This place was absolutely amazing from beginning to end! They took our last minute reservation on a very busy night. We got there early and they were able to seat us right away. The waiter and all the service was exceptional. We got our food in perfect timing. We were not rushed and felt at home. The food was second to none. After dinner there were complimentary digestifs of amaretto and sambuca which really were the perfect touch. I really can't say enough about our wonderful experience here and would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Their caesar salad was tasteless, but everything else was fabulous. Some of the best chicken parmesan (lightly batter) & gnocchi ever tasted. Thoughtful service, well paced. An elevator is in the works to bypass the many entrance/exit steps, yes!! Appreciated the restaurant texting me our table was available 45 minutes early.

Absolutely fabulous dinner and dining experience overall. The food was delicious — authentic, flavorful and huge portions. The prices are high, but you get what you pay for. The wine selection is extensive and so is the dessert menu. Couldn’t recommend this place more! The service was quick, friendly and helpful. Will absolutely be back!

Fun touristy place to go to once or twice in your life. The portions are massive, and do not expect fine dining, but rather grandma's cooking. Flavorful and filling! It seems there is a mix of reviews on the rush of service, and our waiter, unfortunately, tried to rush us through our dinner, which we mitigated by ordering mains after we ordered the appetizers. However, the dishes come out SO quickly, that they must be all pre-prepared. Our waiter was very nice, gave us the Sambuca on the house and overall it was an enjoyable evening. Oh - the noise level - almost unbearable. The four of us were all shouting at each other and even then we sometimes couldn't hear everything the other person was saying. DO NOT come here for a romantic intimate evening. But it's definitely an experience!

Dined here last week. Huge portions of good food. Easy to order too much; I recommend sharing. Lunch is probably a better idea than dinner where I understand it can get very crowded. Definitely a must-do when visiting the area.

I have been visiting Filomena for years now. When people ask me why I keep going there I explain that this is the only Italian restaurant in the entire DC, and I have been to many, that you can get mama's style home made meals which never disappoints. The ambience is fantastic, the service exceptional, great wine selection, and finger licking good food. Do yourself a favor and try it out and let me know what you think!

Everything was, as usual, fabulous! The food and the waitstaff were incredible. However, it was a bit on the noisy side, so that it was difficult to hear one another in conversation. We are getting older, so that might also be a contributing factor.

Have been going here for over 30 years. Noted we were dining for an Anniversary - nothing was mentioned or done. They shouldn't bother asking if you're there for a special occasion if they don't plan to recognize it. Tables are EXTREMELY close together (inches apart). As the entire place filled up the noise level was unbearable, particularly all the crying and screaming children. The ambiance of the restaurant, the dress of the staff (all tuxedos) and the prices lead one to expect the experience to be less of a "Diner" on a Sunday afternoon. Took a while for our waiter to greet us, another 20 minutes to get the $200 plus bottle of wine we ordered. Food is usually great but the sauce tasted burnt - which ruins anything they put it on. The arancini was awful since they were obviously fried in oil that had not been changed in some time. For the amount of money you will spend - you could easily find a better place that would provide the experience you expect in return.

We had booked a reservation in advance for when we would be in the city. Our plans changed and got into the city earlier than anticipated so we walked in to see if any chance of getting seated sooner. They were very nice and accommodated us early. All the staff very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious!!!! Starting from the bread which was warm, slight chewy texture on the outside and soft on the inside. The remaining choices we had were excellent as well. Next time we are in the city we will definitely be stopping here for another delicious meal. Highly recommend.

The absolute best Italian food we have ever had. My husband's family is from NYC, and we have eaten at what I thought was the best Italian restaurant up until now. Started with lobster arancini balls that were loaded with lobster. My husband had the ravioli and meatballs. The meatballs were so moist and flavorful. I had a pasta dish in a lobster cream sauce with the biggest chunks of lobster meat throughout. The sauce was so velvety and creamy. We ended the night with cannoli. We will definitely be back!

If you like authentic Italian food, this is your place. We were seated within 5 minuts of our reserved time. It was super-busy, even at our seating time of 10pm. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the lobster and seafood pasta, usually on black ink pasta, but the server suggested I substitute capellini. That was a great suggestion. The super thin noodles sucked up the sauce so nicely. Every bite was amazing. The tiramisu was out of this world - light and flavorful.
