Lavagna abrió sus puertas el 1 de febrero de 1999 y ofrece comida de estilo trattoria a precios moderados. El ambiente es acogedor, iluminado por velas, con un horno antiguo de leña, paredes de ladrillos expuestos, techo de hojalata prensada y un bar pequeño de vinos donde también se puede comer. Una pared de puertas francesas dan paso a un café sobre la banqueta con lugar para 20 comensales en las temporadas de clima cálido. El concepto culinario es el de crear platillos italianos tradicionales, haciendo énfasis en los ingredientes frescos y de temporada, y productos de la más alta calidad. Del menú se destacan las pastas hechas en casa, un pescado para 2 rostizado en el horno de leña, chuletas de cerdo rostizadas, costillitas de cordero, y por supuesto la pasta rigatoni con salchicha dulce y picante que se ha convertido en un clásico a través de los años. La carta de vinos ha recibido el Premio a la Excelencia por Wine Spectator cada año desde 2002, y se enfoca en en vinos difíciles de encontrar de las regiones de Italia y otras opciones internacionales.
