Ferrari's Little Italy Ratings and Reviews
Worst food I have had served to me in years. First bottle f wine brought to me was pure vinegar. Second bottle was OK but stored in an environment not suitable for wine.
Fish was burnt to a crisp, second fish dish was so over cooked it also was not suitable to be consumed. Third entree was veal scalloping while this dish was edible the quality of the meat was greatly noticed. The fourth dish pasta fettuccine was tasteless.
Not even a decent Italian dessert to end the evening.
First of all I used to love Ferrari's. I used to eat on a more frequent basis until I moved. I was just there this past Saturday, and the food was just awful. I had the Ferrari salad with barely any dressing. I was really looking forward to it. It was my favorite salad. I also had the chicken marsala with mashed potatoes. The gravy was a very thin and had no flavor. The chicken and potato had no flavor. The couple that I went will had 2 different entrees and they had the same complaint. I could have used the whole salt/pepper shaker to give it more taste. I was extremely disappointed.
This was a very good meal. We all had different entrees and we all liked them. The wine and beer lists were full of good choices. The tables are a bit close together. It was fortunate we had a reservation as they were quite busy and we would not have gotten in without one. This is a reliable good place to meet people for dinner.
Two of us ordered the sole filled with crab. It was pretty much tasteless. Two in our party ordered the lasagna which they reported to be good. The salad was good as was the bread. Service was good. The noise level increased as the restaurant filled. Portions large, the large salad served 4. Overall I would rate this restaurant as just okay. Don't believe I shall be returning for dinner. If I were going for lunch maybe, since I usually have salad only.
Ambience: For a Tuesday night, there were a lot of people there & the noise level was kind of on the high side.
Rating = 3.5/5.0
Food: There is a plethora of options to chose from - even for a vegetarian like me. Everything I have had there has been exquisite. Food is served in either big individual portions or large family-style portions. Good collection of wine/beer. The Tiramisu is gigantic & is to die for! Something unique here is the choice of after dinner drinks like port & cognacs.
Rating = 4.5/5
Wait staff: I think that the staff could have been a little more attentive. 1)Our table was in the most crowded part of the room. 2)I had to vie to get our waitress's attention. 3)We had to wait a long time to get our cold bread. =
My husband and I arrived and the restaurant was not very busy. The lady who sat us put us at the smallest table in the restaurant that was crammed in the corner when there were plenty of other open tables that would be perfect for 2 diners. The service was ok, she was nice but seems like we were forgotten about a few times. There was another older couple that came in after us and ordered after us who received their food before us. The vents on the ceiling need cleaning bad. It's pretty gross. The lady who helped us at the bakery was rude, and had no personality. Overall, I don't think that I will return since we commuted about 40 minutes to make it there thinking that it would have been worth the visit.
Well got seated right away with our reservation. Was a little slow to get a server come over it seemed and then the rest of the night it didn't seem like we got checked in on that often although we were seated right by a "busy" area so it's not like we were forgotten - will say though that the service we did get (when we got it) was very nice. On the food side gotta say I loved the spaghetti sauce - could have just eaten it by itself. The house made bread they serve guests was oustanding as well. Garlic bread was also very good. My wife got the chicken parm and it had a nice crispy, lite crust, but could have used some parmesan in the crust (or some more if there was some). I had the fettucini alfredo and it was also very tasty.
always a great dinning experience. I often say a geat italian restaurant is graded by the eggplant parm it can produce. Not too much breading and just the right amount of sauce. Theirs is always spectacular. We will continue to dine there
...forgot to mention the Cannolli !!!
We asked for a table on the patio. It was "officially" closed for the season; however since it was a Friday night, the manager opened it for us. We are regular customers. Once it was open, other people came to check it out. However, as the only customers willing to risk the advent of rain, we had the patio to ourselves. I forgot how dark it got so early in October, and we had to finish our meal by the flashlight apps on our iPhones. LOL
The service was great. However, the kitchen cooks were not on their game that night. My husband ordered a strip steak medium rare and it came medium well to well. That is one reason we had to eat by flashlight. By the time they cooked him another steak, it was dark. Oh, well, an adventure!
Ferrari's has the best lasagna in the city in my opinion. Unfortunately, during our last visit, it was not hot when it was served. It was warm, but should have been much warmer. Service at Ferrari's isn't the best but it isn't the worst either. We might have sent the lasagna back to be warmed up, but once the food was dropped off at our table, we didn't see the server again until the check was brought. The restaurant wasn't that busy, so unless they were extremely short-staffed that night, there really wasn't an excuse for the lack of attentiveness. Overall though, Ferrari's is a very good restaurant and I will return.
Our food was excellent, but service left a lot to,be desired. Our table mate had to ask for cream for his coffee three times before stopping a manager and she finally brought it. If this were my first time here, I probably would not return.
They did offer us free dessert as compensation, but we refused because of dietary restrictions.
We got seated right away and our waitress came right over to get our drink orders and give us water. She only had enough water in her pitcher to fill one and a half glasses so she told us she would be back. We waited about 10 minutes for her to come back with the water, at that time she took our order for dinner; 3 of the 4 guests ordered salads. Our salads came before our drinks but we had no silverware. When she came back with our drinks (another 5 minutes) she asked if something was wrong with our salads and we replied we were still waiting for the silverware. The food was delicious but the service left a lot to be desired. It was a Saturday night and they were fairly busy but there was absolutely no attention to detail.
The food was great, as always. My problem was that we were set right next to a birthday party for a 15 year old group of girls. Initially this was not an issue, but the constant getting up from the table for them to take pictures provided a huge distraction and even a few bumps. Not necessarily the restaurants fault, but it should be noted.
My biggest problem was, we finished eating around 8-815 and our server brought a dessert menu. We asked for a few more minutes in deciding and then did not see our server until almost 9pm. By then, we just wanted to leave and were also almost late for our movie.
