Filomena is perfect for the business luncheon or the elegant candle light dinner.
The portion is worth the price, the dishes are very creamy! If you like cheesy, creamy Italian dishes, don’t miss this res!
Filomena never disappoints! I make it a point to come here whenever I’m in DC. The food and service are excellent and we were there during restaurant week so got a price fixed menu for $35. A bargain!! I can’t recommend a visit to Filomena enough!!
A culinary delight! The dishes were delicious, ambiance was a spectacular feast for the sense, and our waiter Vito was very attentive. Thank you for providing such an amazing gastronomic experience.
Too dark an environment. Food quantity too much. Food quality too little for cost. The best thing about the meal was the service of Maria. The food was a great disappointment to both me and my guest.
Went here for a family dinner. Food is delicious but the plates are extremely big, everyone in my table ate half or less than half of the plates.
Place can be found noisy. For peak hours like 8pm, make reservations at least 2 days in advance.
This is my favorite restaurant never disappointed.
I always have a beautiful experience here! The food is consistently delicious no matter what I order, and the service is flawless!
Excellent, as always!
From the ambience, to the service, to the food, everything was amazing. I have heard great things about Filomena’s over the years and I am happy to say that it exceeded expectations.
The best restaurant in DC, not to be missed! Huge portions and exceptional taste. LOVED IT!
Always my favorite place to go for occasions! I went for restaurant week this time and it was such a good deal with huge portions and amazing food as always! Can’t wait for my next visit.
So the look was deceiving. You walk in and you thinks it’s a little restaurant but little did we know that it is a huge dining room downstairs. We went for restaurant week and let me tell you it was worth it. Usually for restaurant week they give you a smaller portion of what the actual serving size really is. But not Filomena, this place gave us a full serving and it was AMAZING!! They give you enough food for 2 days. Overall I left a happy camper.
Filomena is an amazing restaurant, perfect for celebrating special occasions. Everything there is delicious.
I dined with coworkers during restaurant week. The food was FANTASTIC and the portions were worth every penny. I was able to bring home my leftovers and have a whole second meal for dinner the next night.
Unfortunately, the service was a little lack luster this evening. We made reservations for 7pm, but were not seated until close to 7:30. we then did not get drinks until 8pm and our first course at 8:30pm. When making reservations for 7pm, I expected to be eating a little earlier.
Then, we were asked if we could take our desserts to go, I am guessing to free up the table faster for some other patrons. I was disappointed by this request because we paid to eat the whole meal and planned to do so, especially after being seated 30 minutes later than expected. We politely declined their request to leave and ate our dessert in the restaurant.
After dessert, we asked for a our check and did not receive it for 25 minutes, which was a little disappointing as we had already been fairly delayed and ready to get out of there. After 3 hours in the restaurant, 1 hour of which was spent waiting before and after the meal, we finally were able to get our of there.
It might have just been a fluke situation because of the busyness of restaurant week, but I was a little disappointed by the experience.
Another outstanding meal at Filomena’s restaurant.
I enjoyed Introducing two of my colleagues to this wonderful restaurant.
It is now listed among some of their favorite restaurants as well as mine.
We happen to be there on restaurant week this August and we’re very pleased that the restaurant week menu serve the same size portions as their normal menu.
It was an outstanding value.
This is an outstanding restaurant for all occasions!
Maybe because it was during the Restaurant Week, the place was too noisy and therefore service suffered.
Also, main dish portions were too huge, almost to the point of being repulsive
It was good and delicious!! I have been loving this place for over 8 years.
Restaurant week selections were excellent and very good value.
Everything was great. It was like having my Italian grandma serve me dinner.
We love Filominas and try to come when we are in town. I was here for a conference and brought my colleague and he loved it too. I ordered the from the restaurant week menu: started with a slice of delicious wheat bread with the dipping sauce. I could have eaten the whole basket, but refrained and only had the 1 piece. Next I had the caprese salad, delicious. Just needed a little more fresh basil and balsamic vinegar. I'm sure they would have brought it if I asked. I didnt ask how my colleagues caesar salad was. My entree was the lasagna. A huge piece that I could not finish. I wish I had a microwave in my hotel! The sause was thick and rich. My colleague had the lobster fettuccini (not the restaurant week menu) that I usually get. It was creamy, fillnof chunks of lobster and the portion size alowed for hi. To take leftovers back. He was going to eat it cold it was that good. My meal came with the oreo dessert that we shared. So light and delicious, but amazingly to big a piece for us to finish. The wine list is excellent and the complimentary aperitif at the ends was a nice touch. The only negatives are how loud it is and they pack you in like sardines. It is a bit pricey, but worth it.
Portion sizes were very generous. The kind of comfort Italian food you’re always looking for. Great and prompt service.
We were celebrating our Anniversary. Too much food
Delicious meal, attentive service, and an overall great first visit. Favio took excellent care of us and made us feel special! Thank you!
Go there when I need to have the best Italian food, service, and ambiance.
It was my first time visiting Filomena for lunch with my friend, we both had a great experience. The staff were very friendly, the food and dessert were delicious!!!
Absolutely the BEST LASAGNA ever! My husband enjoyed his shrimp canelloni dish in lobster sauce, too. The sauces are delicious! It was our first visit, but won't be our last!
Went for their August special. The food was amazing, but my partner and I received extremely slow service. It turned into a two hour lunch. They would bring the olive oil and basil but no bread, offer everyone in the restaurant freshly grated cheese but us, etc. I was brought the wrong meal, and when I said something they did exchange it but never even bothered to apologize for the mixup. I’ve been here for dinner before, and it was always excellent service, so maybe this is an issue with not having enough servers on during lunch. It will definitely make me think twice before booking again though.
It was very nice
sososo good pasta！love the shrimp pasta
Noise level and close proximity to other dining really made the experience less than desirable. Food and service was wonderful. Could nearest hear my daughter seated across the table but thoroughly enjoyed the conversation of the couple next to us!
I have been coming here since I was a kid and the food is still just as amazing as it was 20 years ago. Every dish is full of flavor and the staff is wonderful.
Wonderful authentic Italian food and experience we ordered several dishes all were A+. Loved the lady making homemade pasta at the entrance!
It was my 2nd time in a week and probably 10 times in the last 2 years. Regardless - consistency at it's best for sure.... Unfortunately I'm not able to score a reservation for Restaurant week. My bad for not booking in advance!
This restaurant had been highly recommended to us, so wanted to make sure we visited during our overnight to DC. We did go for a late lunch...was just surprised how we had to walk down into a basement, and it was dark and crowded...felt a little sad that I chose this on a beautiful late summer day with so many options. However, a wonderful salad bar came with our meal and had huge portions-which were delicious but very rich...the "Sunday Sauce" in most choices looks delicious, but is sauteed with beef bones (and I haven't eaten beef in 30 years, so didn't want to choose any meals that possibly had this, so I chose the Seafood Canolli-so yummy-but the lobster rosa sauce just too rich for my belly.
Excellent as always! Everything on the menu is excellent! This is a can’t miss spot.
Fun spot and kind of a crazy scene. Food is good and pastas are home made. Very loud. We were there for a 9pm reservation. For anyone from Boston, in terms of the energy and décor, in a weird way it struck us as an Italian version of the Kowloon.
Literally the best lasagna I’ve ever had! I’d make it a point to go back if I’m in DC again! Amazing service & food!!
The food is always AMAZING! Definitely not the type of food I can eat every day, but when you are ready to the ultimate cheat day, this is your spot!
The service was incredible, the atmosphere was nice, and the history of the restaurant was very interesting. I loved the bread and liqueur/coffee bean tradition, but the entree (manicotti) didn’t blow me away. I liked it, but didn’t love it.
