Fin - The Mirage Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten here many times before and loved it. This time we were very disappointed. Our lemon chicken was undercooked, being still pink inside. They did offer to exchange it for something else. There was nothing special in the flavor of the other foods as compared to our local Chinese restaurants at a much more reasonable price. We will not be returning as there are much better options in Las Vegas.
No, No, No and No... This is actually the second time we visited Fin. We were not impressed the first time (2 years ago), but my partner was willing to give Chinese food another chance. I was hoping to convince him Chinese food can be great... wrong choice of restaurant!
A few cons:
1. Peiking Duck (half): for $40+, we were given a tiny "bird" with little to eat. The meat was cold! And not crispy enough. There were only 4 pieces of white buns. Again cold!
2. String beans with XO sauce: not prepared properly. The texture of the beans were tough.
3. The waiter brought our chopsticks with bare hands. They could have at least wrapped them in tissues... Err...
We are not coming back.
The Chardonnay was good, but the menu is confusing for the Conundrum item on wine list. Vegetarian lettuce wraps were OK but not what we expected. The beef Chow Mein was OK as well. The pan fried noodles were OK and had nice scallops and shrimp. Found it very expensive for what you got.
Friendly hostess attending to us quickly. Nice quiet seating for my sister in law and myself. We were craving Chinese and this was super fresh and delicious. Not enough servers so hostess took our order but server was attentive once meal was ordered. The hostess also recommended one meal between the 2 of us as the portion size is large and we would have wasted a lot of food. After reading the reviews I thought it would be a 50/50 chance of being good. We were impressed!
We were looking for a light meal at the Mirage in a quiet place before taking in a late show. Fin provided all that with a pleasant ambiance. However, it is basic Chinese fare after all, and the $119 bill for two was too steep for even well-prepared dishes, but, you know, Chinese.
You can't go wrong with ordering the General Cho's chicken. That was the best dish we had last night. Mongolian beef is good too. I typically prefer to eat white steam rice over brown when eating Asian food but their brown rice is moist , nutty and really delicious.
Fin is a Chinese winner! Great break from the hub bub in the casino. Once you walk in it is quiet, classy and peaceful. The food it outstanding and is served quickly and with a gorgeous presentation style (wife's sweet and sour chicken was served in a half of a hollowed out pineapple!). Reasonably priced too. I heartily recommend Fin for a great Chinese experience - we will be back!
We thought that the waiter was just a busboy because he never asked us if we wanted anything outside of water. He mumbled under his breath and was not very attentive. It was our first experience there but he seemed uninterested. The food was excellent but the value of the food was a little expensive.
The restaurant promotes itself as Chinese modern cuisine. Portions are fairly large. We ordered Lemon Chicken and Pad Thai with Shrimp entrees with Chinese broccoli, sticky rice and cocktails. Might have just been our selections, but everything was just OK. Service was good, but bill was kind of high. Fortunately we received a 20% discount for being a Nevada resident. Restaurant itself is beautifully decorated.
Overpriced--as are all restaurants at the Mirage from what I can tell. Food was good but not exceptional. The space was pretty. Service not really helpful. At least gives you the option of ordering a few entrees and eating family style. Was disappointed in the cocktail list so ordered wine--at $16 a glass you will save significantly if you stick to water
Beautifully decorated - friendly staff and quick service. The only downside was we sat by a table by the doors that were open to the casino. The noise and smoke was disruptive and seeing that I had my kids with me I didn't like smelling smoke through the meal.
