Filomena is perfect for the business luncheon or the elegant candle light dinner.
Incredible food. Only downside was the decor for Halloween was not kid friendly.
We came on a recommendation and I’m so glad we did. What an amazing
Hell yes, I would recommend Filomena to my friends and family. Maria was exceptional- I will always come back. Even if it’s just for an appetizer.
The food was well prepared and true to the central-southern Italian cuisine. However, the restaurant was Very Noisy with tables extremely close to each other on a Saturday evening. Trying to have a conversation with my guests was a contest to who could yell louder to overcome the voice of the people at the next table. Not the right ambiance to enjoy food and company. I don't think I will go back and certainly I will not invite people to eat at Filomena.
Impossible to talk with your partner . Loud , loud , loud . The portions are ridiculously super sized . Nothing Italian with this place . The left overs can feed a lot of hungry people.... even for US standards ( super sizing ) gross
Ellen Boorstein’s. 65 th
Literally the best food I have every tasted and the experience in general is worth it!
Great food and service
Favorite place to go when I go to DC. I always take people that have never been there and every time they really enjoy it.
We had such a wonderful time, Peter was just fantastic he made our experience one more time incredible.
Thanks Nico for your excellent service...
Phenomenal place! Love going whenever we visit
An amazing unique place. I loved the pasta "mama" in the front window making pastas. The ambiance is over the top. They are really into holidays and it was if all of Halloween was placed in their restaurant. The server also said they decorate for most holidays. The food like every one else has said - great, but one serving is almost for 4! Service was wonderful.
Halloween decor a little early was off putting. Service was above average but could’ve been better. Food and drink were incredible. They seem to overfill restaurant which leads to high noise levels and some discomfort moving around
What a unique and fun experience! The seasonal decor/decoration is over the top...which maybe too much for some, but the service, food and overall experience was excellent. Portions are huge so take home is a likely outcome. Our waiter Daniel was a true professional. A must if you love classic Italian!
Best pasta ever! Great ambience, amazing food and good service.
Great waiter Peter. Food is too rich, service was way too quick feel like rushing to finish our dinner. The restaurant is very dark.
Very loud - could hear the person across from you. Too much food!
We had a party of 8 and this restaurant in Georgetown did not disappoint. It is charming from the moment you walk in and pass the sweet, smiling lady making fresh pasta in a little room off the stairs. The dessert display is stunning and makes you want to eat less dinner to save room but don't do that because the food is probably the best Italian I have ever had. Our entire group agreed. From the amazing focaccia bread to the pasta entrees the food was just fabulous. We also had an amazing Italian red wine. Service was friendly and prompt. For the record, we all had dessert and it was delicious. Next time I am in the area I will definitely go back to Filomena's.
Beet Italian ever! The service is wonderful. Very personable. We have been coming here for over 25 years and have never been disappointed and not left hungry
I have a friend from out of town who has tried on different occasions to visit Filomenas. When she called that she was coming I immediately knew I had to make reservations and make her dream come true. She was very pleased as I was to enjoy great service, quality of food, and of course overall experience as it is always excellent! I can’t wait to return, and she is already looking for an excuse to visit again! 😆👏🏼
Great food and excellent service definitely lived up to the hype!
Amazing service and food.
Visiting the city
As other reviewers have noted. The portions are huge. We grew up in NY, now live in Seattle and have enjoyed many wonderful Italian restaurants over the years. Filomena ranks up there with the best of them. The strawberry spinach pecan and goat cheese salad was perfectly dressed. The homemade bursts divine. My husband thinks Filomena’s osao buck May be the best he’s ever had. Everything was superb—yes dated decor but that’s part of the charm. Only thing I would change: slightly smaller portions at a lower price point. But heck, getting two delicious meals out of our evening at Filomena’s is a wonderful outcome. Waitstaff were attentive, never intrusive—clearly, professionals. All in all, wonderful spot.
I came here with some family, and this place was highly recommended by a friend. Kudos to her. All 4 of us loved our dinners. Unfortunately, I don’t live in the area so I couldn’t take my scrumptious leftovers. Quite an interesting restaurant inside, wonderful staff and a lovely evening. Recommend this place highly
I love veal and their veal chop pounded to the size of a dinner plate and served as veal parmigiano is some of the best veal I have ever had!
Filomena is one of the best restaurants in DC, and may be the best value. All of the food is unbelievably delicious and while the price tag is high, the portion size is very generous. They also have a great wine list. The waiters are knowledgeable and hospitable. It is pretty dark in the restaurant and tends to be very loud, making it hard to hear the waiter and your companions, but the food is more than worth it. You’ll have leftovers for multiple meals to come.
Wonderful restaurant! The food is fantastic!! Our server was delightful and very helpful. I look forward to going to Filomena’s any time I am in Washington!!
Had Gnocchi , loved it . The place was everything we hoped it would be .worth the drive and price .might go again before our week is over
Everything was delicious and they are very generous with their portions. I would definitely go back.
I found this place by googling”manicotti” and “Washington DC” because this dish is not normally served in American restaurants. They have THREE types of manicotti! It is very popular, and our reservation was at 9. We arrived early, and they took us 20 minutes before 9, so we only waited 20 minutes. Food is wonderful, I had cannelloni with shrimp, my partner the manicotti, and they were excellent. Other things: Osso bucco, fish and veal dishes, and little comments accompanying each meal on the menu. Very noisy and crowded, but the decor (crocheted placemats, servers from Villeroy-Boch, individual lamps at each table) made the ambiance cozy and personal. Moderately expensive, but considering the location in Georgetown, appropriate. Beware! The portions are huge! We were impressed, and would definitely eat here again.
This is the finest Italian restaurant I have dined at. Since I am from the New York City/North Jersey area, I am extremely critical of most Italian restaurants out of that area. Filomena probably exceeds most of the restaurants in the NY metropolitan area, and that is saying a lot! It is an Old World restaurant with gracious service, HUGE portions, and fabulous food- from appetizers through dessert!!
Love the ambiance, and of course the food!! Always brings back so many memories of all the Italian meals I’ve had growing up... best Italian food!!
Very much enjoyed Filomena Ristorante. The tables are very close together, so it is not the most private dining experience, but that being said, they make it quite comfortable, and it doesn't seem they pump the restaurant with loud music, so it wasn't bad at all. The food was outstanding! I concur with other reviewers, the portions are very large. Splitting a meal is very doable, although my husband and I did not do that because we wanted to try more things. The dessert we shared was also outstanding. Beyond the food, the other real star of the experience is the outstanding wait staff. They anticipated our every need without us even realizing they were close by. Great experience all the way around!
This was my second experience at Filomena. My first was lunch during a weekday, and it was very pleasant. But my second was with my son on a Saturday night. The noise level was deafening. While I expect this at many restaurants in Washington, Filomena presents itself as fine Italian dining. Deafening is not what you expect at most of Washington's high-end restaurants. Moreover, my son and I both had more than half of our entree on our plates when various staff began to stop at our table, asking "would you like us to pack that up for you." This was rather startling when you have more than half of your entree on your plate, and are merely engaging in conversation with your son. The entree's here, at least many of them, range in the $30-$40 range. I think we could expect much more in the way of noise level, ambience, and service at that price point.
Our waiter, Fabio, was terrific! He checked on us regularly and was very helpful to one in our party who has a dairy allergy. He was courteous and friendly. We will definitely request his table when we return.
Falta luz en algunas partes del local
Por lo q no se puede leer el menú también falta luz en los baños
This is a special restaurant for our family of three. We go there for each of our Birthday’s. September, December and February. We have been doing it before our Daughter was born 16 years ago. We love the food and have always loved the personal service. Unfortunately Friday September 6, 2018 celebrating our daughter’s 16th we received not of it. Albertp fid not even introduce himself though we have had him numerous times over the years. The food was just as delicious as years prior, just no table cloths on the table, twe would request something and the waiters would not listen and walk away, food was cold when arrived. Huge disappointment fir a $200 meal with only one alcohol drink as I was not feeling well and never asked my husband if he would enjoy another?
If you're in the DC area, this is the place to go for out of this world food!
