With quality stonework and attractive sloping edges Lock 10 is one of 46 along the Royal Canal and continues to be a testament to the skill of the craftsmen involved. Arthur's is the nearest pub on the route to The Guinness Storehouse, one of the city's foremost tourist attractions. It is popular both with locals and tourists. The Porterhouse in Temple Bar opened in 1996 as Dublin's first pub brewery. Ireland then (and now, arguably) was a beer desert and being the cheeky chappies that we are, we managed to gain maximum publicity by naming a beer Weiserbuddy (you'd be a wiser buddy to drink this beer) and Probably, the best lager in the world.This created much amusement and threatened litigation from some of the biggest playersin the drinks industry. Indeed amongst the publican fraternity, bets were taken as to how long a bar could last without mainstream beers. Well, all these years later we are still producing some of the best beers you will ever taste.If you think about it, it's not rocket science. Give the public some great beers to taste that we brew ourselves, the largest selection in Ireland of world classic beers and on top of that a healthy dollop of great live music, 7 nights a week.
