Ferris Steakhouse & Tavern Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I had reservations at Ferris for our 32 Wedding Anniversary. We had a wonderful time there. The steaks were great, cooked perfectly and our waitress provided us with excellent service throughout the evening. We will definitely return as it now is our one our favorite places to spend a quiet evening with great food.
We celebrated our anniversary and had a great time. The steaks were terrific as always. We were there on a Saturday evening and the piano music was a nice touch. Very nice atmosphere -- upscale but not stuffy. We have not yet sat at the bar for drinks and apps but plan to do so in the future. One of our favorite west side restaurants.
Not impressed, the food needs help especially for the price. It has changed over time, once great place. With a change in the food prep it could be good again. Seems like they want to be a sports bar now. May be great for the younger crowd but my age group is looking for great dinning to impress friends with great food.
Expensive for what you get. Wait staff brought wrong drink, white rum instead of dark, balsamic instead or red wine. Plates were ungarnished, baked potatoes looked unwashed. Went for a birthday- nothing special was offered. For what you pay, could have been a lot better.
The steak was cooked badly.. We asked how they cooked it and it was cooked in a frying pan and then in the oven.. I don't minds spending $30.00 on a steak if it is cooked well. Why is it not grilled? It would be so much better. I would think for a steak place it would have good steaks.. I had some appetizers which were good. Sliders were good and the flatbread was ok.. (happy hour prices for appetizers were pretty good.. :But I will never order a steak there again if I return to the establishment. Sorry for the not so good review but I was really disappointed after spending 65.00 dollars for two dinners
Fantastic atmosphere! Fabulous selection on the menu from chicken to fish to steaks. Handcrafted cocktails and the service was EXCEPTIONAL! We would recommend this for a date night, girls or guys night out or company event. They even had someone playing the piano! Very romantic! We will be back!
I have dined at several fine dine restaurants throughout the city of Cleveland and also other major cities across the United States. By far Ferris Steakhouse is one of the top restaurants. The food, the service, the ambiance comma and the overall dining experience was a very memorable experience. I brought my partner for his birthday. Creme brulee was his birthday dessert, compliments of the restaurant. I highly recommend Ferris Steakhouse!
My wife and I were celebrating our 42nd wedding anniversary and wanted to check out the relocated Ferris Steakhouse in Rocky River. We really liked the steaks in the old Detroit Ave. location and we were not disappointed in this new location. It was a nice dress causal atmosphere. We were seated by the bar/TV area since there was a party in the more formal dining room. The service was very attentive and friendly. Our dinner was very good as my wife and I love steaks. The salad and sides were great. The salad dressings were wonderful (thousand island and french) and my order of home fries was superb. The steaks were a litte overdone as we ordered medium and they were prepared medium well. However we did not want to cause a fuss on our anniversary so we ate and enjoyed. The steaks were still very good but would have been outstanding at the medium preparation. We received a nice dessert of creme brulee on the house for our special night out. We will return and recommend Ferris Steak House to our friends. It is a true throw back steak and pototoes place to dine and relax. PS We came from the far east side in Concord Twp. to celebrate.
This long-time staple of the Cleveland restaurant scene remains a pleasant alternative for good steaks and great service. The decor is traditional, comfortable, and welcoming -- no trendy surroundings that will fall out of favor tomorrow. Our server could not have been more friendly, informative, and appropriately attentive during our dinner. Steaks were properly cooked, tender, and tasty, without too much added spice or embellishments. Calamari was tender and featured a nice cornmeal-based coating that added a certain richness to the flavor. We would happily return to the Ferris Steakhouse sometime in the future.
I made reservations for the Mother's Day Brunch. They were very busy when we arrived but they were offering complimentary valet parking, so we didn't have to search for a parking spot which I appreciated. The staff was quite harried but seemed to be expecting the crowd. We had eaten at this restaurant on other occasions and had not experienced this crush of people and accompanying noise. The brunch offerings were plentiful with quite a few lunch and breakfast choices. I didn't think the quality of the food was consistently good, but several of the items were very good. My biggest issues were with the mimosas we ordered which were served in water glasses over ice ( I seriously doubt they were mimosas) and the pushy and rude patrons at the restaurant that day which was not the fault of the restaurant. Because I have had other pleasant experiences at this restaurant I might give them another try but not at a $40 a person buffet!
Ferris Steakhouse is a name many west siders remember from Detroit Avenue in Cleveland. They moved out of the near westside to Rocky River near I-90....a perfect move a few years back. The old neighborhood was getting scary. Now as then had wonderful steaks and food. The bar is great, too. There's no need to get all dressed up for a superb steak dinner. They have good fish items, too. There's a large menu. The owner knows a lot of customers, but checks in on unfamiliar faces, too (like us).
The food was very good, but had to return my husband's steak as it came out way over cooked. The second one was cooked excellent. I had grouper and it was excellent, a bit overcooked, but still yummy. Not complaining, it was all fabulous and what made our experience all the better was our two servers. Both our waitresses were just great and fun to have. I would return anytime and recommend Ferris' to anyone for any occasion.
