Filomena Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Filomena's is one of a kind. If you're claustrophobic, stay home! It's down in a basement and very tightly packed. We had a reservation for 6:30 on a Sunday night and were seated at 7 after standing like sardines in a packed basement waiting area. The food was beyond plentiful and authentic. Our appetizers were the rice balls and cheese sticks (both have fancier Italian names.) For dinner we had the ravioli alla matrimonia (ravs + meatballs) and seafood linguini which was beautiful, with great mussels and on the spicy side. The meatballs had some herb in them that were almost stick like and not fun to bite, but otherwise the raviolis were dreamy.
A group of 7 friends ate here late Sunday afternoon. We shared appetizers but I think our favorite was the calamari. Everyone loved their meal whether it was the eggplant parmesan, La Familia with the delicious Sunday sauce, or shrimp cannelloni. We enjoyed ourselves and our waiter, Carmelo, was a delight. Very efficient but friendly service.
Cut my lip open and bleeding with their cup which was broken sharp at the edge- of many years of dining out, never yet have i witnessed a restaurant that have a broken glass cup still circulating in service- a eye opener for what’s becoming a poorly managed Georgetown favorite- am a Georgetown resident myself for the past 20 years and out dining once a week. This was a horrible experience- you go to eat and come back with a cut lip
We went to Filomena on the recommendation of a friend who had visited DC. We scoured restaurants and decided to snag the 7:30 reservation. As it was valentines weekend, the entire restaurant was decked out in decorations. This place was amazing. We had prompt service and the food was delicious. The manager stopped by every table and engaged in conversation with the guests. Our dinner and dessert took an hour total, but we were not pressured and could have taken longer if we wanted. Next time we are in DC we will go back to try the Sunday sauce!
We were recommended to Filomenia's by a friend and we had a fabulous experience. After we were seated we were immediately greeted by our waiter "Franco" who was genuinely friendly and professional. His recommendations were spot on. The food was served piping hot and the Sunday Sauce lived up to its reputation .Portions were large so be prepared to eat when you come here. For dessert we had the cheesecake which was light and creamy. Excellent place to dine.
Food was excellent. Service was nothing to write home about. I shouldn't have to flag my waiter down to order a cocktail...shouldn't they be trying to sell me cocktails? Also, one of our side dishes never came out and we had to bring it to his attention. We loved the decanters of liquor at the end. Tables are super close to one another but we had fun neighbors all night so it was fine with us.
First impression was Filomena may be suffering a bit from it's own popularity. The dining room was beautiful but dark and overcrowded. Tables were really close together. You want a table as far inside as possible. Service was excellent. Our orders were taken quickly and without error. Everyone's entree also arrived quickly; a surprise seeing how the restaurant was 100 percent full. Food was excellent! I can't wait to go back during a quieter hour and just have a plate of spaghetti!
Everyone should go here. Lived up to its reputation. The decorations were for Valentine’s Day and very festive. Plenty of wait to staff to take care you of you. Food was fabulous! We had the 20oz veal chop, superb, the seafood pasta, outstanding, and the beef shank tortellini, out of this world. Loved everything he had. Will definitely be back!!
This was our second trip to Filomena's for a special occasion and just like before, it did not disappoint. Words cannot describe how incredible the food was - from the appetizers to the dessert: 5 stars. Not only that, but we went on Valentine's Day and the place was PACKED. Regardless, we had exceptional service with an entire team attending to our needs and every one of them met. My water glass was never empty, we never felt rushed, and the personality/spirit of our waiters was top notch. This is not a cheap restaurant but it is 100% worth every penny.
