We had a lovely meal, great wine, fantastic service and a complimentary birthday surprise. Thank you so much... we will be back!
Was disappointed in taste of food....just average. Found on Tripadvisor...had a special weekend with my husband and we thought we would try to Brunch before leaving town. Our waiter ....Michael was good...but food didn't ...WOW.....us. Would not recommend or be back....sorry!!
Out neighborhood go to restaurant. Great service. Good food and pleasant atmosphere. Outdoor dining is fun. Inside is noisy unless the restaurant is I filled.
Food quality has gone down a bit. Space needs acoustic treatment.
Great food!! Would be my east loop go to!!
Overzealous bussers kept taking plates and silverware while people were still eating. If we were in a packed restaurant- I’d understand the need for turnover, but the place was pretty empty.
We were staying at the Radisson with out of town guests. We have two young children and our friends had a newborn baby. We dined early. 6 pm. The restaurant was fairly empty at this time. The restaurant was very nice, good ambiance, not what I would consider a family place, but it was in the hotel we were staying. All of the service was very good, attentive and patient with the young children. They had a childrens menu too. The cheese and meat plate was nice as were our other appetizers. I had the gnocchi for my main dish and my husband had the scallops. I would say the main dishes were good, but not the best part of the meal.
Our food was very good. Our server was great. A great restaurant to have available when staying at the hotel.
Our family of four went for Christmas dinner. The only option for ordering was the 4-course special menu, and not the regular a la carte menu, as touted would also be available online. Our college-aged kids thought the meal was good, but would have preferred regular options. At $65 per head, the portions were truly tiny - especially the entrees. While good quality, there was just so little. We didn’t expect a gluttonous portion, but 4 bites of duck was hardly enough to call a meal.
The pancakes at the buffet station was hard as a rocket, apparently from being there too long.
Great restaurant for relaxing, reasonably priced dinner downtown. Friendly service, relaxing atmosphere. Great cheese-salami platter, grilled octopus. Nice wine selection.
This is the 4th year my friends and I have gathered at this venue to exchange Christmas presents. We make a meal out of several appetizers and wine. The service is great and they tolerate our unwrapping gifts. We will be back.
Pasta sauce was too salty. Pork chop not well seasoned, too fatty.
Food was excellent and the staff was very accommodating! My Team and I will definitely be coming back!
We enjoyed the experience overall...the restaurant was lovely and the service was superb. The mussels app was okay but quite fishy tasting and smelling, and we love mussels normally. I had the Cornish game hem and the hen was delicious but the squash side was not very tasty and the broccolini was pretty good but overly oily. My husband had the halibut and thought it was way overcooked. The panna cotta dessert was nummy...tough call but probably won’t go back. Sorry.
We came here prior to a dance performance at the Harris. It was a beautiful dining room with great city street views. Vibrant bar on level one. Great food with just The right amount of spices. Would highly recommend the octopus appetizer. The menu could have used a few additional entrées and vegetable options. Service was friendly and efficient. Will come back.
The carbonara ($18) was so small that it could have been a stingy appetizer instead of the main course it was advertised to be.
Although the food had flavor, it was not worth the price that was charged.
Excellent Italian wines available by the glass. An upscale dining venue located in attractive contemporary architectural landmark. Enjoyable!
We shared a salad and spaghetti with meatballs. The salad was pretty good but the meatballs tasted strange. I had $13 glass of wine and it was quite good.
From the start everything was perfect. We were greeted by a lovely young woman, our waiter Yosef was attentive and helpful. We ordered the house salad, which was tasty, I had ham and cheese pizza and my husband had salmon. Every morsel was good!
Food was spectacular, service was great...A bit pricey, but worth it
Had gone once previously. It was excellent
Went again 18 months later. Opposite experience. Food blah at best. Service unexceptional.
Won't go back
Our meal was excellent. My pork chop was amazing and the sauce on the asparagus was to die for.
We have enjoyed Filinis for several years, and this was our first time in 2017. The menu seemed less interesting with fewer choices + higher prices. The dining room was empty and quiet on a Tuesday night, though the bar downstairs was quite loud. The service was good, the food was good, the decor is still a bit cold.
Overall quality of the food for brunch has gone down hill over the last few years. It had been some time since I visited Filini, but I decided to go back since I live within a block of the restaurant. Was very disappointed by the service and less than impressed by the food that came out to our table. I had enjoyed the omelet during previous visits and decided to order it again, but asked that there they not include green peppers due to an allergy at the table. The menu states that the omelet is served with bell peppers, but doesn't clarify the color, so I just wanted to be sure no green peppers were served and said any other color would be fine. My omelet arrived with only green peppers and of course I had to send it back. Once the new omelet arrived with red peppers, I realized the food was no longer of the quality in recent years. Adding to this error, I was charged for "adding items" to my omelet since I requested any peppers that weren't green peppers, even though the menu only clarifies bell peppers. The service was embarrassing and as convenient as it is to drop by Filini for breakfast/brunch/dinner, I won't be returning. There are plenty of restaurants in Chicago worth the longer walk.
Quite, elegant restaurant. Interesting menu. Great appetizer choices. Entree we had were excellent. Overall, excellent experience!
The wait staff were particularly helpful and attentive. The food was excellent and a good value.
This was a very disappointing visit. We will not return. The restaurant was empty except for one other small party, so air conditioning was not adjusted to accommodate the paucity of body heat. Portions were very small. I ordered the salmon ($34). The portion was fairly reasonably sized, but it was raw in the middle and did not come with a sliver of lemon, even though there was no sauce of other flavoring to the fish. The plate was garnished with a few roe eggs and maybe 2 stalks of slivered asparagus. Not at all worth the price. It was cold when brought to the table. My friend (we were supposed to be celebrating her birthday), ordered what we thought was a pasta dish (cavatappi), but this was definitely not little squiggles of pasta. Instead there were hard green nuggets. That also was cold when brought to the table. I asked for green tea and was brought Earl Grey, already brewed. The waiter was aware that we were unhappy, but none of the problems were his fault and there really was not much he could do about the situation. We were on a tight, but reasonable schedule, so there was not time to wait for re-heating the salmon, re-cook the very hard pasta nuggets, or change the tea. We debated about dessert, but decided to buy one because it was, after all, a birthday. We each ordered a semi-freddo. It was the only good part of the dinner. Ordering 1 pasta dish, one secondi, 2 desserts and tea came to $85. Insanely expensive for the small, poorly prepared portions. We will not return.
Short menu but great food in a beautiful setting with excellent service.
Fettuccine pasta is crazy. Huge portion and sOoooooooo good! The place is nice too, would come here again
Way over priced. Snobby server like we're in a gold star restaurant. I think they buy their meatballs at the store around the corner and then re sell them at a cost 4 times what they cost at Mariano's grocery. Very disappointed to have tiny portions of spaghetti and a 200.00 dinner bill for 2 adults and 2 small children. Find your dinner elsewhere. Will never spend a penny of our money there again.
I've written this before - there is a "Sour milk" odor that is constant in this place. There were 2 other tables in the entire place being served. The seating at the bar and high tops are horrible to sit in... Frankly, I'm not sure how the place is still open. I only went there because a client recommended we meet there and it was only then that I realized where I was going. The name is permanently branded in my mind - NEVER again!
Great food and friendly service but SO SLOW. Restaurant was practically empty but we were there almost three hours for dinner and I had a similar experience when I had breakfast there later in the week.
Management appeared to not have staffed the restaurant accordingly for the mother's day brunch as we, and other tables, were waiting for quite long periods for basic things such as: water, coffee, drinks, etc. Food arrived on time, but was a bit cold.
New chef is doing a great job. Sampled a few things and enjoyed all. I can always get a table here, I think because of the location it's perhaps not the first place everyone thinks of when they're contemplating options on Michigan Ave. Worth going a block east, however. Great atmosphere. I always ask for a table in Youssef's section, he's wonderful.
Food was not warm, fresh or tasty
Excellent meal, excellent service.
I had been to this restaurant once before and really enjoyed it, but this experience was completely different. The room is so beautiful and cool, and based on my last experience I couldnt understand why people weren't flocking there. Unfortunately I got my answer. Our server was terrible. Did not discuss the menu with us. Brought out our cheese and meat plate without explaining what was what. Brought our salads with our entrees. The pasta was overcooked and flavorless-a crime at an Italian restaurant charging these prices. Never again.
