Crowded, but amazing service and huge portions of delicious classic Italian dishes. So good that after having dinner on Friday that we returned for lunch on Sunday. We had the delicious Arancini both times to start. Linguini Cardinale and veal Marsala were both fantastic for dinner. Both large enough to share. The linguini cardinale had the amount of lobster found in an entire lobster including both claws.
For lunch it was their lasagna and chicken marsala. Attentive, professional service is the standard. No wonder it is so difficult to score a reservation here. Worth every penny.
Filomena will fill you up with yummy homemade pasta. The stuffed mushrooms and linguini cardinale are the bomb!
While I’ve been coming to Filomena’s for years, I was a little disappointed this time around. The food was wonderful as always, but since my table declined to order any alcohol, the service took a nosedive from there. I’m not a big fan of establishments where the wait staff treat you poorly/ignore you because the table doesn’t order any alcohol. It was also strange that it was a birthday celebration and they still charge you for dessert. Most restaurants give the birthday person a free dessert, especially when they put a candle on the cake and sing happy birthday. The next time there’s a special occasion, I’ll have to think twice about spending it here.
Filomina's never fails to impress, with quality Italian Fare and a very attentive staff, they are the best in DC!
The portions were insanely large and it was very loud inside. Wasn’t crazy about the manicotti or my husbands vodka rigatoni. Wouldn’t go back.
Over priced. Incredibly loud. Mediocre italian food
Fantastic food - consider sharing.
This is my favorite restaurant. I will visit every time I visit DC.
We should have known but we were pretty disappointed in the ponderously heavy food. Fried calamari was a highlight in an otherwise old-school-not-in-a-good-way experience. Sticking to the simple red sauce dishes is probably the best course of action if you have to go.
We had been told to visit Filomena if ever in Georgetown. She did not disappoint. Large portions of impeccably prepared dishes. I had the shrimp risotto with their famous lobster sauce and it was marvelous. My daughter had the mushroom manicotti and was equally pleased. Thank you Filomena.
Very tastefull food, italian ambient and recipes, big big plates, to share if you are not too hungry! I recommend the ossobuco and ngocci ! Very good restaurant , a must be experience when in D.C !
Best Italian food and unbelievable cannoli!!
Great food. Way too much in each serving. I wish they had half plates. Good service. Love the after dinner drinks! (Order the Sunday Sauce.)
Amazing dinner. Prices are high and Portion sizes are very large. I wished I had known this because I would have split a meal with my mom or daughter. Since we were flying home the next morning, taking home leftovers was impossible. Regardless, it was easily the best Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to. The brisket rigatoni was outstanding!!
Great place for a supersized delicious meal. Trully italian sauces in an unforgetable experience!
Best traditional Italian dinner ever!!
Amazing as ever! Took a friend visiting from out of town and Filomena per usual did not disappoint
The homemade pasta is killer and so are the meatballs. The portion sizes are massive which is great if you live in the area and want to have leftovers for the week. If you’re from out of town, though, it’s a BIG WASTE of food. I recommend sharing plates!
Food was very good, but restaurant was too crowded and noisy, as a result we will not be returning. Tables too close together, walkways so narrow, that the back of the diner's chair is constantly bumped as other diners and waitstaff walk by. Noise made it next to impossible to hold conversation. The quality of food was excellent and would consider take out as a possible option.
Great service and as always, good food.
One word to describe the dinning experience is all you need.
Food was delicious! This was my second time there. Definitely will be back again!!
My family and friends came to dinner last night to this restaurant. What a great experience. The staff is so kind and alert. And the food, was excellent. Fresh pasta and the sauces were so amazing. I highly recommend coming back here
Best Italian Resturant in the US. Selection is outstanding and very authentic at a reasonable price pint. Good wine selection and great service
This was so good we went two nights in a row ! Possibly best old school Italian we have ever had ! Noisy but so worth it !
Food was fabulous and oversized. We all took home leftovers. Service was fantastic although we served very quickly (almost too quick between first & second course). Love setting but it was very loud on the night we last visited - hard to hear any of the conversation at our table.
Everyone was very attentive, courteous and professional!
Food was absolutely amazing. Second time being here and it did not disappoint. Looking forward to my next visit.
The place offres awesome food! Price moderate to high. Ambience a bit noisy for a date, at times you ha e rise your voice. The head waiter "Tony" forgot that I mentioned that it was special ocassion, again he forgot! Waiters should have a way to present the menu, and make recommendations.
The food is delicious! Portions are large, and they are priced for their size. The seafood pasta is outstanding, and everyone loves the meet sauces!
Have eaten here a number of times. While the food continues to be outstanding, in a way, the restaurant is a victim of it's own success. It's crowded, noisy, and getting a bit too "Let's upsell".
I certainly will return but will prepare better for the experience.
Very nice anniversary dinner. Service is always good. Food was great and enough for two more dinners at home!!
Delicious Italian food. Started with warm bread served to the table with olive oil herbs and small black olive pieces for dipping. Had the Calamari appetizer with warm marinara sauce. Two of us split the spinach and ricotta ravioli in a light cream sauce. The other diner had lasagna and loved it. All serving sizes were ample portions and non of us could finish our meals. Constant attention to refilling water and beverages, small containers happily given to us to wrap up leftovers. Too full but desserts looked great.
Linguini cardinale the best ever
Service well-intentioned but very amateurish. Food very heavy, large portions of traditional Italian food. Solid but not anything special. Probably wouldn’t go back. If you like Maggiano’s and want a similar non-chain place, try this. Otherwise, many better choices for Italian in the city.
Amazing food. Long wait at 9 on a Thursday ....says a lot about the place. Setting is nothing special - doesn’t look like they’ve invested a dime in the restaurant in 20 years - bt the amazing food makes up for it.
Fantastico as an italian would have said
lived up to all the hype!
This place is outstanding!!
We came here while on vacation at the recommendation of my brother in law. Everything was perfect - the food, the service, the ambiance.
