We have been there twice. I would label it "fine Italian dining". The food is so good and the portions are very generous! We had the same waiter, an older Italian gentleman, Gerado, who made us feel like family with a pleasant chat with his accent to get to know each other. The walls are covered with memorabilia photos of the place from the past. I noticed the restrooms were very clean and neat. The ambience gives gives you this feeling like you are walking into a scene from the movie "The Godfather'. A good place to take someone from out of town for that old world Italian dining experience. "This is North End dining at it's best."
We had a wonderful time last evening at Dinner. You made our 30 year reunion very special. Thank yo so much.
Dined prior to a hockey game. Was engaged in a good conversation with Lulu.
Food was excellent and the atmosphere was really nice. Not a place to go all decked out but a great casual meal.
Quite expansive for what it is. Greasy food, not what I had in mind for a typical italian place. We were a group of 9 guys getting there after a Bruins game and the service was fast, though. Average experience.
Filippo accommodated our large group and delivered in a big way. The meal was absolutely incredible and every single one of us walked away raving about the food we'd just had. Can't wait to go back!
Really delicious, authentic Italian for a great price. Love Lulu the Waitress. Can't wait to go back!
Food was excellent and service very friendly. I loved the ambiance of the placed; great vibes!
The restaurant & service was excellent. We were meeting friends for an upcoming trip to Italy & Gerardo madce us feel like we were in Italy & already there!! It was a truly awesome experience & send off to our upcoming trip!!
Always choose Fillipo before Bruins games... great food, quick and friendly service, veal parm and pasta fagiole are personal favorites... great people with very reasonable menu ... you won’t be disappointed
LuLu is the BEST---we specifically come in to have her wait on us. Food is delicious too!
Geraldo (sp?) was our waiter. He has been here for 30 years or so...and was fantastic.
Fantastic traditional Italian food, friendly and caring service like in Italy, and great value all the time (always leave with a goodie bag). A family favorite!
We sat for 10 minutes before being waited on. After placing our drink order, we waited another 15 minutes to order food. We ordered a starter and an entrée. We finished our drinks and waited another 30 minutes at which point another server brought us a basket of bread. The couple dining next to us, who had arrived after us and who were eating their entrées, graciously offered their bottle of olive oil to us for our bread. When the food came, it came all at once. The bruschetta was barely edible--grilled bread topped with a spoonful of not very appetizing or flavorful tomatoes and mozzarella, both of which were diced smaller than pencil erasers. The veal saltimbocca was ok--light on the veal, heavy on the cheese. We will not be returning.
Grabbed a quick meal here before the Bruins Game. Food was great, service was great and we were in and out.
Lulu is great!
The decoration is overwhelming. So much to look at and admire. A neighbor gem. Food was delicious. Ask for the house salad dressing, it's simply delicious.
Great food! It was quiet when we went, and we were a large group coming from the TD Garden. We were seated immediately. Cozy, authentic Italian cuisine. Super friendly service, with a little bit of spunk, which I like! Only negative for me was that the bathrooms smelled so strongly of bleach that it made my eyes burn and I had a coughing fit upon returning to my table.
Great food great service
We live in the north end and never tried Filippo until last night. Our server lulu was super sweet did not rush us, gave us suggestions on the items we were between. Entrees were delicious and plentiful. Atmosphere was very inviting.
The food was excellent. Very large portions so it is good for splitting.
Excellent food and service. Very authentic Italian cuisine with old-world style tomato sauce and the gnocchi were like pillows from heaven! Best cannoli I’ve ever had.
The atmosphere was great the food was awesome great service next going to my wife there everything was perfect
AS always Filippos never dissapoints us in any aspect of the night. It's always a treat to stop in. It's always a treat to have LuLu as our waitress.
Jerry was amazing and a very kind host. He made us all feel like family and brought selections of things to try!
Disappointing. The wrong entrees were brought out twice. We ended up settling for for what was brought out since we were running out of time. Two out of four orders were correct. Food wasn’t hot. And then the bill charged us for sides that the waiter told us was included in the meal. We questioned him and he said it was for the sides. In the end we had to get to a Celtics game. Have had great experiences in the past but not sure if I’ll give them another try. The restaurant wasn’t packed but the waiter kept saying there were problems in the kitchen.
Great food and service. Went before a Bruins game, perfect. Had the chicken saltambucca, was excellent!
Very good food and service on perimeter of the North End. Convenient spot to get to an event at the TD Garden after dinner.
We were seated on time.Wait staff was helpful and friendly.Food was excellent as always.I would avoid it on game nights at the Garden, unless you like a crowd.White tablecloth but not at all stuffy.Oneof my favorites.Try the chicken Zingerella.Boneless chicken breasts stuffed with precuitto ham and fontina cheese with a light orange liqueur sauce.
Our waitress Lulu was a gem. The real deal. Treated us well, attentive, friendly, but not too much. Felt like family when we left.
Great food and service from waitress - LULU. All my guests raved about their meals.
We love Bes our waiter. Everyone at this restaurant makes us feel welcomed. We recommend this restaurant to all of our friends.
Came for dinner on a Sunday night after purchasing a Groupon for a $35 dinner voucher. Since it was a Sunday night, we were the only customers dining, but the quiet dining experience was nice. Our waiter, Gerry, was very kind and made us feel welcome and special. The food was great, and we were treated with cookies at the end!
Attended Filippo's before a Celtics game. Nice hearty fare and a nice wine to complement the meal. Very quick service - on the front end. We did languish after entrees were served. Great atmosphere and convenient to the Boston Garden. There are more adventurous choices in the North End, but this was a more than adequate spot to grab a pregame meal.
Delicious authentic food. Generous portions perfectly prepared. Terrific service. Convenient location.
Excellent for pre-Celtics dinner as usual. They get the food to you without a loss of quality.
We went to Filippo to celebrate my husbands birthday. Lucky for us it was mid week - and no sporting events in town! It was quiet and we got the full attention of our wonderful server Jerry ! He made food and wine selections for us that were excellent, he was very attentive and VERY entertaining ! We all had a lot of laughs, a great meal and fun night!
We highly recommend the fried calamari, Mussels Mare e Monti, Scampi Francavillese, Pollo Lucia...
Too full for dessert but Jerry gave us Italian cookies!!!
Bes is the best—always remembers our drinks and dinner choices. We enjoy this restaurant a lot because everyone treats us as if we are family.
The food and service were excellent as usual. We always go here when we go to the Celtics and are never disappointed. LuLu is a great waitress. Remembers everyone.
Great meal and service pre Celtics game.
