- CChelseaHouston •2 reviews5.0Dined 5 days agoThe hostess and servers managed expectations well, explaining that most food is cooked over an open flame which requires quite a bit more time than conventional preparation. They recommended we start with snacks/appetizers from their menu, and they also recommended ordering everything at once so they could pace the meal appropriately. We got the "Tower of Pisa" appetizer and shared a rib eye with a house salad and pomme purée on the side, then split the crème brûlée for dessert. The appetizer tower was so good! I'm glad we got to try a little of everything, and next time we will likely order the oysters and crudo as those two were our favorite. The rib eye was exquisite - an amazing cut of meat! I think cooking over the wood fire must make it difficult to judge temperature. From the outside, I thought there's no way our steak was medium rare, but it was pleasantly rare in the center with melt-in-your-mouth fats. The Jacobsen salt was a nice touch and we devoured the whole thing. The pomme purée was probably 60% butter, 40% potatoes and tasted divine. So creamy and smooth. The croutons on the house salad were amazing (I think the server said they are fried in duck fat), but the sweet fried onions and - I think it was peeled and pickled cherry tomato? - stole the show. Crème brûlée is my favorite dessert and I think this was the best I've ever had. The caramelized sugar on top was thick and crisp and the custard was sweet and cold and tasted of real vanilla bean. We also really enjoyed their cocktails. The parmesan martini was really interesting and the toki whisky rhubarb drink from their seasonal cocktail menu was delicious. My wife doesn't drink and she was pleased with the non-alcoholic options - they clearly put a lot of care into their alcohol-free cocktails. Everyone was really, really nice. The service was great. We sat on the patio because the weather was gorgeous. We spent a full two hours - definitely a place to "dine" instead of grab a quick meal.More infoBistecca Wood Fire SteakhousePrice: Very Expensive• Steakhouse• Northwest Portland•4.3

- CCherylVIPPhoenix / Arizona •32 reviews5.0Dined 7 days agoDon's has great food and is unique in the Portland area. Don personally brings each course to the table and describes it. The food is mostly Italian. We have been several times. our only criticism is that the service is very slow and the dinner lasts about 2 hours minimum.More infoDon's Favorite FoodsPrice: Very Expensive• Contemporary Italian• Beaverton•5
