A nice friendly place to eat good food and good service

We booked a two course Sunday lunch for three at 12.45 and between us had the mushrooms, the tempura prawns, the carvery and the rib eye steak. The food was faultless; high quality produce, fresh, tasty, tender with good textures, hot and well presented. Our waitress was exceptionally helpful and attentive. There was no delay and the timing (between carvery and a la carte) was perfect. The place is beautiful. Our table was spacious, it felt upmarket, warm and cosy. We had a leisurely meal and were not rushed. I was pleasantly surprised to leave with a bill including drinks for under £90. Experiences this good in a picture postcard setting don't happen often, or by accident. In London this would have cost £90 per head. Impressed and I will definitely return.

So much choice, so delicious, so healthy but never fear help is on hand from the helpful staff. Illustrated menu as well. Lovely birthday surprise for our 11 yr. old. She was in the loo which she found enchanting!

The venue has a lovely ambience but there were a few issues. I'd expect a restaurant with this image and prices to have flawless customer service. On arrival you have to park in an underground car park and pay by the hour for parking, even on a Sunday and when dining at the restaurant - we were only there for just over 2 hours but got charged an extortionate £8. When we found the restaurant (harder than expected from the car park) we were quickly seated and welcomed. Unfortunately the waiter spilled our bottle of prosecco while pouring and just ignored it. We were repeatedly offered to have our water refilled but they never actually did it. The menu changed last minute which was unacceptable for Easter Sunday - I would have picked somewhere else if I knew this was doing its regular menu. The food was fine but slightly outrageous none of the meals we ordered came with carbs like potatoes, chips, rice etc. On the positive side, there were plenty of sustainable vegan options, including a delicious pear tarte tatin for dessert.

They accommodated a large group of 11 really well and were easy to communicate and change numbers on reservations with advance. Food was excellent too
