About Fiddlers Green Restaurant
Fiddlers Green is a seafood and steak eatery located in San Diego, California. The nautical theme runs deep in this small seafood restaurant situated on a dock. Model sailboats, life preservers, and ropes decorate the walls while similar imagery adorns the doors and menu. Speaking of the menu, guests will be pleased to find everything one would expect from a classic portside restaurant.
At the top of the menu, there is plenty of steak and other meats for red meat aficionados. Prime sirloin, filet mignons, rib eyes, and a rack of lamb are just some of the options available for those more in the mood for turf than surf. Below that, are the Fiddlers Green signature seafood options such as jumbo coconut shrimp, Alaskan king crab, and fresh grilled ahi tuna.

Fiddlers Green Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Tried this out for the first time. Surprised to see there was entertainment-a guy singing and playing a keyboard. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. My teriyaki steak was pretty good, prepared just right. The restaurant had an 70/80's diner feel to it. It was a pleasant place to dine.
This was our first time trying this restaurant. It took 20 minutes after the two of us were seated for someone to come over and brought only one water and acknowledge we were even in the restaurant. About 10 minutes later we received the other glass of water. We both ordered a wedge salad. One was made as a wedge the other was a garden salad. They took that back and after awhile, we got the other wedge salad. My wife ordered the kabob and asked for the meat to be cooked medium rare. She could hardly chew the meat it was so dry. I tried a piece and agreed, it was way over cooked. The vegetables on the skewer were shriveled. The food was lukewarm - definitely not "right out of the oven" temperature. I would not recommend this place. My wife and I were celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary. I had made this known when I made our reservation. No mention of this occasion. You do get a nice full dinner for the price, but again, the food was not very warm when served and the quality was not what we would expect.
Great place to get some casual food and casual atmosphere. Fun decor and nautical theme throughout. The owner is a great local guy who is very attentive and on top of things. Waitresses are very friendly and helpful. Good last minute place to go for couples or families.
Wonderful spot for dinner. Great food and atmosphere. We're lucky enough to be there on a night their piano player, Tommy Stark, was there. He added such a great soundtrack to a fun, laid back meal. We aren't from the area but when we return to Shelter Island, we will definitely come back here!
Food, drinks, service, warmth and ambiance all top of line here. Boat owner or not - Steve will make anyone feel as if you were welcomed in by a good neighbor. Parking is hit or miss and you may need to take an extra spin around the block but well worth it. Looking forward to ( many) future visits.
We both had the prime rib with garlic mashed potatos veggies and a caesar salad and it was awesome. We sat at the bar - comfortable seats. On our way out asked the owner if they had mexican scallops and he told us to call in advance and Tommy Gomes , over at Catalina Offshore would make it happen. Since we are Tommy and Catalina fans- we were thrilled and will be back!
Evening began with cordial service at bar from Daniel N. and continued throughout dinner with Mary W.'s assistance - our dinner companions from Big Bear area very impressed with menu - appetizers great (chips a sensation!) and meals of seafood choices and rib eye excellent . Thank you for making "reunion" event a happy success.
This place is a class act. It's truly a neighborhood restaurant , where the owner comes over and has a chat - uncommon anymore, but one of many touches that sets Fiddlers apart. Come in your shorts after a day of sailing and have a burger, or come in your suit after work and enjoy a top notch ribeye. There are a few chain brands nearby - don't be tempted, Fiddlers is better.
Live music (appropriate for dining) and awesome décor.
We needed a place to handle our party of 9 and they did an excellent job. I enjoyed the quirky maritine decor. The location is a little off the beaten path, although it is on the road to Shelter Island. We had no problem, but parking could be an issue.
Everyone at the table seemed to enjoy their meals (from seafood to prime rib). Our server was excellent and attentive.
Appreciating all the choices San Diego has to offer, we were very satisfied.
Incidentally, we were told that 50+ years ago this was the original Chart House.
After watching the Parade of Lights on Shelter Island, it is just a short walk to Fiddler's Green. We had a table in a corner and we were able to have a wonderful conversation. Everyone loved their dinner. We had the fish specials and our friends had the fish and chips. We share a bottle of wine that was reasonably priced.
Fiddler's Green is not trendy, hip or happening. It is a friendly place with loyal clientele. The food quality is excellent for the price. The wine list is short but excellent, with a much lower markup than most other restaurants in town.
The owner has personally been there every time we have eaten there and he actively works the dining room checking on quality.
This is one of our favorite locals only spots. I think the prime rib is divine and I love the huge baked potatoes.
Starting out on a positive, the food is excellent and reasonably priced. We have eaten there twice now and the food was even better the second time. The reason we went back is that we wanted to see if the "heat" we felt would still be the same. There is no AC at the restaurant, they have carpet fans blowing but if your not near one of those fans it can feel hot, especially when your main course comes. I asked would I go there again, the answer would be yes, the food is that good. Just dress accordingly,
First of all the elevator was shut off so we had to carry the stroller up the stairs. Then the service was SLOW. Then the food was terrible. This place is aged and clearly management has just let it go from the decor to the kitchen. I was beyond disappointed. I was there is family from out of town and wanted to take them somewhere nice to impress them with San Diego and they left with a bad taste in their mouth. They won't be back to San Diego and I won't be back to Fiddlers Green. The host staff was the only positive in the experience. They were sweet and accommodating. I almost feel bad that they work at such a sad excuse for a restaurant.
My wife and i were celebrating our forty year anniversary. WE had been to Fiddlers green many time in the past when it was formerly Chart House. We had our first date at this establishment. e wanted to relive the memory. The food was great, service fantastic and our experience was wonderful. The owner himself took a special interest in our visit after telling him of our long standing relationship with his restaurant. I highly recommend everyone give a try.
We were in San Diego on vacation and got back late from a trip. Trying to find a place was a bit difficult and we ended up at Fiddler's Green. Even though we were obviously the last diners in the place, the service was unhurried and the food was excellent. The Prime Rib was particularly wonderful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to those around Shelter Island.
