joking. He offered to take off the cost of a soda to make up for the missing patty. Aside from the burgers, we ordered 2 plates of the shrimp polenta. It was OK. Mimosas were fine. Overall, there wasn't anything that stood out except the view. I won't be going back.
Covid visit to the space on the rooftop of the Kimpton Hotel. They are really doing all they can and it was so appreciated. It was ridiculously windy and cold the evening that we went and I wish I could say this was a great option, but it's simply just good for the current state of things. That said, the skeleton staff ( I think 4 total people including Chef in main restaurant ) did a truly amazing job to serve everyone somewhat seamlessly. Just an outstanding job!
The food was, as always, excellent, drinks were very good and I 100% recommend! I will be happy when they go back to the restaurant space but if we lived closer, I'd support this effort on the rooftop as much as possible for as long as it took.
it was too cold to eat comfortably. When there is a lot of wind, one heater should be provided per table
Great view. Ok food. You pay for the rooftop view
Windy night up on the patio but the staff did everything they could to make our dinner amazing! Great food, cocktails, and the view is spectacular! Highly recommend this gem!
Definitely not ready for reopening.
Way overpriced for Valentine’s Day and the quality was soso
We went on Valentine's Day. They had a set menu of three entrees, two appetizers and two desserts to choose from. It was $70 each. One could do a pairing with wine for an extra $30. They had the wines listed on the menu. I had the grilled rainbow trout served on a bed of risotto with string beans. The trout was delicious. The risotto was excellent, but the string beans were mixed in with the risotto and were not cut, so it was awkward trying to eat them together. The carrot and brown butter soup was probably the best soup I have ever had. We hadn't received the soup when our entree came and we had to ask for it. It was supposed to come with brioche, but none ever appeared. It was warmish. The dessert of dark chocolate Panna Cotta so good. It was supposed to come with grapes, but none were present on the dish, which was fine because the dessert was good on its own. I would not recommend Finch and Fork to anyone nor will we be back. Now in all fairness, maybe this was not the real Finch and Fork. Our reservation was for the Finch and Fork, but our bill said Canary. One other nice thing was having it on the rooftop. It was beautiful and we were seated right up against the wall so we had the best view! I think they probably tried to make it nice for Valentine's Day, but just failed.
Overall it wasn’t bad but not outstanding.
Food was outstanding and service good. Nice and polite staff
Due to Covid, they moved the restaurant to the rooftop pool deck, which was delightful. The food was delicious, the setting beautiful, and the service was great. We’ll definitely go back when we we're in town.
Rooftop outdoor setting overlooking Santa Barbara life with well spread out tables. The service was great and the food was delicious!
From what I heard from the waiter chatting with other tables, this was the beginning of Finch and Fork outdoor dining reopening. Heard them saying they had just finished training the staff for this. That being said, I’m sure they will get better.
Form the onset, I noticed they had only one waiter one bartender and a runner. The waiter seemed maxed out, but he was trying. Food took quite awhile from order to table, and while it tasted good it wasn’t quite hot.
I don’t want to kick them while they are down, however, I fear their lack of communication from the get go led to sub par meeting of expectations for a holiday weekend dinner rooftop. First, the signage to get to the restaurant rooftop is terribly lacking. From the lobby, to the elevators, to once you exit to the rooftop. No sign indicating finch and fork. No spot where a host/ hostess may be to assist guests. Given it was apparently their first night open in five months, it would be wonderful if they had given us a disclaimer on new menu, kitchen delays, and limited staff. The drinks took a very long time on the second round and were not near as nice quality and care. The steak was not a nice cut and was slathered in dressed up A1 sauce. The staff member in charge of French fries was spot on however. After almost two full hours, and a long delay in between courses, it would have been lovely for a manager to come by and inquire with us and even offer a drink (of any kind) for our patience and understanding. Little acknowledgment for the obvious inconveniences on what was for many of us, a special night out. I don’t know how they were going to flip tables for the next seating given the long delays.
The finest fried chicken in the universe. Great roof top location.
Due to COVID all dining is on the rooftop of the hotel which could be very cool. Instead, it was cold, not enough heat lamps, tables are outside wood tables with uncomfortable seating. We arrived at 5:45 and didn't get our dinner served until 7pm. We were the second party to arrive but the last party to get served. They lost our ticket? While the food was good when we received it, it all seemed to come at once ... a big rush.
The first glass of wine had to be sent back, it tasted /smelled like it was bad. The water also tasted funny.. was it due to the plastic wine glasses they were serving everything in? Who knows. Finally, a 20% tip was included in the bill (for 3 people), the waiter made no mention of it. Luckily we reviewed the bill or we would have tipped twice. Value for experience ?? Low at best. We are locals. Won't be coming back for a while.
Boy what an amazing surprise. Food was, well, simply superb. The flavors melded magnificently in my scallop dinner. Make sure to have the some more pans cotta. Take my advice and order 2. Can’t wait to return.
Keegan provided a great dining experience for my mom & me.
Fantastic food and great service! I will definitely be back.
The food was great and the service even better. However, I wish there were a few more items on the menu or a daily special or two. The selection was a little small. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes were awesome.
Convenient location. Food & drinks were great and somehow the service was better. Bathrooms were superb.
