21 is still the best restaurant in Newcastle Excellent food and outstanding service

After a few recommendations was a bit disappointed. The place looks lovely. Service was pleasant but chaotic. We had barely sat down when someone asked if we were ready to order. Asked for more time. The Sunday lunch was fairly average (have had better at a lower price point). It felt like it was chicken, couple of soft roasties, 1 carrot etc and small bowl of uninspiring veg. We were grateful for the gravy boat although the gravy was excessively salty. The Yorkshire was perfect. After we finished someone asked if we wanted the dessert menu. We gave an excited yes then after 30 mins still no dessert menu. We eventually got someone’s attention and received the menu. We both opted for the berry and apple crumble. Disappointingly it was crammed in a small bowl with very little custard. Bits of it were cold and bits hot as if it had been poorly microwaved. If heard so many good reports and was really looking forward to this. It was just ok, disappointing for the price point. Lovely location and building but can’t say I would rush back.

Fabulous food and service. Never had a bad meal yet. There is a great choice of meals and food cooked fresh from order. Staff are welcoming and helpful.

We had Sunday lunch today 2 adults 1 child. the waitress gave different options for our son and was really helpful and attentive. We arrived early and had a few drinks in the bar which was so lovely with the singer and just such a nice vibe. The dinner today was absolutely the best dinner we have had out, (we usually go to branches or nest) which I still love but we both agreed everything about the food today was next level. The cheese soufflé is divine and everything down to the carrots that I initially whined to my husband that weren’t roasted and looked bland tasted liked they’d been slow roasted with fennel and were amazing. The best Sunday dinner ever and so reasonable for the level of food. Second time here the first time last year was great but not as amazing as today we are coming back next week and probably every week for the foreseeable. Thank you x

First time visiting. Was loud when arrived. Service was good. Food was great. Found a gold mine when they got the chef. Music was great too. Will definitely visit again.
