Filomena is perfect for the business luncheon or the elegant candle light dinner.
Easter family weekend
My wife and I went here for one of our anniversary dinners while in DC. The atmosphere was wonderful and lively. It was packed but in an extremely inviting way. The bartenders made a great Old Fashioned and my wife had some house wine that was delicious. Even though we were packed in the restaurant like sardines, it wasn’t uncomfortable. It actually reminded me of an old Italian get together with my entire family. The bread was delicious, our entrees were executed phenomenally, and there was no way I was stepping out that door without a dessert. Their cannoli is a non traditional cannoli, but I would absolutely recommend. It was a deconstructed cannoli with 2 layers of flat shell and a pistachio filling that blew me away. It is a little pricey but worth every penny in my opinion. For drinks, 2 (massive) entrees, dessert, and a decent tip we walked out with only a $160 bill. We don’t brush off dinner bills like that often but in this case I had no problem doing it. Would go right back tonight if we didn’t have reservations for another excellent restaurant tonight already. Take my word and go enjoy.
We saw Filomenas on the food network a few years ago and finally got to try it. It is by far, the best Italian we have ever had. Service was really quick. Ambience was terrific, all decorated for Easter. Only disappointment was that we were so stuffed (note after eating only about half of the huge portions) that we couldn't eat dessert.
Charming atmosphere! We were greeted by a woman making homemade pasta in the window display as we arrived. Bustling, fun, city feeling. Easter decorations were everywhere. It was loud but it wasn’t off putting. Instead it reinforced we chose a popular place. Service was awesome. Waiter went above and beyond. Even found me reading glasses since I forgot mine. Food was perfect. If you’re looking for Italian American - little Italy type food- you found it! Sunday sauce so similar to my family’s! Portions are CRAZY HUGE!! Consider sharing an entree, especially if you’re having fun appetizers or salads before hand. Took my daughter for her 13th birthday, and the whole staff and entire restaurant sang and clapped. Plan to visit every time we visit DC.
My favorite Italian restaurant in. D.C. !
This place is the most awesome Italian Restaurant I have been to in the United States. I have been visiting them off and on for over 20 years. When I am in Washington, I always try to go there. The service is always excellent. The food is superb. I have never been disappointed.
I seldom pay attention to decoration, but my wife pointed out that the Easter decorations were very nice.
This is a fine dining restaurant. Expect to spend some time there. An hour and a half is reasonable. Anything less and you are rushing through and won't get the full effect.
Make sure you leave room for dessert. They have an phenomenal bakery. I love their cheesecake.
Food was great and the portions were huge! My husband had a sea food dish that could have easily been split by three hungry adults. I ordered two side dishes and couldn't finish them. The cheesecake was to die for and one slice was more than enough for two people. They also brought complimentary after dinner drinks of sambuca and amaretto. It's very noisy and crowded because it's so popular. So service is a bit slow. But we would go again in a heartbeat.
Authentic old school Italian—- massive menu...enormous portions...superb presentation! Felt like Grandma musta been in the kitchen. And what a room. Decorated in our case for Easter. Can’t imagine a more festive atmosphere.
The place is a bit eclectic. There were doilies one the table
like my grandma’s dresser. The calamari was too salty.
The rice ball didn’t have much flavor. The mixed seafood pasta was
Much more pasta than seafood and mostly mussels. The scallops in the pasta dish was tender and some of the next scallops I’ve ever eaten. The chicken parmigiana was moist and tasty. We also had lasagna and a vegetable dish with risotto that had way too much wine. The service was very good.
So great to be back here after 18 years away from D.C. Every bit as good as I remembered. Delicious!
Outstanding! Ambiance was wonderful. It was a great memory. We will be back!
Our first time at Filomena but not our last. What a wonderful place and the food was delicious. Our server James was great and we loved the after dinner drinks.
We had to wait 30 minutes past our 7 pm reservation to get our table, but everything was outstanding after that!
This place is always amazing. It's a staple in Gerogetown. Definitely recommend.
Food was delicious. EAster decorating was over the top. Borderline creepy
My food was amazingly delicious and the portions were huge
What an awesome place.
Simply the best.
Amazing wait staff & delicious food with large portions! The shrimp risotto was the best risotto I’ve ever had! The sambuca & amaretto at the end was a sweet touch! Seeing someone making fresh gnocchi in the store front was charming and all the bunnies & decor for Easter was top notch!
My friend and I are in town for business and were told we HAVE to go to Filomena, and my goodness was it the best advice! Everything was scrumptious and the service was top notch. Each time we visit DC we will be stopping by! I just wish we had room for dessert!!
I’m sorry. I think you you’ll need a stent after eating this food. High in fat and sugar. The tomato sauce is sweet 🤮
I love going to Filomena. It is like going to my Mother's house for a holiday or Sunday dinner. Very comforting.
This is a go-to restaurant for us at Easter and Christmas. The food is amazing, service tops, and the decorations are over the top.
Great food! Great service! Just a LOT of Easter decor I hasn’t expecting. Overall amazing experience and will recommend to friends in the future visiting!
Amazing as always
Amazing food. Fantastic waitstaff. Wonderful experience overall.
Great food!! A bit loud but very enjoyable
Amazing food and overall experience. Pricey, but we knew that going in. Will be a regular location to celebrate big life events from now on.
Hands down the best Italian food in the DMV area. I'm always blown away with how good it is. Even after having been there so many times
Great service, great food, and very cool decorations!!! We really had a fun night sharing laughs with the people next to us and the wait staff.
I come from out of town often. I make reservations way in advance. For the “Filomena” experience. I have been doing so for over a decade. I plan to be back this coming July and will make my reservation soon.
No other Italian Restaurant compares to Filomena. The staff add their friendliness to the supreme culinary experience, Bravo a thousand times.
Easter decoration overbearing and cheapens the atmosphere
This restaurant came highly recommended by hotel staff at The Darcy. Exceptional food, great waitstaff in a beautiful setting. I can’t say enough about this five star restaurant and certainly would come back next time I’m in the area.
Waiter was ok but not very personable.
Great family meal. I had the lasagna (again) and it is just as delicious every time. The wait staff is usually great but or waiter this time was just ok. Everyone loved their meals - meatballs were great. Save room if you can for desert. Four Leches cake is the best.
Nice restaurant very dark
The restaurant was decorated beautifully for Easter. House wine was delicious as was the bread and oil. The pasta was slightly expensive but worth it because of the huge portion they serve you and it was delicious! I had enough for 3 meals! The service was fabulous, always available if we needed something. The chocolate cake for dessert was unbelievably good. I will definitely be back!
One of my favorite restaurants in DC area. I took a colleague and we both ended up ordering the same thing - Vitello Saltimbocca. Very, very good. We each ordered a different dessert to sample the offerings: cannoli, and mixed berry cheesecake. OMG. The complimentary after dinner drink (amaretto or anisette) is something you will remember, a very nice touch. We could hardly walk out of there.
This was my 6th or 7th visit. I've never gotten anything that I didn't like. Even basic dishes like chicken parm or lasagna, that I've ordered in the past, have been absolutely super. You will make a memory if you eat here.
I travel a lot for work and have had the opportunity to eat in amazing restaurants all over America, but Filomena is far and away my favorite restaurant. It’s a must is you are visiting the DC area.
