The Hillside is a charming, rustic pub situated in the historic Georgian village of Hillsborough, County Down, only 15 minutes drive from Belfast city centre. The Hillside first opened its doors to patrons in 1752 and has been enjoying a busy trade ever since thanks to our excellent food and drinks selection and our friendly, welcoming service. Long thought to be the building where our entries namesake was held as a prisoner before being hung in Cornmaket, The Jailhouse as it is now known has been frozen in time for the last 70 years nearly forgotten about completely. Restored as part of the Joys Entry project, the aim was to keep as much of the original character of the building as possible. Brick walls, inscribed beams and original windows, take a closer look and see what history and tales you can find while you sip on tipples and nibble on rations. Time Served Well.

Lovely meal at the Hillside. All the food served was delicious. Victoria our waiter was attentive and chatty. Definately recommend.

From we sat foot in the Hilton we were greeted very warmly by staff some of them still quite young which was very refreshing, the food was lovely but the soup although very flavoursome was too thin and more like milk, so a bit more texture would have been better. Ambience was amazing
