El Max's Café se construyó en 1890 como una zapatería. En 1912, el 34 de North Burlington Street abrió de nuevo como Leisinger's Saloon, que duró 25 años, incluso en la época de la ley seca (como "establecimiento de refrescos"). En 1937, el Leisinger's Saloon pasó a través de la familia y se renombró como Max's Cafe; su nombre durante los 65 años siguientes. Our owner Jimmy started Mt Fuji Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse back in 2005 as an small sushi restaurant. Since then we've won 2 awards from The Courier Post Readers Choice for one of the Best Sushi and Japanese Cuisine in South Jersey. Fast forward to 2013 we opened our Hibachi Grill section and ever since then it's been the go-to place for people that wants to have fun and watch an performance at the same time. Our menu has three sections one for sushi bar items, the second one for Japanese Cuisine and the third one for the Hibachi Grill. With over 30 years of experience in Japanese Cuisine with his specialty in sushi, Jimmy strives on perfecting the art of sushi making and is always makes sure that the ingredients used are all up to standards before cooking. That is our secret to why we were able to maintain our 4.0 and above reviews from all platforms!We are the only restaurant in Deptford that serves Sushi and have Hibachi performances!

Mawn is a noodle house with “no rules,” and the first restaurant for Chef Phila Lorn and his wife Rachel, who bring with them close to 20 years of experience in Philly’s restaurant scene. Phila, pronounced “Pee La,” broken English for Philadelphia, is a first-generation Cambodian-American chef. The first in his family to be born here, his parents and siblings came to Philadelphia as refugees in 1985 after surviving the war in Cambodia.Mawn, which means “chicken” in Khmer, the Cambodian language, represents more than one thing. To Phila, chicken was at every meal growing up, and to his parents, chicken represented peacetime. During the war and genocide of the Cambodian people, there was mostly only what was found in nature to eat, including rice and salt. If there was chicken, it meant no war. At the end of that dark time, recipes were lost, and culture was wiped out, but through survival, a new authenticity was born.
