Filomena Ristorante
Filomena is perfect for the business luncheon or the elegant candle light dinner.
Excellent pasta, get the rice balls as an appetizer!
Our party of eight experienced a highly memorable night of dining. The food was magnificent and the service was first rate. We chose a variety of entrees including pasta, risotto and veal. Their famous Cardinale sauce was amazing as was the Veal Saltambocca. Probably the best Italian restaurant I've experienced with the exception of the highly rated Tony's in St. Louis.
Truly outstanding and highly recommended.
Food was delicious except one of the entree we ordered was on the salty side
The good here was incredible and we all enjoyed it. The service was amazing too. I'll definitely be returning.
We had a wonderful time eating at Filomena Ristorante! This place is so traditional that there are literally 2 women in the front window making fresh pasta. Adorable. We were there with 2 other couples. Everyone's food was delicious. Appetizers were perfect. Entrees were great. I would recommend eating anything with a tomato based sauce. The sauces were rich with flavor and tasted as though they'd been cooking for days. One friend ate the ravioli stuffed with meat. Unbelievably well executed! Another friend ate gnocchi with meatsauce. Delicious! The desserts were all very satisfying as well. I strongly recommend this cute place for a traditional Italian dinner.
Dined with party of 10. Great service and fantastic food. Homemade pasta dishes all delicious.
This is my second visit to Filomena. By far, regarding authentic Italian food, there is no other restaurant that tops Filomena's. The atmosphere is always homely and comfortable, the wine list is great and the food fantastic. I will be a frequent guest in the future.
Great Food and excellent service
I love Italian and Filomena delivers excellent Italian food. Prices are reasonable and the menu is extensive. I can't wait to go back.
Loved my experience dinning at Filomena's. The place was well decorated for Easter and the food was fabulous. Our dessert was topped off with complimentary sambucca. Doesn't get much better than this!
My friends and I come once a year and love Filomena....
Second year on our yearly girls (65+) week-end away we ate at Filomena; it was great!
Food was very good. Although the restaurant was very busy, food arrived fairly quickly and was hot. Food was very good, especially the homemade pasta. Would strongly recommend the ravioli. However, note that the portions are VERY large. Our only disappointment was the amount we left on our plates (unusual for my gang) as we were staying in a hotel and could not bring back the leftovers. Too full to try the desserts, but hey looked awesome. Service was wonderful -= very friendly and attentive without being annoying.
Would definitely recommend. We brought our three children (ages 15, 13 and 10) and they enjoyed it very much as well.
Interesting old style Italian food. Food was good, if a bit dated. Cost was, frankly, more than the meal was worth. Room was over decorated for Easter.
Incredible Italian food, you can't go wrong with anything you try here! I highly recommend Filomena's to everyone!
The food is amazing and the portions very generous. The Pasta Mamas are a treat.
We arrived a little early of our reservation and were able to be seated early. Waiter was very freindly and knew the menu. He recommended some great dishes. He was able to recommend some good wine since our first choice wasn't on the list. Food was served on a good ticket time. Waiter checked on us throughout the evening enough to be helpful and serving, but not to a point it was annoying. All courses were tasty and very delicious. We enjoyed our evening at the restaurant and look forward to returning.
Excellent food!
Look forward to eating here at least twice every time I come to DC.
Filomena had a fun and charming ambiance, attentive and friendly service, and delicious, authentic food. The portions were extremely large, but the ingredients were very fresh and everything tasted wonderful. I will be back, and will recommend to friends.
Met my USN son in DC for dinner and when I asked about a good place for us to eat, Filomena literally jumped out of the mount of my Farimont Hotel consierge. Great joice.
Fun special occasion restaurant.
The food on the buffet was was between good and ok. The service was a little slow considering that they weren't all that busy.
I went here for dinner on a Saturday evening. The first thing I noticed was that the place was really loud. My friends and I had to scream in order to hear each other. The place was really interesting. It was filled with... unique decorations. Quite frankly that doesn't matter to me as much because when I go to a restaurant, I'm more concerned about the food and service, rather than the paintings on the wall.
Our server was rarely there. He took quite a while to bring us the menu and take our orders. I could understand that though, it was a Saturday evening and the place was PACKED. It was ridiculous. The food was great. There were so many selections too! My friends and I tried various dishes and they were all very tasty.
It was a fun, Washington landmark to visit. It was drenched in Easter paraphernalia. The food was served in huge portions and was very good, except for the dishes my husband and I happened to order were a little too rich. And the restaurant is very, very, very loud. I knew that going in so I was prepared. It's definitely somewhere to visit at least once.
Delicious food. Everything is so fresh and tasty. The staff make you feel welcomed as part of their big Italian family. They ask your name and address you by your name and shake your hand as a welcome. The maitre d' also thanked us for visiting and wished that we would come back. It was just a very fun atmosphere and nicely decorated for Easter. It was nice to see so many large groups celebrating birthdays. The ending to the meal with the amaretto and sambuca caraffes was extremely generous and such a nice touch. The portions and the service and the family feel made this restaurant's prices very reasonable.
My time at Filomena's was very nice. The food was great and authentic. The restaurant was vibrant and very active. The space was a little tight and the noise increased; however, the taste of the food made up for all of the distractions. Will definitely re-visit
Words could not possibly convey how great a restaurant this is! Both Matre' D's (Dino and Mac) are outstanding professionals!!! The food and service are outstanding!!!
This is by far the best Italian Restaurant in DC!
This place is absolutely amazing! Fresh foods, great selections, and BIG portions! A little pricey but definitely worth it!
this restaurant, used to be great, now is dated, stayed in time, bunnies everywhere,
too crowed. over priced for it.
Noisy, crowded, food so so, very expensive
Desert selection good
Wonderful meal with attentive service. Shared a salad with my husband (INSALTA DI CORNUCOPIA). I loved the ShrimpGAMBERI DI PAPA ANTIMO and it is no exaggeration to say 100% crabmeat.
Portions were considerable. Waitstaff is outstanding. The best dessert I've ever had in a restaurant. Very loud but not annoying.
My husband and I had dinner reservations for 5:30 as we had tickets to the opera at The Kennedy Center at 7:30. Let's just say our dining experience was so wonderful we stayed past 7:00 and skipped the opera :-) All of our food and drinks (appetizer, shared salad, entrees, bottle of wine, desserts, and coffee), ambiance, and service were excellent. And our server, Sergio, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive. We had a lovely time with no complaints and can't wait to return!
Make your reservations early as this is a popular spot.Superb food--best Italian I have ever eaten. Three days later, I can still taste the outstanding flavors of my entree which was Tortelloni Di Michele. We began wiht Arancini for an appetizer, which was outstanding with a flavorful sauce. They are three very large balls and quite filling.I cannot begin to describe the flavors of the Tortelloni Di Michele. The beef is so tender and flavorful, it melts in your mouth. The sauce is divine--not too heavy and spiced perfectly. My only disappointment was that I could only eat about three of the huge homemade raviolis stuffed with meat as they are so filling. I would strongly suggest two people share one entree. Cannot wait to return
Fantastic food and service. Great experience
Service was terrible, our server was not attentive at all and acted as if we were a pain when we asked for recommendations. Our waters were empty for a minimum of 20 minutes. When my date ordered a second glass of wine our server acted as if it was a hassle. When I asked for a scotch listing I was informed they do not offer a scotch list and was given no offerings, simply and rudely asked what kind of scotch I wanted. We also waited 15 minutes to be greeted and when I went to batthroom an employee and I crossed paths, rather than step back or to the side to allow me to pass they rudely motioned for me to move out of their way..I work at a different fine dining establishment and would have gladly spent far more if service was even decent.
Great food, but extremely crowded tables. And, even with a reservation, expect a very long wait.
Terrible service!!!! The waiter was inattentive and distracted! He rushed us through the entire meal. He did NOT even offer us dessert and coffee after the meal! Terrible disappointment due to the fact that we are only in the area once a year and usually look forward to dining at Filomena's.
Unique atmosphere, delicious homemade pasta, very generous portions, fabulous desserts!!
