My date and I fully enjoyed the experience. It was her first visit to Fin Seafood Restaurant and she was impressed.
We went for burger night and it was wonderful. The burgers were all prepared to request and the sides were excellent. Sabrina was outstanding!
Definitely one of my favorite restaurants. The freshness of the food is outstanding. The cocktails were divine .
Had a wonderful lunch on the patio! The seafood quesadillas were excellent!
Always a delicious surprise every time I go. I have never been disappointed. Two years and still a devoted customer!!!
Food was excellent except for the corn soup that was served at room temperature.
One of our favorite restaurant in Newport News. Indoor and outdoor seating, varied menu and great cocktail and wine options. This restaurant should be on your list when visiting the area.
We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff was very attentive to us and our special occasion. We ordered the crab cake entree and scallop entree, and they were both delicious and plated beautifully.
We decided on the 7 course meal which was outstanding. Great way to experience many of the dishes on the menu and portions were not too tiny. Only complaint, if you want to call it that, is everyone at the table is required to order the same multi course meal even if paying on separate tickets. Glad our excellent waiter explained that up front rather than waiting until taking our order as it is one of the pricier items on the menu. Great food and great experience-we will definitely return.
Food and staff is amazing as always! Their burger special on Thursday was absolutely delicious!
We have dined here numerous times prior to Covid-19 and have consistently given very good reviews. This was our first time back after one year. Sadly there is no longer wonderful fresh food prepared in interesting ways, even though the menu remains largely unchanged. The corn/crab soup remains outstanding, but the octopus with celery root puree and crispy skin bass entree were now so loaded with salt that true flavors are overwhelmed. Sad with this new crew. Both purees used for these seems to have been held for quite awhile and no longer complimented the dish.
The service here has always been impeccable but now silver was not changed after use, water glasses not refilled. The waiter seemed to have much to cover in the bar area while we were in the main dining room with only one other couple.
We have been here for multiple family events, but will have to move on. Hope things recover.
We went to experience the African Wine Dinner and we were truly satisfied with meal pairings and the wine. I am looking forward to going back.
Food was a little pricey but it was amazing. Service was excellent. Great place for a special occasion and also fine dining.
This was my second visit and it was as great an experience as the first. Signature cocktails, interesting appetizers, awesome main courses, delicious desserts and knowledgeable and friendly servers. What's not to love!
Food, cocktails and service were outstanding. We will definitely be back.
Always a great fine dining experience.
We sat outside by the bar and there was a lot of street noise, but a nice atmosphere. Waiter was very attentive and the food was wonderful. We had Burgers Bourbon and Beer. There were nice options for the burgers and everyone was happy with what they chose.
The best restaurant in Newport News. The menu is varied, the food is wonderful and the service is great.
Overall amazing experience. Our waitress Stormy (I think that was her name) was extremely helpful and took great care of us. Also, the bartender, Matt was knowledgeable and asked questions to get me exactly what I wanted. I will be returning to this restaurant.
It seems absolutely bizarre to me that people in a 7-Eleven can be onboard with appropriate mask wearing, but in the fanciest restaurant in town they can’t seem to figure it out. None of the waitstaff except one girl we’re wearing their masks correctly, and none of the kitchen staff were wearing theirs above their chins. The tables were not socially distanced at all and there were no partitions between booths.. The food was fine although overpriced (3 scallops for $32....), but the stress of wondering whether this is how and where we get Covid I could’ve definitely done without.
Really love this place, very relaxing, food is great. Especially worth the trip for the corn soup.
Outstanding food and attentiveness. Having been impressed by daughter establishment Fin and Tonic, wanted to try the parent. Fabulous.
We ordered don julio anejo tequila, the waitress brings us clear drinks and swore the bartender said it was a special version. It was absolutely silver tequila, probably patron. Very upset by this betrayal.
Great food..good drinks. Service wasn't good. Server must have been new. Wrong drink order. Waited 20 min for bar drink. No comp on the screw up. She asked our preference..said pescatarian..she went on to tell us all the steak specials. 🤣
Great place for anniversary. More expensive than advertised on open table.
Before you buy the food ask how it comes. A lot of dishes were raw or under cooked. Not their fault that’s just how they serve it
Great place foe a special occasion. Unique menu and great service.
The worst night ever!!
We were totally disappointed in the night as a total. The ambiance was not fit for the night, bright lights and the feeling of being rushed by the staff was disconcerting. The food was bland and tasteless to the point we needed to ask for salt and pepper. For the price we paid we are not impressed at all! It was so bad that when we left we went to Mc Donald's and ate chicken nuggets and a big Mac and was so much more satisfied than the expensive non palatable food we ate at fin. Normally I would appreciate an expensive plate that was worth the price but this was far from it just due to the lack of flavor, absolutely disappointed! I will only go here from now on for she crab soup only!!
The food was just ok, the lady time we did this everything we had was Like wow!!! This time not so much. Not saying it was bad, but was disappointed especially after paying almost 200 dollars. The portion sizes were also quite small compared to last time as well.
Valentine’s Day
Food was great, except for being rushed, and main course being served before our salad. Great wait staff, very professional and attentive. I would go again. Octopus was fantastic. Overall very good but expensive. Staff may have been rushed due to Valentines Day.
Poor service (Storm) was not expected at a place that charges the prices that they do. Late with drinks, absent with plates and silverware. Slow and untimely throughout the evening. Mumbled such that no one could tell what was being said. Had to pay $1 per "crystal" ice cube in my $12 bourbon... Never heard of such a thing. I have come to the conclusion that dinner was not worth the price when the service was so poor. I don't mind paying for the dinner but the service has to be on par. It will probably be some time before we try them again.
Valentines Day Date
I have been to Fin about 10 times and I have always enjoyed it. There are not many really good restaurants in our area for some reason. The general population seem to prefer chain restaurants around here. But if you want a great night out and a great dinner then go to FIN!!!!
It was a special dinner with a friend/client that became a bit emotional as she opened up about her marital difficulties and divorce decisions she was having to make this week. Our server was very polite, but I wish she had just delivered us the white Chardonnay I ordered without suggesting another that I did not think was better, and I believe more expensive. I agreed to it quickly just to get back to our conversation, wishing we had not been interrupted. I was confused as to why it wasn’t left on the table for us to finish. She kept coming back with it again and again to refill our glasses. Interrupting our conversation each time. Maybe you are short on chillers? And the scallops were amazing, but the risotto was not as creamy and flavorful as it usually is, still enjoyed it.
The plates are beautiful when they come to your table. But the amount of money you spend is not worth it. My plate was $55 dollars, and I was still hungry when I left. The “Bison NY Strip,” was different. But the plate lacks sides!! All of the appetizers at this restaurant are overpriced. And they always say they don’t have something on the menu. They also need A-1 or Heinz 57 sauces available. The steaks really lack flavor, and yes I have ordered the $120 Wagyu Beef Tenderloin. I wish I could have drowned it with Heinz 57. The place is nice, I just can’t go back. I’ve been three times and I think that’s enough. Oh yeah, they don’t tell you about the “secret charge on drinks”. You pay for the liquor and the juice separate. The Bud light in the bottle tasted old. It’s a nice restaurant, don’t get me wrong. They need to scale back on these ridiculous prices. I received less than a spoon full of mash potatoes on my Bison plate. The service is great and the scallops are to die for. I just can’t support this restaurant anymore. Fine dining is cool, but cheating people out their money is another thing.
Very nice, formal restaurant. I definitely would recommend this place for a date.
Awesome food! We will be back.
Food was so good. I always have a great experience.
Great food as always. Felt rushed throughout entire dinner and table was in a corner against a wall so experience could have been better.
