- LLouisVIPWashington, D.C. Area •19 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoWe went for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the splurge in this historically rich treasure box! The service was welcoming and attentive. The ambiance was opulent and beautiful. The menu offered a variety of options including a special (and expensive) caviar tasting special and an afternoon tea. Our waitress was thoughtful, inviting us to taste wine before ordering and sharing detailed descriptions of menu items to guide our selections. She was also very knowledgeable about the Tea Room’s history. We opted for traditional favorites … borscht with peroshki, beef stroganoff, and baked Alaska along with scallops in butternut squash purée. Everything was nicely presented and delicious! The tea is a highlight to accompany any meal … the tea menu has an outstanding variety of house blended selections, including both caffeinated and herbal decaffeinated varieties. The tea is served in a generous large pot, which I love because it lasts through the meal (I drink a lot of tea). The serving of tea leaves was generous, and the waiter refilled the tea pot with hot water to enjoy during dessert. Cherries in syrup are a fun, traditional, accompaniment to sweeten the tea in addition to usual milk and sugar.More infoRussian Tea Room - NYCPrice: Very Expensive• Continental• Midtown West•4.5
