Fin Seafood Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I love this restaurant! It’s small and comfortable with a cool neighborhood vibe. The food was top notch and the service friendly and attentive. We split the tuna appetizer three ways and I had the “scallibut” ( halibut with scallop on top) entree and it was cooked to perfection. Nice portion that melted in my mouth. I highly recommend to anyone for a wonderful dinner experience. The food is a little pricey but worth every penny. I hear they have a Tuesday tapas special in the separate bar that would be worth trying!
We went for Tapas Tuesday and had a wonderful dinner. For $20 ($25 with wine pairings) we got three small courses. With desert it was just the right amount of food. The wines were very well paired with the food. It was so good that we immediately made reservations for the next Tuesday and invited our friends.
We were visiting from Chicago. We enjoyed getting out of the house and not eating thanksgiving leftovers. Our waitress Meghan was awesome! She made great recommendations and conversation. She also picked the perfect wines for our meals. The she crab soup was so so good. I wish I could get it here at home. My boyfriend got the Cobia special and he loved it. I got whatever steak Meghan told me to get and LOVED it. We really enjoyed everything.
We were ready for a nice dinner out and gave Fin a try. The service was very good, but the food was very very poor. The cheese plate and meat plate appetizers were unimaginative and bland, and the meats (a variety of sausages) were cold and tasteless. For dinner we ordered the scallops. Honestly, it was so salty we could not eat it, and we are not picky eaters. You would expect more from an upscale restaurant where the dinner selections are in the $30 range. We will not be going to Fin again.
Very welcoming upon entrance to the restaurant. Seating was great. The waitress was very pleasant and friendly, made you feel welcome. The food was outstanding. The chef accommodated my spouse with a vegetarian dish, which was delicious. I highly recommend and will return.
What an amazing meal! All 4 of us cleaned our plates clear! Started off with the Fois Gras and one of us got the She crab soup. I had the 35 month dry aged Bistro steak, cooked to perfection, beautiful presentation. Also chosen was the Scallibut (Scallops and Halibut), all dishes beautifully prepared and presented. Portions were ample but not huge. Other dishes were the Duck breast and Duck Confit, and just the plain scallop dinner. All amazing. The black garlic mashed potatoes are delicious as were the assorted vegetables placed on the plates. $40 bottle of a 2015 Angeline Cabernet was a nice accompaniment . Total bill before tip, $251.00 No one complained! Would go back. Wish I took pictures.
We both tried the five-course tasting menu, mine with the reserve wine pairings and my wife had a hand-crafted white Cosmo. Every dish was beautifully plated and delicious. It is just the right amount of food. The wines were truly well matched to the food. Our server was superb. Even on a Monday night there were many other customers, but it wasn't full. The menu changes often and uses both local and flown-in ingredients.
My wife and I attended dinner at Finn's to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. They prepared a table with rose petals and gave us a complimentary glass of champagne (for toasting). We made our reservation for early in the day, so the restaurant was not full which made it quiet. Parking could have been a problem but we were lucky to find a spot open in front of the restaurant. The staff was wonderful. The food was delicious. We had a marvelous time, and intend to return in February to celebrate our birthdays.
Always outstanding. Superb service from a stable wait staff. A beautiful night for outdoor dining. Asked about a "Russian Coffee" we had had many years ago in Europe and they found the recipe and duplicated it. Fin always tops our list for a special night out or a place to take out-of-town guests.
This was our first time dining here and it will certainly not be our last! We were celebrating our anniversary and had a wonderful evening. I had the 3 course special with tuna tartare, scallops and risotto, and key lime cheesecake and they were all absolutely amazing!
Took friends to Fin Seafood this past Saturday night for their first visit. We wanted to share one of our favorite local foodie spots. The evening was great as we took advantage of a special restaurant week for locals menu. Everything was amazing. The cocktails, including my all time favorite Manhattan were top notch. The corn and crab chowder was a hit, my wife calls it the best corn soup ever. We always get seafood but one of our friends got the beef tenderloin entree and raved about it. The peach bread pudding was a wonderful desert. We highly recommend Fin for everyday dining out as well as special occasions.
We often go to The Fin for celebrations, birthday, anniversary, etc., and last night was for Gus' retirement from NASA Langley. The Fin had honored our request for a booth and had decorated our table for the celebration, something we had not expected. I am in love with soft shell crabs and oysters and The Fin has both and does them, as with the crabs, in changing styles. The large crabs were on a bed of grilled potatoes, beans, and other vegetables with a tasty sauce I enjoyed dipping my crabs in. Their Oysters Rockefeller are always good and usually without shell, which you might expect, but don't always get at restaurants. I so enjoyed my soft shells that I had to take a minute to personally thank the chef. We had hoped to have desert but by the time we finished our food, we could not. Gus had the Tuna Black Rice Ramen and loved it to the point of cleaning his plate. This dish was unusual at least for us. The Fin has a great wine selection, but we are not experts so we usually stick with a California chardonnay. The staff of course were attentive and on the ball without being intrusive. We always sit side by side in a booth because we are old folks with our secrets and we love to talk to each other without disturbing others nearby.
One of the top restaurants in Hampton Roads. Yes, it's pricey but the food is phenomenal. Great service, attentive staff. Perfect for date nights, anniversaries and special occasions. Small dining area so definitely make a reservation. Not being a seafood fan, my husband ordered the tenderloin which he raved about. I had the yellowfin tuna with the coconut curry broth - off the charts. One of our favorite spots for a romantic night out.
