Best Pre-Theater Restaurants in Daly City

The tea service and the atmosphere were fantastic. Benedeth was the lovely person who took care of us from start to finish. Special thanks to her for making us feel welcome. She was warm, friendly, considerate and very efficient. I have enjoyed high tea all over SF and the Post Room is my new favorite spot. I plan to return for dinner soon.

We had lunch here before a Saturday show, and it was a lovely experience. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and the seating was comfortable. We started with hummus, which was mild and smooth and accompanied by the softest, most pillowy warm pitas ever. For our entrees, we had the beef pita sandwich, steak souvlaki, lamb chops, and the makaronia pasta. My son said that the lamb was tender and flavorful. My older son really enjoyed his sandwich, and my husband loved the souvlaki. The pasta was amazing, with a light but richly flavored sauce with briny pops from the capers contrasting with the earthy mushrooms and spinach.

We ate here before seeing a show at the curran theatre. Absolutely a winner. I must say, I went in not having high expectations because I had read a review on Infatuation that said it was pretty but the food was just okay, but I found each dish to be really delicious, the ambiance was festive and the service was excellent.

Zuni Cafe was just what we hoped it would be—outstanding. The garlic bread with burrata, peppers and onion was outstanding and the soup was very good. The halibut and duck leg mains were excellent. The fries (string potatoes) were delivered late and, frankly, weren’t as good as they looked. The pavlova dessert was a good way to cap the meal. We definitely would go back again.
