Koshō Restaurant at The Barlow is a modern Japanese and sushi restaurant in Sebastopol with a progressive focus on food, local ingredients, and sustainability. Koshō derives its moniker from the condiment of the same name, Yuzu Koshō. Since the middle ages the elegant porticos of Bologna, Italy have a meeting place for the public as well as a place for business. Paolo Pedrinazzi (who is from Bologna) and Kat Escamilla, owners of the new Portico trattoria , bring this experience to Sebastopol. They even have monthly Regional dinner parties with live jazz.The setting includes an Italian fountain on their cozy patio. Portico offers light table service and counter ordering.     Wow! Absolutely delicious! Highly recommend. We enjoyed siting at the kitchen bar top and watching each amazing dish be prepared with care. For the two of us, we chose two shared plates (heirloom carrots and the gem salad with strawberries and feta) and a one large dish (hangar steak). We enjoyed every bite.

    The food was delicious and our server Lizette was delightful, professional and very attentive. She noticed a dish had come out from the kitchen containing dill to which I am allergic, before we dug into it. The local oysters are a must here, but all the dishes we tried were very good. Martin was also attentive with the water. Overall, very pleasant dinner.
