Nobu Atlanta is situated at Phipps Plaza in the affluent Buckhead neighborhood. With influence from Atlanta's lush canopy of trees and Japanese arts and crafts, the bar and lounge area features a white onyx bar volume that sits in front of a 12-foot-long river rock art installation while folded cast glass pendants cast a soft glow on the bar. The dining room takes you to traditional Japanese garden pavilions that were often used for ceremonies and rituals while overscale pendants made from shoji paper create the look of elongated, abstracted paper lanterns. Pietro Gianni and Stephen Peterson, two of the owners behind Storico Vino, plan to open Italian restaurant Yeppa and Co. Yeppa, named for a verbal exclamation expressing joy and excitement, will serve a menu of dishes influenced by the coastal city of Rimini in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy along the Adriatic Sea. Look for plates of cured meats and cheeses, grilled skewers, seafood dishes with fish from the Adriatic, paninis and piadina romagnola (Italian flatbread sandwich) as well as hearty pasta dishes, like lasagne alla bolognese and tortelli filled with meat, vegetables, and cheese. Expect pizzas as well as focaccia on the menu, too.

Clark and Schwenk, friends over the years, discussed starting a place of their own and traded ideas over what the menu would be like. Finally, at the beginning of 2007, they felt ready to strike out on their own and made that vision happen. “I looked around Atlanta and saw a need for a really good old-school restaurant,” Clark says.
