• Fusion / Eclectic • Downtown

We know the word "fusion" has been wielded about to justify everything from Hula Burgers to Mexican lasagna. But the East-meets-South brand of fusion happening at Poor Calvin's? It's creative; it's innovative; and it's probably unlike anything you've tasted in the ATL. After working in kitchens around the world, Calvin Phan wanted to shake things up a little. And so, into the mac 'n cheese, the Thai spices went. Now, Calvin's giving Southern staples, like sea bass and fried chicken, a decidedly creative Asian-inspired twist (and a nip of spice, too). He has created innovative dishes, approached in much the same way, leave the hands of Calvin Phan day in and day out. His dedication and attention to detail are evident in each dish and dessert. You won't be disappointed.*Last seating 1 hour before close*

This was the best restaurant evening experience we’ve ever had. The service and the food were extraordinary. We had the Chef’s Tasting Menu - 10 courses. We also had caviar prior to the Tasting Menu and it was excellent. The timing of the courses was excellent. There was enough time between the courses to eat it, talk about it and marvel at it. Then, the next course would come just at the perfect time…not too soon nor too late. One of the other things we loved about Lazy Betty’s was the ambience. While the menu was so very upscale and the presentations of the courses just perfect, it was not a stuffy restaurant so we felt comfortable to talk and enjoy. Even the music was perfect. It was our 3rd anniversary celebration and it was wonderfully memorable. Kudos to everyone there that made our evening there absolutely perfect. Thank you Lazy Betty’s.

We had a great experience and our server Abbie was great! She had great recommendations and great energy. A few complaints, which for the sake of the business won’t affect the stars in this review, but should be considered by the management/owners… first, the host seemed flustered and unprepared, even though the tables were around 35% full. She seated us and spilled water on the table which splashed my date who instantly asked for a napkin to clean herself up. After a few minutes, we decided to look around and she was setting tables, with nobody in queue to be seated. So I decided to get up and take napkins from empty tables to get it done myself even while I’m doing this she walks by, sees what I’m doing, and says nothing. Totally inept. Also, the Spotify bill needs to be be paid because hearing commercials in the middle of a meal is absolutely ridiculous. Otherwise, we loved it here. If we come back it’ll be to see Abbie again!
