There's just something special about this dish that makes you long to eat it every so often. Eggplant slices layered with Mozzarella Cheese and our vine Ripened Sunday Tomato Sauce, then oven baked. It is one of Southern Italy's oldest favorites
Tender white rings of Calamari (marinated for 24 hours in milk) lightly dusted and quick fried. Served with Spicy Sunday Sauce
Amazing food , great service , and they even added a candle to my dessert for our anniversary.
Incredible service and amazing food! Look forward to eating there again on our next trip to DC !
Took my daughter here before a show at Kennedy Center and it was one of our Top 10 favorite meals ever. The service is top notch and every bite was better than the last. The oil for the bread was amazing and our dishes were memorable and plentiful. Don't skip dessert! We opted for the cannelloni and I have never tasted anything more delicious. The complimentary amaretto after dinner was cherry on top!
Wonderful food, great service, and a neat atmosphere! We’ve been eating here for 25 years and it’s so consistent and never disappoints!
Just delightful! The food is so unbelievably good, the service is amazing, the atmosphere is wonderful. I loved all the Halloween decorations! Will definitely be back
We always make time to eat every time we are in the area (we are from Chicago). We try to order different entrees each time. No disappointments. The service is awesome, all professional, nice and funny at the same time!
Not impressed with the food. The calamari was not flavored, the risotto was not cooked thoroughly (rice was a bit hard) and on the dry side, ravioli was too sour. If you're looking for traditional ambiance and cooking, I think this is an ok option. But if you are looking for more upscale and improved recipes, I'd recommend trying other restaurants.
Also, the place does not have outdoor seating. The place was crowded. The seats and tables were too close to each other and nowhere near social distancing guidelines. It was too dark too. If you are claustrophobic like me, this is not a place for you.
First, the ambience and decoration is awesome. Hostess seated the group promptly. Waiter was great and perfect attention to detail. Meals were delicious to include desserts and wine selection.
Highly recommend if you are visiting DC/George Town.
Excellent food, excellent service. Portions big enough for leftovers
The food was delicious. Portions are over generous, so we shared. Heavily decorated and cluttered atmosphere, but clean.
Wonderful and delicious!! Lived up to all the accolades!
Dinner was very delicious! We also ordered house Merlot and desserts. We will be back!
Excellent traditional Italian with great personable service.
Last night we saw the Halloween theme decor which was a great compliment to the previous Easter & Christmas themes. Next time Valentine’s !!!
The service and ambience were outstanding. The food was very good, however, quite pricey. I enjoyed my risotto but was it worth the almost $50 I paid for it??? I’ve had comparable risotto for half the price. Their cannoli isn’t the typical presentation - more like two very crisp Florentines with filling sandwiched in between. Good but I prefer a more traditional cannoli. 5 star service but definitely a splurge meal.
This place has soul. This is the statement my waiter said to me, repeated from what a customer told him. I cannot disagree. I was alone- a party of 1, but from the host’s welcoming on, my single reservation was celebrated. I had a great table with a view of the kitchen. Food was superb, service even better. Make sure you put Filomena’s on your list of places to visit.
Amazing food as always, Portions are generous, and service was impeccable.
This team is on it! Even during a packed Columbus Day, they had our table ready on time. This was especially important as we squeezed this in between soccer practice and bedtime for our kids. It is important to celebrate this day with family, and they made it happen. Everyone worked together to ensure glasses were full. One of our children has a dairy allergy. They adjusted the recipe so we could have the sauteed calamari. We were so grateful, especially since they were the most fresh and tender we had in years. The main dishes came out with lightning speed and perfect. I highly recommend the Osso bucco. There was so much food with all of the dishes, but it was most difficult putting the fork down with this one. The meat only needed a fork, but not so overcooked to be stringy. It paired perfectly with the saffron mushroom risotto. It was a really fun evening and the Nonna's dining room vibe was truly felt!
We’ve been visiting Filomena for over 30 years about once a year, or every other. A long relationship. But I hate to say success and popularity seems to have forced the management to add tables, reduce Waite staff, and try to churn a bit faster. The food remains excellent, but service this last time was poor, we were rushed, and our waiter was too busy to bother with an old couple in the back. Sad.
Filomena never fails . Always excellent food, service, and ambiance.
The holiday decorations are always a hit.
I always recommend this restaurant to others.
Filomena never disappoints! Whenever we’re in the D.C. area we try to dine there. Halloween decor was so much fun!
The best part of the dining experience was the service-exceptional
The food was very good and the portions are more than generous. I don’t like calamari but I liked it here. The shrimp pasta, ravioli, anti-pasta were all very tasty and plentiful. The cannelloni I was not very sweet and felt too thick to swallow. That’s where improvement is needed. All in all is was great
Food was amazing!! My only complaint was how loud it was and how crowded the tables were squished together.
Filomena is a fun and popular (if loud) Italian restaurant in Georgetown. You frequently need to make reservations well in advance. The food and service are outstanding but be advised that portions are huge. I strongly recommend splitting entrees with another person unless you want to bring home leftovers.
I love this restaurant. I have been many times. Large portions and great taste. Worthy the visit.
We did not enjoy our dinner. It was very noisy and almost impossible to have a conversation.
The food was very heavy with cream and portions enormous. No vegetables with the chicken Marsala which was two big pieces of chicken with mozzarella on top. Not at all the dinner experience I had envisioned. Un peccato!
Memorable meals as always. Three of us had different dishes and all were fantastic. I have been to Filomena’s 3 or 4 times over the years and it has always been a memorable meal. All the dishes are great. The service is impeccable. The food is a little pricey but worth the experience. For special occasions or if you want outstanding Italian food, this is the place to go!
Excellent service; warm welcome. Unbelievably good food. Def going back!
Service was really good and the restaurant was decorated for Halloween!
food was ok. the ambiance was terrible. quality has gone down
First visit since the pandemic started. As good as ever. If you're a light eater, one main course will suffice for two. The octopus salad is fantastic. We had the lasagna and sausage cannelloni as main courses and the fruit tart for dessert. All were great. You can't go wrong ordering anything on the menu. The staff is composed of PROFESSIONALS. Go!
What a great way to celebrate another year of life!! The staff and the food were outstanding We loved all the wicked decor celebrating Halloween. It’s been 15 years since I’ve been to Washington but the trip would not be complete without a meal T this fine establishment. Thanks for an unforgettable meal..

Best restaurant in DC! Every time I visit DC, I eat here.
Great experience! My children and family loved the restaurant. Excellent service and delicious food.
Great restaurant. But they pack you in. If you don’t mind knowing exactly how much your neighbor is enjoying their meal, everything about Filomena’s is fantastic.
Amazing from start to finish!!
Great service very fun Halloween decor
Portions are huge! Should be shared
great choice for special Italian food- great ambience- while the entrees were all outstanding as was service- the calamari was no better than your average bar food and the Caesar salad was disappointing. 2 blips in any otherwise wonderful meal.
Best meal in an Italian restaurant I ever had. Traditional dishes done with exceptional care. Meatballs and the sauce amazing.
