Overall outstanding dining experience. The entrees were pricey, but simply excellent. Unfortunately I thought the dark chocolate mousse pie I ordered for dessert was too big and WAY too sweet -- I took three bites and had to throw the rest out. My wife's tiramisu didn't have any cocoa power sprinkle, which was a bit weird, but it was still good, nevertheless. The restaurant is very crowded and very noisy -- if you're looking for a quiet place for an intimate dinner date, this is not the place. But for great Italian food with excellent choices on the menu, Filomena is definitely a winner.
Really fantastic spot for a birthday, or special occasion. Great food!
I will never eat at another Italian restaurant again unless it is here!
What a fabulous restaurant. Food was delicious. Gnocchi were like little puffs of heaven. Chicken parmigiana was scrumptious. Waitress was very attentive and did not rush you at all. Love the after dinner drinks too.
Always the best, has been my favorite for many years! They never disappoint! The best Sunday Sauce!!!!
Filomena NEVER disappoints! Caesar out server was fantastic. It is the best Italian in DC.
Overall, Filomena Ristorante seems like a wonderful institution of the DC area. The service was great and the food was good too.
Good food and service. Must visit when in Georgetown.
Excellent food in large portions.
The waiter was excellent, the food was supereb and the environment was intimate and a great place to have dinner in Georgetown.
Delicious as usual. Got there early this time - ravioli special was delicious. Service impeccable. Quiet and a great treat on a business trip.
Over priced food, food taste/flavor barely average, too noisy to speak with others at table
Filomena's is a must stop anytime we come to DC. Great food, great service!!
Food was very good. Waiter was fine but, because it was so busy, took awhile to warm up to us. Speaking of busy--we were packed in like sardines! Table too small to hold everything, noise level too high for easy conversation and lighting too dim to read the menus--TG for smart phone lights! I might go again because of the food but would try to find a date/time when it's less busy.
We learned about this on
Food Network so we were excited to go and it was fantastic. The service staff was great and the food was even better! I wish we lived closer to we could go more often. I highly recommend it.
Filomena was the Best Italian food I had since
My Grandmother cooked for me. I enjoyed
The lively atmosphere and our Waiter was
Fabulous. For real Authentic Italian in DC
Come to Filomena.
I love the ambiance. It's a dining experience vs just dinner! This time I chose one of the specials vs one of the classic menu items, I prefered my classic favorites over the special I chose. It was still outstanding, however I missed having Sunday Sauce on this occasion. It is always a dining pleasure to partake at Filomena's.
Come hungry and settle in for divine Italian food.
BEST ITALIAN I've ever had...hands down--and I used to work for a company in Milan, so I've been to Italy several times. Pricey, but worth every penny....GO!! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!
This restaurant was suggested by a local friend, and it did not disappoint. The meal and wine was excellent. The venue was nice, and my family enjoyed every minute of it. Overall good atmosphere, food, and experience. Would recommend and definitely come back.
Always delicious! The best Italian restaurant I have been in DC so far. I highly recommend it.
I've been making dinner reservations for business executives to dine at Filomena's for years and decided I wanted to experience this establishment for myself. My husband, 23 year old son and I came out to celebrate my birthday this past Sunday. My son was SO IMPRESSED with the service, quantity and quality of food, he proclaimed someday when he decides to get married he's going to propose to his future wife at Filomena's! He had the Tortelloni di Michele. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. We look forward to making more memories at Filomena's.
Excellent food, and huge portions. Service was good, but waiter was not particularly friendly.
Nicola was the best. Awrsome evening.
Very nice old-world restaurant. Food and service were great, decor and little over the top. All around very happy experience.
This was our first time at Filomena Ristorante and it did not disappoint! We had reservations for 4:30 for dinner before a show at the Kennedy Center and we arrived about 10 or 15 minutes late as traffic was terrible getting across the Key bridge. They sat us immediatey and we enjoyed some wonderful and tasty breads. My wife ordered the Seafood Risoto and I had the Festivale in Venezia, a seafood dish with jumbo shrimp, scallops and lobster meat with a red lobster sauce over fettucini. We both loved the meal and it was enough that we took home half for lunch the next day. The desert menu was so good looking, I had the Haselnut Daquoise and my wife had the Tres Leches Cake. Both were outstanding. This was a moderate priced restaurant, however not expensive and worth every penny. The food, service and ambiance were all great. Parking is easy right across the street in a public, pay parking garage. We will definitely return and try some of their other dishes!
Food is always good with large portions. Only complaint is this place is not the most baby friendly. We had no issues with taking my 4 month old son as I knew the stroller wouldn't be able to go down the stairs (collapsed it and carried him in his carrier, they stored stroller in back by the dessert display). We put the carrier on the booth/ seat next to me which wasn't ideal but enough space for us. There is no changing table in the bathroom or space to change a diaper that isn't on the floor so that was the biggest issue.
After we said we didn’t want dessert our waiter told us we both we had to order desserts in order to get happy birthday sung to us by the staff. It was my 40th and my husbands 50th. We Didn’t even mention it was our birthday that night and we weren’t looking for anyone to sing to us. I mentioned our bday in the booking because I wanted a nicer table.
I then had ordered a decaf coffee with some Bailey’s in the same waiter told me no because they were going to bring us amaretto and Sambuca drink of which we did not want. I just wanted my coffee after my meal. I waited for about 15 minutes to see if he was going to bring the coffee like I had ordered and it never came and he just came with the check so we just paid and left.
The food was excellent and will probably be back again because I do love the restaurant. For such a special occasion and we were looking so forward to it it kind of made us leave with a little bit of a sour taste.
Excellent food & service!
The portions were HUGE and the food is absolutely amazing. The service was wonderful. The place was crowded and loud, but it felt like having a really festive meal with all the crazy, loud relatives. We enjoyed our dinner immensely!
Incredible food with wonderful ambience. Large portions and amazing sides - as a vegan there were limited entree's however the vegan sides were so delicious I ate them as a meal and they didn't disappoint. Great, friendly service and generous pouring too - we were thrilled!
This was my first time here and it did not disappoint! The food is so amazing; homemade pasta's and sauces. They included the salad bar to our meals for free! The cannoli was to die for! The service was timely and efficient, we wanted for nothing. I cannot wait to go back!
The place is far from an authentic Italian restaurant. Although the service was that good, thanks for our waiter Anthony, the food is a poor adaptation of what we found in our recent trip to Italy. Besides the huge portions that make the ‘heathy’ community suck, the sauce mostly tasted like being just out of it he can. Too busy, too dark, and even with reservation you should expect to stand waiting for about 30 minutes.
My favorite restaurant in DC. Food is excellent and always dine here when in town!!
Visiting Washington DC and our Lyft driver recommended this place as the best Italian she has ever had! We set up reservations, took a ride to George Town and we were not disappointed. The best service, food and ambiance. Portion sizes are enough for two people, and I was able to get it packed up to go and eating left overs in California.
The restaurant was incredibly hot and loud. My pasta came with two whole sausages, two massive meatballs and a mini rack of ribs dumped on top of it - no concept at all of how to make an attractive plate of food. And FAR too much meat on the plate. Nothing subtle about this type of Italian cuisine.
I went by myself and they accommodated me in a very nice table in the middle of the room. i never felt that I was eating alone. Food and service excellent. i will come back in my next trip to DC
Perhaps I set my expectations too high, as I had seen some rave reviews of this restaurant. It was a disappointment. The place was excessively loud. The food was fair. The sauce and fried tomato under my crab cakes were way too sweet. The risotto had more cheese than rice and just didn't taste very good. We tried to make a substitution for angel hair for one dish and the waiter just said it couldn't be done. He made no extra effort, until we pushed him to see if we could pay an upcharge and make the switch.
