Standing high above the city on the 10th floor of the Parisian on Vine building (previously City Club) , at 309 Vine Street; resurrected from the history that has stood here before our time, Shires' Rooftop is inspired by the first amusement resort in this part of the country, Shires' Garden. Though the original Shires' Gardens burned to the ground, "in a most picturesque fire," the legacy that was left behind is everlasting and an integral part of the Queen City's history. My business associate and I enjoyed our dinner here with a bottle of 1997 Chateau Musar White Wine from Lebanon. It was the perfect accompaniment to his West Bank Mussels and my Decatur Street Muffaletta. We split a Caesar salad, which was plenty for both of us as we are in our 70s. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.
