FIG Ratings and Reviews
From the moment we entered Fig, our appetites were enticed by the warm Mediterranean spices which fragranced the air. Our waiter, Raul offered great suggestions for both food and wine and had a warm, gregarious personality. We enjoyed the clams with pepper lime relish, kissed with ginger and garlic in a flavorful broth and shishito peppers to start and the wood grilled dourade with a flavorful and bright ginger mignonette as well as the flavorful New York strip steak for our entrees. This restaurant was very lively and crowded, so make sure you get a reservation so you can enjoy this gem of a restaurant!
I took a friend for her 50th birthday. It was a wonderful lunch date. Our server was attentive and good humored. My friend had a berry cocktail and I had a greyhound. They were very "effective" drinks! My friend had the turkey burger with the salt and pepper fries and I had the chicken shawarma with salt and pepper fries. Absolutely tasty! The chicken shawarma was not heavy. . . very light with pickled beets inside. We finished lunch with the salted fudge squares and almond pistachio ice cream. The atmosphere was wonderful . . . just perfect for lunch. We could laugh and talk comfortably plus the tables by the window lookout to the Fairmont's beautiful pool garden.
Met friends there we hadn't seen for several years. Service was wonderful. Hostess, servers
were especially kind and thoughtful as there were some very old ones and some young ones
in our group. One of us forgot something in our car and a very kind "runner" went back to our
car and retrieved the missing letter. Food was delicious and where changes or adjustments needed to be made to a dish, the waiter was very accommodating. We will definately return.
This was a restaurant in our neighborhood we went to often, especially for the early 5:00 to 6:00 early bird. Some items on the menu are 50% off. We stopped going thru the summer because being at the Miramar Hotel it was packed. We loved that parking was $5.50 if you ate at the Fig. Well I’m not sure if the 3 choices for 50% off changed chefs but I ordered the chicken and it had no taste. It was served on a can of garbanzo’s with two pieces of what tasted like canned string beans with I’m not sure if they were green onions or lemon grass that were hard and not cooked. Did not send it back but didn’t even reheat it when I got home. My husbands pasta with lamb was just okay. Now the tomato appetizer, the radishes were watery and the tomato’s were good. You would think the little bit of Feta was an endangered species. We had a good bottle of wine which was half off. The desert menu needs a better choice. $12.00 and nothing special and I’ve tried them all. The wait staff is friendly and I probably won’t see them for a while.
Fig never disappoints. The fromagerie is awesome - the menu is can please most. the service and staff are excellent. It can be a bit noisy, I wish they could find a way to deal with that. Also you can have people stacked on top of you as the seating options can leave you in an undesirable location.
We just had the best experience and loved everything! The wait staff and hostess were phenomenal. I accidentally made reservations for the wrong day and they helped us find a reservation at another restaurant. We went back to Fig for our reservation the next night. It was worth the wait. We are traveling with a 7.5 yr old so randomly lucked into the best happy hour ever. Drinks and food were outstanding and fresh!
Thanksgiving dinner was awful. The portions were so strange. Our party of three was given the same amount of food as the party of four next to us. Dessert was two individually portioned desserts meant to split among four. Almost every dish was just dry, even the salads. For the price, I expected a lot more, especially from this restaurant.
I was disappointed. The food was not as delicious as it had been when I was there earlier in the year; the crust of the pizza was undercooked, and the beets were bland, in great need of salt, pepper, and other seasoning. The lunch was to celebrate the 90th birthday of my companion, and there was nothing special for dessert--two kinds of cookies and gelato--each $8.00: rather steep for these three choices--so we went elsewhere for a delicious pastry.
We arrived early at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel Fig in Santa Monica, before our reservation for brunch, but the host sat us anyway and let us get off our feet before brunch technically started.
Our server, Gary, was very professional and accommodating, he was on top of anything we requested and quite present. The food was excellent, my wife is vegan and Fig did a great job satisfying her needs. The pricing was quite surprising as to how affordable it was. We paid about half of what we expected. Great job everyone, and especially Gary!
Love the food. Service was great...until our bill came. I was charged mandatory 18% for adding my 7 yr old boy as the 7th person making it a large party. The 18% was computed on the original regular menu price! ."Not on the happy hour prices we dined on! How unfair was that!
The staff at Fig were very accommodating and had seated us in a quiet area as I requested for my birthday. Hugh our server was lovely. Very happy friendly staff. We will be back sooner than a Birthday. Fabulous food. You can’t go wrong here!!!
We were so full from dinner that I insisted that we not order dessert but Hugh brought out chocolate chip cookies and a candle to celebrate my birthday.
Thoughtful and nice way to end our evening.
I was in LA visiting family and decided to head to Santa Monica for a day. Wanted a nice place to eat off the pier, but still casual enough to wear casual beach-wear. FIG was the perfect solution! The food was delicious, seasonal, and fresh (they source their produce from a local farmer's market) and every dish that came out was better than the last. We were greeted by the manager as soon as we sat down and she made us feel so welcome and special.
My only reason for not giving them 5 stars across the board was the slow service. After the manager greeted us, it took our server 10-15 minutes to take our drink order. Another 30 minutes to get our drinks, then another 30 minutes until he took our dinner order. Never checked on us after our food was received and forgot to put our drinks on our tab. Instead of comping us for his mistake, he went back and charged the card again. He may have been having a bad night, though, as the rest of the staff seemed much more engaging with their tables.
