Campisi's Downtown is owned and operated by David Campisi and his family. The restaurant has a long and storied history, beginning in 1946 when David's great-grandfather bought a bar with a small kitchen and began making pizzas - the first ever in Dallas. Today, Campisi's Downtown still makes its famous pizza (you can even build your own if you like), and also serves up a huge array of pasta dishes, salads, appetizers and entrées.     First class. What else needs to be said? You enter through the hotel. Free margaritas & fresh guacamole are being handed out. Tortilla soup - from the chef who made it famous at The Mansion. Oysters rock-a fearing. Buffalo tenderloin. Antelope and an enchilada filled with saddle of rabbit This was our time at Fearings. This restaurant holds its own with The Mansion. The food is definitely southwestern. Lots of complimentary breads. Gifts (multiple) from the chef. A slice of flourless chocolate cake given that it was our wedding anniversary was also complimentary. The “usual” chocolate brownie with ice cream was also very special - very happy we ordered it. I’m not a margarita drinker. I am now. Yes - that good. The margaritas ($25 a pop) are made with diamana liqueur and tequila - definitely different. Service was flawless. And there was very little noise - a bonus. Lastly. While expensive, the portions are more than ample. You will leave quite satisfied. Much better than feeling like they are serving you a child’s plate. One annoyance. Parking should be complimentary. The restaurant makes a decent profit off the food.

    What a delicious and tasty dining experience! The amuse-bouche was an extra delight and the bread and butter with the onion ash was so good. One in our party had food sensitivities (Gluten free, dairy free), and they happily accommodated. If you are visiting Dallas this is a must go to place.
