Service was slow for both wine and food
We had a Groupon so decided to go to Finbars on a Saturday night. We planned to have a leisurely dinner so ordered the calamari appetizer for starters & the eggplant parmesan and the "two in a bowl" fettuccine for later. The calamari is very good and although only half of the appetizer had been eaten our two main courses arrived at the table; so much for a leisurely meal. We complained to the waitress who reported our complaint to the manager. He was nice enough to apologize to us for the issue. If you want to eat FAST, go to Finbars. Oh, the eggplant and pasta were both delicious. If you want a nice meal and want to spend a little more time eating it, it is suggested you alert the wait staff or you will be in and out in 25 minutes.
The facility was clean and bright; the noise level a little high for my taste - perhaps the addition of soft, sound absorbing material in the decor would be good. The meat sauce I had on pasta was very good, and the sausage I added was excellent. My guest had the shrimp scampi, and was pleased with the preparation in olive oil rather than butter, as she is lactose intolerant. The garden salad with Italian dressing was simple, but adequate. the service was excellent, including the clean-up and replacement of a glass of spilled wine (my bad). Will definitely return and am happy to recommend this as a quality, neighborhood restaurant.
Older crowd. Good for food and a football game
The menu is extensive. If you can't find something you like on this menu then you sure are a picky eater. I had the penne arabbiatta with a meatball. The sauce was very good but the large meatball was nothing special. I should have gone with the sausage. My wife had the two pastas in a bowl. She thought it was quite good. The portions are good but the prices seem a bit high for pasta dishes. Oh, the calamari appetizer with two different dipping sauces was very good. Next visit I might have that as my main course.
The food is really good, the staff are friendly & service is excellent. Will come back again & again.
We had a family gathering of 14 people and Finbars sat us at their back room. This allowed us to have privacy...and...screaming kids. In addition, our waitress was amazing as well as the food. We live in Pismo Beach and Finbars will become our traditional family gathering whenever we visit again.
excellent food and menu options. we had the specials and they split portions for 2 people in our party with no charges. we shared a bottle of wine which was excellent. the service was prompt and attentive and the server was knowledgable about the menu and the wine. we were there on a sat night and it was a little noisy with the band in the bar for conversation but not that bad at all. overall excellent and we'd go there again for sure.
The food was fair at best, the best item was the salad dressing. The pizza was soggy and both soups I tried were oversalted. The majority of the desserts seem purchased from Sysco or the like.
Kind of tired. But, good authentic Italian.
I had not dined at Finbar's for over a year and decided to visit this past weekend. The noise level was very loud as their were many families present. It is apparently very child friendly as many children were actively yelling and running around. My food was just okay. A key ingredient (pine nuts) were left out of it. I attempted to locate my server to bring this to his attention, but could not find him for 15 minutes and then had to wave him over. I was finished w/ the dish at this point and he offered to give me "a bag of pine nuts to enjoy later". We were offered some cheesecake to go, but since we were going out to a movie after dinner and it was 80 degrees outside, we said no thank you. I doubt we will ever return.
great place, wait staff was attentive and extremely helpful...food's good, too!
the phone number you have listed on Open Table for Finbar's is wrong. The number is 562-430-4303. Thanks
We had a family lunch at this restaurant on Mother's Day. The food and service was excellent. I would definitely dine there again.
Finbars used to be one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I have to say it's become an overpriced Olive Garden.
