- NNicolaLondon •9 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoFirst time visitors tonight and pleasantly surprised. All 4 of us shared chateau Briand which was cooked medium rare and superbly tender. We probably made the school boy error of not ordering extra veg as we lacked some greenery but other than that it was very good. It’s nice to see a chef that knows how to rest a decent cut of meat properly. All washed down with a couple of bottles of St’emlion red I’m sure we will return soonMore infoThe House by Hilly GantPrice: Very Expensive• British• Braintree•4.7

The welcome was warm, the service perfect and the food just wonderful. These days when there are so many choices it's so lovely to find somewhere that gets it right on every level. The setting is just so picturesque, but obviously it's the food that you remember and keep going back for. James is an amazing and dedicated Chef and he did not let us down. I started with the most sublime scallops my wife had mussels (perfectly sized as a starter) and then keeping the fish theme going I had wonderful prawn linguine for my main course and my wife had liver and bacon on a bed of creamy mash. For pudding, we shared the most delicious creme brûlée. A desert can often make or break a meal. It's at the end and it is what you remember. I love creme brûlée, and the Green Man's desert did not disappoint. The delicate taste of raspberry and the lovely contrasting bite of little chunks of white chocolate was to die for. Thanks for an all round wonderful experience.More infoThe Green Man at LindsellPrice: Moderate• Gastro Pub• Great Dunmow•4.5
