Raasa – First Impressions Visited Raasa on what I believe was their first weekend of service. The food overall was of good quality, with some strong dishes that showed clear potential. That said, the menu felt quite limited and lacked coherence in places. A more focused, well-structured set menu might have helped showcase the kitchen’s strengths better at this early stage. A couple of bread options would have been a nice touch too. Was not sure dosa works as a bread option. We started with the scallops, which were a highlight—well-executed and flavourful. For mains, we tried the lamb shank biryani, which had great flavours but came in a portion far too large for one person—more suited for sharing. The chicken tikka was also good, nicely cooked and seasoned. Service was unfortunately not up to the same standard. The team were clearly trying hard, but it felt like they hadn’t had enough time to train properly yet. Hopefully, this improves as they settle in. Raasa has promise—some good dishes and a clear passion for food—but it still feels like it’s finding its footing. I’d be interested to return once the menu develops and the service team finds its rhythm

Having visited the Nomad restaurant previously I was keen to see the new improvements and rebranded Twenty8 restaurant. It’s such a good location in the heart of Covent Garden. The room now has a lovely light and airy feel in the daylight and turns ambient and romantic later in the evening. There is a DJ on a Friday/Saturday, it added a fun vibe not hardcore pulsing music just nice background tunes. The food was really good, reluctant to say improved as enjoyed it before but had stepped up a notch. The staff and service were excellent, everyone greeted us with a smile and friendly attitude. We had a very enjoyable evening. It’s now a cool, sophisticated but not too stuffy place to eat, a destination in itself as supposed to just a hotel restaurant. Great food, service and cocktails!
