Fin Izakaya brings authentic Japanese dining to Toronto. Here, in a casual atmosphere, guests can enjoy a filling and delicious meal with friends, family and/or coworkers. All of the ingredients for the dishes served here are hand-picked by the chefs at Fin Izakaya, ensuring their freshness and quality.
In addition to traditional Japanese favorites, Fin Izakaya also offers a unique experience by offering sashimi tapas plates to share. Some popular tapas selections include smoked bonito tataki, spicy salmon tartare and miso ginger tuna tartare. À la cart options include octopus, scallop, tuna, salmon, yellowtail and others, and the restaurant has a good selection of Japanese beers to go with any meal.
The food is good, fish was fresh, and it seems like you can actually get a seat!
Personally I think the pricing is a bit better than Guu, and they always have drink specials!
If you want to bring a date around mid town, this is a great fun place to chit chat.
On the flip side, I brought my dad and family for his birthday!
Nothing special about the food. I think they are better when they first opened. Also the service was better before. For example when we order the small hotpot, used to have ppl came looked after the hotspot and cook and serve but when they are busy , they just completely forgot about us ... Kinda disappointed .
I took my birthday friend there for dinner. I talked to the receptionist about my friend's birthday when arrived. She said she was going to bring a cake by the end. Nobody came with the cake and I don't want to remind our waiter in front of my friend.
We were stuck in a small room on the back. Few time, I have to come out to find my waiter for order. Food was amazing and the service was a disappointment.
Hope they don't move, since the building will be condos...
We ordered the BBQ Snapper, it was quite disappointing though.............no favor and tasted like the frozen fish from the refrigerator.
We found quite salty on any dishes this time. We visit here not so often, more like twice or three times a year, and we always enjoyed coming here. However, we thought we might have to look for another restaurant next time.
Initially went with a friend of mine for tapas. They let us order off the dinner menu at lunch when it died down. The food was great, service is good. Overall a great place to chat and eat good food. The place opens at 1130am -4pm for lunch which is great !!
Recommend for sure!
Authentic in taste and atmosphere. Servers are attentive and quick with orders, serving, and distributing of dishes. Food is delicious. The table grill (oysters and scallops) were a pleasant surprise. Cannot go wrong with the lobster+clams hot pot special, nor the blow-torched mackerel. Atmosphere is great for close friends and family. Will definitely visit again!
Fin Izakaya was recommended to me by a friend. This occasion was our second visit; first time was as a couple, second time was with another couple. I love the atmosphere at this place, loud, energetic and fun! The food is good and interesting with lots of variety. The portions are small and I found the prices to be on the high side for the amount and quality. That being said, the cooked entrees were delicious, particularly the hot pots and the seared angus steak. In my opinion, the sashimi there was mediocre quality and small portions. The octopus balls are also delicious, but again, small portion. We also ordered the deep fried shrimp and I was disappointed to find out, after having put one in my mouth, that the tails were still on and invisible since being covered in batter. The service the second time around did not compare to the first, which was very attentive. Additionally, we travelled from Bloor West village to this location first time by car which was a disaster since Eglinton is full of construction and is an absolute mess. The second visit we took TTC and it was much more accessible without the hassle. All in all, Fin Izakaya has pros and cons, try it once for sure. After 2 visits, we won't be returning however.
One of my favourite restaurants and always a pleasure to eat here. Staff and food is very consistent.
I've been to this place few times. Great services and great food there. Perfect place to chill with group of friends.
food was very salty, small portion and expensive than what you really get.
will not go here again.
picked this place as I had not tried it before...we had a wonderful experience. The food was interesting, delicious and the server was most helpful and charming. Will be going back soon!
Our waiter was excellent! He was so friendly and gave recommendations on specials. He always came to fill my water. The food was good and presentation was beautiful. Can't complain. It does get very loud after 6pm, so more with friends or couples who don't talk to much, but just want to enjoy the crowd and food :)
Loved the food, service and ambiance! Will definitely be back for the wasabi ginger tuna tartar!
Fin Izakaya has always been one of my fav iazkayas in Toronto.
Super friendly staff, never failed :)
Always full of energy and has lots of great food.
Awesome new lunch hours available as well.
Keep it up Fin! :)
Umpteenth time; kawahagi still the best on the planet!
Menu has been changed but I like the old one more, less varieties now. Prices of draught beer are up too . Our server was probably on training, we had to wait a long time to be served. Overall, both food and service quality going down slightly.
Excellent food, very fresh, a bit pricey. Service is good but slow at times. Very good menu, I would definitely recommend to a friend.
The Japanese staff at Fin Izakaya were gracious and polite. Their hospitality was the same attention to detail that I'd expect to see in Japan - which is rare in Toronto. The food is pricier but nicely presented. As Izakayas are bars, they're noisy and open. But they make a great place to meet up with a group of people
excellent!! Fun atmosphere and great service. The food is always tasty and so different than the mainstream
The owner, manager and all of staff were so attentive and food was amazing always. We appreciate their hospitality and always feel like we were in Japan. Surprise birthday dessert was impressive!! Thank you so much!!
Always, always fun and very good! Excellent service, unusual Japanese tapas and other food and lots of energy.
Fin Izakaya was great place as always :-) I and friends had a good time!
The waiters there provided suitable and great recommendations as we had two small kids with us. Loved
the idea of the fish auction!! Food portions were a but small but very delicious.
every portion is pretty small you can see if you order salmon sashimi but quality is ok and you can choose the source you like
We had a great meal at fin izakaya. The only drawback was the terrible music they were playing. It was 90s boy band hell.
Well-rounded restaurant. I highly suggest the futomaki rolls.
I have been to Fin a few times and this was my worst experience.
The food was really bad, and expensive for the price of it.
I wouldn't go back again.
From the freshest of fish to the tastiest izakayas, Fin's is consistently one of the best.
Wonderful as always! The Beef tongue and dried Kawahagi were again delicious! Service is super friendly. Highly recommended.
The food and atmosphere was amazing. the staff were nice and helpful. Only thing that would keep me from visiting very frequently is the slightly high price. Don't get me wrong, the food quality is definitely worth the price, but it does take a bit to get full.
10th visit or so. This time, They had bought a giant tuna and made sashimi from it right there and then. Exquisite. Super friendly service. Beef tongue also great. Feels like an extension of our home.
This wasn't our first time to Fin and we've never been disappointed. We always try something different everytime we go and it's always delicious.
I went for my husband's Birthday;)
All the food was amazing and price was very good and all the staff gave us great service too!!
I'm sure we're going back soon:)
Delicious real Izakaya food, from kawahagi (dried fish) to blowtorched mackerel to fried saury etc. etc. all washed down with Asahi Super Dry on tap(!) imported from Japan by the restaurant. Service super-friendly and of course, with lots of smiles. Highly recommended.
This is the place to be if you're looking for excellent food, an atmosphere of exuberance and service that welcomes you from the moment you enter to taking your leave. The food choices are interesting, varied and well presented. The ambiance is what you would expect for the nature of the restaurant - fun and full of positive energy. And the service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
If you want to enjoy tasty Japanese food but don't want to be able to have a conversation or even hear yourself think, Fin Izakaya is a raucous and fun place to go. The food is great and the party atmosphere - if it's your thing - is wonderful. If, however, you want a quiet dinner, look elsewhere. The staff shout and cheer, the music was cranked up to 11, and my companion and I had to shout. The service was incredibly slow, too: we ordered a second course of a fairly simple rice dish and seafood, and this took so long to come that we missed our movie. I wouldn't mind going again but I'd have to be in the right mood for it.
I've been to a few Izakayas and really enjoyed Fin. The menu is extensive and offers many choices. Food is made with care and it shows. Portions are a bit small for the price but this is characteristic of many Izakayas, not just Fin. Staff regularly come to check on tables and used plates do not get much of a chance to pile up. Spotless washrooms indicate a great deal of cleanliness. Nice assortment of sakes to enjoy. Would definitely visit again.
We had our 18th aniversary dinner over there. Our server "K" advised a really nice sake to us.....anyway, what a great guy!
