It was my 31st birthday (we noted this in my reservation) but we had to wait over 10 mins past our reservation time to be sat, then the table that was sat next to us after us was greeted and taken care of before us. There was no birthday amenities and our table was very poorly sat... very disappointed.

A must-go around Christmas time because of the eclectic decorations. We had to wait 30 minutes after our reservation but we were brought complementary Champaign-which made it ok 😊. Food was delicious, service perfect and after dinner drink a surprise. Lovely evening while visiting my daughter here.

Super disappointed in this visit to Filomena. It is certainly catering to tourists and not the local residents. It was my first visit back after moving from the DC area 2 years ago and I was super excited to dine at a former favorite restaurant. We made an early reservation because this was a family diner and we stood with a pregnant woman and a 3 year old while waiting 35 minutes to be seated after our reservation time. Once we were seated we waited 20 minutes for a waiter to greet us, he stopped by, and then it was another 20 minutes before anyone checked back in with waters and another 15 minutes before the wine arrived and the opportunity to place our order. We were there an hour and a half before the bread course arrived. We did enjoy our appetizer and salad courses, but the lag in our seating and service upon being seated resulted in us having to depart right after our entrees arrived . The portions were large, but it only resulted in a large carry out container. The personal touch of being a valued patron no longer exists at this restaurant.

We were seated on time but took about 15 min for a waiter to cone over. It was as we were in a no man's land. Also our food arrived within 7-8 minutes after we ordered, way to fast and then we had to request silverware. We felt rushed to eat and the waiter stood by the table looking for us to leave. Not a relaxing Sunday brunch.

Cookie-cutter but still, attentive, service, from an old-fashioned , neighborhood Italian. Food was very fresh, though not unique. Great family destination or with others who like robust "typical" Italian, which is well prepared. Be forewarned: At the end of dinner, you will be offered Salsiccio di Casa & be presented with 2 large self-pour decanters of generic Italian liquors. The server announced what sounded like they were on the house. No price was mentioned. It was only after returning home & looking at the itemized bill, that we realized we had been charged $14.50 for the tiny taste we took from the decanters.

The food was great as usual but the service was ver very poor. We asked to be moved to a more comfortable table. Was told no all tables were in use which I did not believe the 5 other empty tables ever though the charming view of the kitchen sat empty. Waiters were constantly numbing out chairs with no apology it was very uncomfortable I believe it all happened because we were a table of all women if there had been a man present. Shame on you. I have never been treated so rudely. When I go to this restaurant I expect it to be loud and busy. But not to be facing the kitchen and knocked
Around like I was on a bucking bronchi. Very dissapointing

In anticipation of visiting DC, I made a reservation; I had eaten at Filomena's 20 years ago and remember the food . I finally returned and the food was as spectacular as I remembered. Last time, the place was decorated for Halloween; this time, they decked the halls, ceiling, etc. for Christmas. It is much more expensive than I usually spend, but worth it for a special occasion.

We enjoy coming here with family and friends. The food service and ambience are amazing. The large portions helps you linger on the food to relish it and enjoy some for lunch next day. We had sea food pasta and veal Marsala, both were excellent.

Filomena has the best Italian cuisine
I have ever had. Being from the New York City area, and having dined at innumerable restaurants, that's saying a lot. The atmosphere is great, portions are HUGE ( more than enough to share and take some home). Every entree' I have had and every appetizer are phenomenal.

We visited Filomena while in DC for the holiday season. Food was great and authentically Italian with large portions so definitely see why this restaurant has been popular since the '80s. Restaurant was also nicely decorated for the holiday season to assist in getting in a festive holiday mood. Staff was prompt, friendly, and timely given that the place was totally packed. Only downside was that we had a Sunday evening reservation for 6:30 PM and didn't get seated until almost 7:15 PM with the waiting area being small and very cramped. We would definitely would visit again, but would try to pick a better time window to avoid the holiday crush.

Filomena Ristorante has become a favorite go-to restaurant for special occasions. The food is always excellent and the service is impeccable. The food is authentic Italian that could rival my grandmother's cooking. Actually Filomena's is the only restaurant where I will order meatballs. I have never found another restaurant that comes close to homemade and have given up even trying. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Be sure to save room for dessert. Best Cannoli ever!

Amazing Italian food! Probably the best you can get in the DMV area. I will always recommend this place to friends and family for if they are looking for great Italian food. I only have one gripe and that’s the service was lacking. Can probably chalk that up to time of year and being too busy, but this place is always busy.

All the best!
